You will be hard pressed to find a flying club in the region as exceptional and affordable as Coastal Skies Aero Club. The fleet of aircraft is diverse and growing, from the workhorse Cessna 172’s, which are excellent proven training platforms, to faster more advanced aircraft used for personal travel or the acquisition of new certificates and ratings. The team of flight instructors is equally diverse, and all share an intense passion for teaching. There should be no problem finding an instructor that suits your individual learning style. Instructors range from the young enthusiastic type to seasoned airline veterans with 20,000 plus hours of experience to share. The knowledgeable front desk staff and dispatchers made up of Tori and Leslie, and the Operations Manager Sharon, is simply awesome and genuinely treat everyone like family. The staff is constantly striving to improve the customer experience. Coastal Skies is collocated with their dedicated maintenance facility, Total Aircraft Services, which ensure the fleet is in tip top shape. Prior to each flight, Barbara, the aircraft appearance technician, cleans the cockpit and services the aircraft with fuel and oil. The club does an excellent job communicating with membership through newsletters/emails and even provides special offers and birthday discounts. I encourage you to visit to check out the operation for yourself. Each Monday evening from 600-800 PM they hold a free guided group study session open to all, even non-members, and with a small donation a meal is provided. Prospective new member orientations are held Saturday mornings, call the office for details. Overall, I cannot rate Coastal Skies highly enough!

So I went there to do my discovery flight which costed 200$ to do. On their website it tells you that the instructor will give you a brief explanation on how the plane will fly and all of those details as well as the instructor will let have control over the plane but none of that happened when I went there. I was scheduled to go at 9am, I arrived there at 8:55 and my instructor was doing some maintenance and fueling on the plane. I waited 15 mins or so in the lobby then the receptionist told me to go ahead and find her on a blue plane down the road she didn’t even show me where or anything. After my experience I spoke with the instructor about me not getting the services that I paid for she offered me an extra free 30 min to comeback. The instructor her name was Sophie was awful and rude not to mention she was scared for her life during the flight. Did the pre flight on her, didn’t explain nothing, didn’t let me fly or do anything like that in the air. Plus she told me I was late 15min and that it was my fault. I requested a full refund or to do the discovery flight again with a different instructor from the manager but the manager was also rude and said we won’t give you nothing and didn’t even care about the customer at all. She didn’t even take the time to understand my side of the story. She said “ I’m not wasting my time arguing with you, we gave more than what the website said”. Luckily I called my credit card company and they gave me a full refund. Awful experience, pearland airport is small no security doesn’t even look like an airport. Trust me never go there. Go to flytigers and you won’t regret anything. Discovery flight was 140$ instructor was so chill and nice let me fly the whole entire time except takeoff and landing. And even my friend came with me and they didn’t charge anything extra. Plus Ellington airport is much bigger and have a watch tower with security and everything. Fly tigers were amazing I’m planning to get my licenses from there.

Couldnt be happier with my experience here. Amazing staff, great planes, and good communication. I am finishing my private license and would suggest this school to anyone looking to start flying.

I was a student pilot at this company for 30+ hours and have had 5 different flight instructors from this same company. One flight instructor wrecked an airplane with a student pilot who only had 6 hours, was unable to correct his mistakes because he was so old. Coastal management Eric is very hot headed which leads to his poor management skills. Another flight instructor, Tommy, quit after a meeting that coastal had with their instructors demanding they reach a quota with student pilots and are charging more money than is necessary. This place is known as a “barn yard” and very high turn around for flight instructors. Each flight instructor that I have had has had not one good word to say about this business and management. If you are looking to switch schools or potentially looking for a school to obtain your license, look the opposite direction when it comes to this company.

We could not be more pleased with Coastal Skies Aero Club and everyone that works there. Emily Smith passed her Commercial Check-ride on Saturday, August 10th and everything went very well. The staff was very attentive to our needs, the airplanes were always in good working order, and the support we received for the check-ride itself was spectacular. I almost cried when I heard the cheering for her during the customer appreciation day when she finished. Thank you for putting together such a great flying club.

This has got to be one of the best flight schools in Texas. Throughout all my financial struggles, through losing a job, gaining one back; this flight club has held my back the entire way and never abandoned me. When I was able to start back up, they started right where they left off with me. The prices are decent and the team is very welcoming. This is the best club Ive been with.
