We had major litigation with Mega Bank, one of Asias largest banks. We had to get many Chinese documents translated and notarized so they could be filed in the New York State Supreme Court. LTC accomplished several significant and detailed translations in a matter of days. They have the capability to undertake tremendous translation challenges and provide spectacular turn around times. LTC was/is my least favorite Interpretation company. I have only done 2 interpretation job/assignments with them. The first one was fine and the company paid me as promised based on the interpretation agreement.The second one was not a pleasant experience which led me to rate them with only 1 star. To explain why I decided to rate them with 1 star, I should better begin with the incident that I had with them:One of the LTC staffs called me after my service was completed and after speaking with the client that I had worked with. Not knowing too much in details, I was told that the sub client, was not fully satisfied with my interpretation service. I was allowed to explain my point of view and of what happened during the interpretation service with that specific client.After talking and sharing both sides of stories with the staff, she told me that LTC would not charge their client due to the fact that the client was not 100% happy with the service and on top, because they were their new client. So therefore, the staff told me that LTC would not compensate me for my 4-hour full service at all. That to me immediately showed me that LTC takes far more care of their first/new clients rather than the interpreters who actually take the time and effort to work for them.I take constructive criticism and feedback very serious and I really appreciate the feedback that every company provides to me as an interpreter, because those feedbacks help me to become a better interpreter.I worked with many other online interpreter companies and frankly speaking, I have not encountered this kind experience with the other companies at all which is why this company really disappointed me.After several emails back and forth with LTC, they eventually decided to compensate me for my service but only 50%. To me, this method of compensation based on the clients feedback is still so unfair, because the agreement clearly stated the compensation amount. If the agreement had any type of writing that a compensation could be reduced based on the clients feedback, I would have been less upset, but it was never stated in the contract. 2019 comes to an end and so I decided to close this chapter with this company and move forward.For those interpreters/translators out there, please be familiar with the contractor agreements you sign and always know your rights.Its sad to see that these interpretation companies that solely mediate as a bridge between clients and interpreters/ translators, make money from the time and service we provide to the clients and not vice versa.
