By far one of the top BJJ gyms in the area. If youre looking to get a taste, their jiu jitsu and muay thai intro courses are amazing.

I joined after doing the intro no-gi class and have enjoyed it for the last 2 years. The gym is filled with courteous rolling partners that will challenge you but not smash you like theyre prepping for the UFC. Instructors actually take the time to learn your name and will give you specific pointers to improve your game.

When I joined Revolution BJJ a little over two years ago, I was looking for a new challenge and a distraction. What I got was a gym family and a new perspective on what I could do! The instructors are talented, supportive, and professional and have challenged me to push myself to achieve more than I thought I ever could at nearly 50 years old. Revolution and jiu jitsu have changed my life and I can’t wait to show up and train as often as possible. This gym is welcoming, safe, and friendly while offering dozens of classes a week to fit your schedule and skill level.

Petty good experience here. I love the vary of other type of grappling classes (judo, wrestling, self defense) that are supplemented in. Their scheduling works out well for a 9 to 5 job. They have flexible billing plans which is nice since I was only in Richmond temporary. Gym also has a chilled atmosphere.

I cannot say enough great things about this place. I travel for work all over the country and attend a lot of BJJ schools and did a drop in class here and everyone was amazing. The instructors are great, informative and just nice people. If you live in Richmond consider yourself lucky because this place is awesome.

My Son started with the kids intro class 3 years ago. My second Son, who just turned 5, began training this past January. The amount of hands on, positive coaching has been fantastic! All of the kids are fully engaged for the entire hour. The coach to child ratio is also very good. The flexibility of days in which the kids can attend class is a big help with a busy family life. This also comes in handy as they are involved in multiple other sports throughout the year. The best is my boys love it and come home exhausted! Exactly what young, energetic kids need!

Everything about this gym is great! The instructors are very knowledgeable and approachable. Owners are super intentional about keeping the gym clean. Community of folks who train here are incredibly friendly and supportive of one another. I have loved every minute I’ve trained here! They even have a Woman’s Rolling Class every week!

Started training at Revolution two years ago. What an awesome sport and awesome place. All of their instructors are top notch (instructive, friendly and humorous). As a testament, I pass several BJJ schools on the way to Revolution. Another testament is the schools growth in recent years. They have more then doubled their floor space due to demand. Highly recommend.

I love training at Revolution BJJ. I am always learning something new from the coaches. The coaches are open to questions and want you to train safely and often to get better. I would definitely recommend if you are looking women partners. There are a lot of women who train there! The place has a very friendly atmosphere!

Ive been training here almost 6 years and this school is great. There are a ton of people here, more classes than I know what to do with, and they focus on having intro programs to bring in and groom new students. Its a clean, fun and safety oriented environment, with great instructors. Highly recommended to anyone considering BJJ. Itll change your life!

Excellent school. A handful of black belts with great teaching skills and the higher up belts were also very helpful as well. Awesome facility with a good amount of mat space and it was very clean, something you should always pay attention to when searching for a school. Theyre also very kind to traveling BJJ practitioners, which is a bonus when you just want to get a few rolls in on a business trip or vacation. My BJJ has improved a ton from training there!

I cannot recommend Revolution enough. I grew up in richmond but do not live here anymore, so I am always looking for a place to train Jiu Jitsu when I am in town visiting family. A friend turned me on to the academy and I train here whenever I am in town. The instruction is top quality and the owners are always on-hand, or better yet teaching your class! Everyone is very friendly but if youre looking for competitive rolls you can definitely find them here. I am really impressed at the quality of the newer students as well. They have three large mats and seem to expand each year. Its a thriving academy, definitely check it out!

I completed a Jiu Jitsu Intro Class at Revolution with no prior martial arts experience and ended up (very surprisingly) loving the sport. A big part of that was because of the people and environment at this gym- you won’t find any “bro” culture here. I have been a member here now for almost a year and despite diving into a totally new hobby/sport, I have always found Revolution students to be friendly, encouraging, and helpful. The owners and instructors are very invested in their students, and in providing quality instruction in a safe, clean gym. There are also a ton of classes to choose from, ranging from 6am to 7:30pm during the week, along with Saturday classes and at various levels, which makes it very convenient to take things at your own pace and work with whatever kind of schedule you have. We also have a growing cohort of women who train regularly and get together outside of the gym several times a year, and we have a fb group for ongoing questions and support. I really just can’t say enough about this place, so if you want to dip your toe into the world of bjj, this is the place to do it!

My 11 yr old and 9 yr old both train here for Jiu-jitsu and Muy Thai, and I have to say my expectations have been exceeded in the quality of training and the professional, friendly atmosphere of the place. Its difficult to find a childrens training program that can balance both effective training and an aspect of fun to keep it interesting, but the staff at Revolution do it well. Very pleased, and this has been money well spent with their flexible monthly plans and intro programs to suit everyones schedule and level of commitment. Great job guys.

Ive been training Jiu-Jitsu for over 8 years and have had an opportunity to visit schools all up and down the east coast. BJJ Revolution-Richmond would be at the top of the list in regard to instruction, atmosphere, and facilities. The first moment I walked in thru BJJ Revolutions doors I was greeted by Andrew Smith, the head Jiu-Jitsu instructor. Andrew has an inviting and friendly personality and he is second to none in his teaching capabilities. His extensive competitive career on the mat only further strengthens those teaching skills. The atmosphere at BJJ Revolution is amazing. The training is intense, but remarkably technical, and everyone is constantly pushing each other to get better. I have learned a lot just from training with the other students there. All are helpful and friendly and I believe this is a direct reflection of Andrew and his fellow instructors. The facilities are spacious and kept very clean. There is a large matted space and changing room and shower on site.I would highly recommend BJJ Revolution to anyone interested in training Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, or Muay Thai.
