We have been going to Montenegro Martial Arts for about 7 months. Our son really enjoys it. They teach them not only Karate, but about building character and respect. Mr. & Mrs. Montenegro are always there to answer any questions we may have and they are very easy to work with. I would recommend their program to anyone looking to get their child into Karate. They are never too old to start.

My son has been attending this karate school for a year now and he loves it! I couldnt have picked a better place for my son to be. Every one here is very understanding. So on that note if youre looking for a great karate school this is the place for you and your kids.

My entire family ( myself, wife, and our three sons aged 16,14,13 ) have attended the Black Belt Karate Academy for 10 years.My sons have really benefited from the Karate training in terms of better focus, discipline, manners, and patience. Our entire family has benefited with greater fitness, flexibility and self-defense techniques.Id highly recommend the Black Belt Karate Academy for youngsters, as the environment is fun, friendly, and challenging.Weve really enjoyed the karate instruction, sparring, and weapons seminars.We have also especially enjoyed the kickboxing classes from an aerobic perspective. My son has been attending Montenegros Martial Arts for almost a year now, planning on staying there for many more to come and my experience with them has been amazing. Sensei Montenegro is knowledgeable, experienced and great with kids.Mr and Mrs Montenegro are patient and understanding of lifes situations. They have help me a great deal with schedules. I recently moved and still make the drive to stay with them.

I joined Montenegros about 4 and a half years ago, specifically I joined the kickboxing class. It took me about 3 months to become passionate about it, but now its really become a part of me. On top of helping me get in great shape, it gave me something to work towards, and boosted my self confidence. Its a great family vibe there. Maybe if Ive had a bad day or a stressful one, going in to class just lets me relax and be with good people. Its physically challenging, and you will definitely feel sore muscles after a kickboxing class, but ever since I first signed up, its been a huge part of my life.

Our experience with Montenegros has been wonderful. I could not have asked for a better experience for my kids. We have been there now for almost 2 years and my Kids have learned so much. They have also gained a lot of confidence. My kids love Black belt Karate:)

These reviews are shocking! With my experience at this location, Ive never had an issue! It appears as those with bad commentary do not understand the contract nor the idea of what this institution stands for. It is a safe, well trusted and fun activity and location for my kids! I am happy to have this Academy near by!

I havent been to the actual dojo but if its anything like the tournament they hosted today (4 August 2018) I know its a top notch training facility. Thank you Montenegro family and staff for putting on a great event! I will be back next year to compete!

This is a great school. Love the facility and the classes are really well run. The teachers really know their stuff. I recommend this school to anyone looking to get started in the martial arts.

Ive been training here for the past six years and the experience has been amazing. Throughout all those years Ive learned to have more confidence, respect and self-discipline while achieving more strength, conditioning and flexibility. I joined the competition team and with the help of the instructors im now a five time karate state champion. The instructors have been great and they inspired me to become one myself. And Im proud to say that Im aMontenegros Martial Arts black belt.

Impressive facility. Top notch staff. The Sensei is a mother and grandmother, so she relates well to children and parents. The Montenegro family host fun promotion ceremonies and Karate championship competitions. Our 5 children as well as my husband take classes at this dojo. I feel I am benefitting from the manners, the discipline, and the self control they are teaching my kids. I have also been told from several teachers that my children are so respectful and they show kindness to classmates. Pricing is lower than the competition and its more than fair. I love that they offer after school classes and year round options! You should come by and meet the owners, you will not want to go elsewhere.

First, they make you signed a one year contract and even if you quit you have to pay the montly fee and they don’t explain you that. Second, the teachers are teenagers without much experience and spend too much time re-directing and calling the attention of five years old students who can’t follow along with the class. This situation happens on a daily basis and students get tired and frustruated. You will waste your time trying to learn Karate moves...no new poses/ strategies/ positions in weeks....I have been member for more than 7 months.

I drive by 2 other martial arts schools on my way to karate class. My 2 kids (ages 10 and 12) have been going to Montenegros Martial Arts (Black Belt Karate) for over 4 years now. It has been the best thing for their self esteem, confidence, and coordination. After the first year, I started the adult self defense class, and found it to be a much better workout than running or lifting weights.Sensei Montenegro knows how to build a sense of pride, in children and adults. Kids learn more than just karate there. They learn how to control themselves, inside and outside of the dojo. As they progress in skill, they gain leadership experience by leading stretching, and demonstrating skills to newer students. Few places give kids this young such an opportunity.We joined their optional competition team, and compete at martial arts tournaments all over south east Texas, including state championships. We have made great friends, and learned a lot. My kids have other activities they enjoy, but almost nothing gets in the way of karate class.

I have to say this place is amazing, ive been going here for the past 7 months for kick boxing and my nephew for 3 months for karate and we couldnt be any happier, if you need a place to learn any of these, this is the place to go! Trust me youll love it!

HIGHWAY ROBBERY:BEWARE, do NOT send your children and money to this institution! These greedy people are horrible crooks that have no respect for others.When we initially met them for our daughters evaluation, the wife was super sweet and seemed very genuine. She even threw in a free uniform. We were sold. After some thought, my daughter decided it wasnt going to be a good idea since her workload at school would be heavier her next school year. I was upset at first, but she is being very responsible by making this decision ahead of time. Keep in mind, we havent had our first lesson, yet. We gave the sweet lady a call and told her about our decision to back out. She insisted for us to come in and meet with her. This is where her true colors came to light.She started off nice and tried to convince her to stay and stick with her decision. When she saw that we were adament about our decision, she started bullying my daughter to the point where she fell into tears. The woman was insulting my parenting and asked how we were planning to punish her for her behavior and then went on to tell my daughter how she is wasting our money. She told us we wouldnt be able to get our down payment back and we would still be charged monthly from our account. This was a week after we signed the contract, that states we have 30 days to cancel. She then tried to bully us by saying court and lawyer fees are really high and it wouldnt be worth fightin. Right before we left she said they do buy-outs on the contract.People like her, have no business being around children, the way she influences them. I dont mind losing the down payment, but I think it is ridiculous that i have to send them money monthly for services Im not receiving. Steer clear of these ugly individuals!!!
