Becky is an awesome coach that goes above and beyond. We have seen so much improvement both in my daughter’s riding and in her horse’s performance since we have been training with her. She is always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Becky is very knowledgeable and passionate and it shows in all aspects of her training, coaching, feedback, suggestions, etc. It is so wonderful seeing her students thrive both inside the arena and out. She not only teaches these kids to ride, but she also teaches them about confidence, hard work, compassion, and sportsmanship.

Becky taught my children to ride way back in 1994. I have had a professional relationship with her ever since and I still do today: she is currently teaching my grandchildren and I can recommend her and her services unreservedly and without any hesitation at all. A remarkablelady.

Becky is a first-class equine educator. Not only does she teach you the fundamentals and correct techniques in all aspects of riding, she will teach you horsemanship. She cares about her students and keeps them safe. She also cares deeply for the horses. She protects them both through her knowledge and her experience as a trainer. The Richmond location has a relaxed atmosphere and a nice arena for lessons.

Becky was an immense help to me and my horses and always wonderful to work with! She was easy to coordinate with for lessons, and she is definitely one of the more knowledgeable and talented trainers in the field. Her lessons extend beyond just barrels and poles, breaking down everything to make sure you and your horse are working together as well as possible at a fundamental level first to improve not only your times, but also your horsemanship. Highly recommend!!

Becky has taught my 12 year old daughter since March 2016. Prior to riding western my daughter took one year of dressage to truly understand the basics of riding. Since then, with Becky;s recommendation, we purchased her a barrel horse. I can honestly say Becky is extremely friendly and the most knowledgeable horse expert that I’ve ever meet. My daughters confidence and western riding skills have improved so much. Becky looks at our kids as her own and coaches them daily. If we ever have any questions, need advice or just need a pep-talk, shes been there for us 24/7!

I started riding with Becky when I was 6 years old. She will not only teach you how to ride a horse, barrel race, etc, she will teach you about hard work, teamwork, and persistence. I rode with Becky for around 10 years and had many successes riding in various youth rodeos around the state. I still have my retired barrel horse she helped me train all those years ago. I look back fondly on the years I had at her riding school and the friendships I still have today because of it!

Becky treats you as a family member and recognizes that different personalities require different approaches. She tailors teaching style accordingly, Evaluate your training goals, Help you improve, Work closely well with you. Becky’s comfortable relationship will yield more results than a difficult one. Becky is able to improve diminished gaits or correct spoiled horses. This is a skill, beyond the abilities of many otherwise capable trainers. Becky never grow tired of repeating things that need to be repeated and she is inspiring and kind.

Becky is a phenomenal instructor! My daughter joined her riding school when she was 12 and was taught so much about western riding and the fundementals behind becoming a successful rider. Becky not only took the time to teach her the riding skills she needed but also taught her how to take care of the horses. Becky’s compassion and patience is only a couple of her best qualities. She truley is amazing with her training skills and makes each student find what they need to be successful in riding. I can’t say enough good things about this riding school. It’s a laid back atmosphere and everyone feels welcomed from beginner riders to more experienced. Highly recommend this western riding school!!

Fantastic, friendly atmosphere. My granddaughter loves learning from Becky. In the year we have been here, she has become not only a much better rider but has developed such a love and understanding of caring for and listening to the needs of the horse. We have tried other riding instructors in the area and Becky, by far, is the best!

In 2003 Becky became my trainer and soon after a close friend. Competition was not new to me but after a new horse was purchased and I needed help, my father and I sought her out. She helped me take things back to basic and correct some bad habits that were formed over the years. Becky has numerous areas of expertise when it comes to the Equine Industry. Not to mention, her whole life has been dealt with and around horses from riding and competing at a young age to working for Arabian, Thoroughbred, and Quarter Horse Farms. She has numerous tools to pull from her toolbox to help you with riding regardless of your skill level. Becky helped me train two exceptional horses to run barrels and poles each with no prior training to the event. I have a wealth of knowledge training with Becky and I know for years to come I can go to her for advice and suggestions with horses. Anyone looking for a trainer would be very pleased with Becky Hellums Hendricks.

I’ve known Becky for a long time, as I was a student of hers along with my daughter. The words that come to mind when I think of Becky are tough as nails, patient, kind hearted, and an expert with horses. Our horse, Jack, was as stubborn as he was kind and Becky never gave up on him or us. I would recommend her in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a riding teacher.

Becky is the most experienced trainers I know. I can testify personally she’s the best in the industry to date. As being a former student of hers I am beyond proud of all that she has achieved! When I first started going to her riding school in Richmond TX I knew very little about horsemanship and never had owned a horse of my own, not only did she make me feel welcome, but she also taught me the skills I needed to be able to go forward with my career now at Texas A&M working for Freeman Arena. Becky really cares for her students and treats them with the upmost respect! Not only did she write future job recommendations for me, but she also kept in touch over the years and became my idol to teach others in my Equine Science department at Texas A&M. I could honestly go on for days about the great qualities she instills into everyone, but point blank I compeltey and 100% recommend Becky’s riding school 🙌🏼 You will not regret it!

I cant say enough about Becky and her riding program. She has taught both my daughters from an early age how to ride and compete, and more importantly, horsemanship and respect for these awesome animals. My older daughter went on to work as a trail riding instructor in Hawaii where she lived for 4 years, based on the training she learned through Becky. Beckys passion for horses and training kids and adults of all ages is very evident as is her keen focus on safety. I have also learned a lot through her, not only about riding, but about horses, horsemanship and pursuing my passion.

I started riding with Becky when I was 11yrs old. Becky took my love of horses helped it grow by teaching me first the fundamentals of riding, and then built a fanatic once I learned about rodeo. I participated in YRA, TYRA, THSRA, GCBRA, and other associations. I will never forget those years. Not only did she teach me how to ride, but she also taught me to train, and I was able to teach my barrel horse to Pole Bend. This ability took me to State in High School Rodeo the last 3 years of my High School career in my two events Barrels, and Poles. Now as a 34 yr old I am able to take the skills she taught me, and teach my children.

I can’t begin to say how great my experience has been with Becky. I highly recommend calling and talking to any trainer before you ride with them, or do a trial lesson. If you do a lesson or talk on the phone with the top 4-5 rated trainers in the area, Becky clearly will rank the highest in knowledge, background, and successful clients.First off, background. Becky has worked with quarter horses, Arabians, Paso finos and much more. She has developed and changed her teaching style over the years as she has learned new ideas and concepts with all this experience. That marks an amazing trainer in my books. The ability to adapt!Second, knowledge. Becky is a wealth of knowledge. When you take lessons with her, the lessons are the opposite of your local cowboy/cowgirl instructor yelling at you to kick and spur your horse as hard as hard as you can while yanking their nose around a barrel.Becky starts with the basics- saddle, bit, saddle pad. Are these working for your horse or hindering your horse?Next, how is your horse health wise? Does the horse need chiro work? Vet check? EtcOk... now to actually get on the horse. First thing Becky does is start at the beginning to correct bad riding habits/posture. She teaches you better form that instantly helps you get a better seat and be less in your horses way. After working on the basics, Becky works on building confidence for you AND your horse. Never pushing the horse before it is ready (most trainers mistakes!) and pushing you in a safe way (you are ready but don’t know it!)Attitude is another big lesson. Becky teaches the shy kids to come out of their shells and the outgoing kids to stay humble. She also does not allow beating on a horse when a human makes a riding error!I’ve seen every kid and adult that rides with Becky make HUGE progress, no matter what their goals are. My horse developed trailer problems and Becky spent 40 minutes after lessons to help get him over it. My horse was terrified of a pogo stick before lessons and Becky spent 20 minutes and got him over it.Becky goes above and beyond on everything! I highly highly recommend her above anyone else in the Greater Houston Area!
