Campus is the best in the area compared to other universities, very clean and always well maintained. Security is good, they have cameras and phones everywhere in case of emergencies. They have a lot of valuable resources, like credit unions for best rates on auto loan.

Since Great Uncle Benjamin H. Anibal had a part in starting the University, I must give it 5 Stars! Uncle Ben told us stories about bringing prototype vehicles out to the farm in Linden MI when dad was a child. The Chief Engineer of Cadillac and later Pontiac Motor was a great pioneer Im glad to have known. Paul Anibal

So glad i spent my undergrad years here. The campus is beautiful and improving. Dorms are dated but the student apartments are nice if you can get in.Student life is good. The athletics program continues to improve and had instilled alot of pride in students and alum. The food court has many options for all diets. The education is second to none. An excellent engineering and health science program in conjunction with Beaumont hospital. The business school is improving and an outstanding honors college.

The worst administrative building ever. I sent over all of my transcripts to them and they received all but one, (which was sent to the same address) so they lost it, didn’t notify me of that I needed to do anything else or that there was something suspicious. Finally I called to see if I was accepted or not after waiting 2 weeks. They wouldn’t help me speed the process up at all so I had to resend the transcript and then wait another two weeks until I found out I was accepted. I had my financial aid in to them in the beginning of June for the fall semester and all the documents needed for them to process it. As I’m writing this it’s the second to last day to pay for college before I get cut out of my classes and I’m still waiting on my financial aid to go through. I’ve called them almost every day asking if it’s gone through or if there is anything else I can do to to help it get processed faster. I’ve been told numerous times there’s nothing else I can do and I just have to wait for them to process. I’m going to be cut from my classes because they haven’t processed my financial aid that’s been in for months. I’ve had everything done with more than enough time for them to DO THEIR JOBS. My whole future is going to be altered for their mistakes and incompetence. I’ve been on the phone with multiple customer service representatives and only ONE has been friendly to me. The rest do not care about the students going there. Everything that could go wrong at this college has, and I’ve never had any problems before at a college. It was the worst mistake of my life to chose to go here.

Pretty familiar with that first dorm built at the start of Oakland University ... Anibal House ;-) .... Great Uncle Benjamin H. Anibal, chief engineer of Pontiac Motor and formerly of Cadillac. He used to tell us how the only way anyone would order the electric start motor was to do away with the crank!

The school keeps raising tuition then they keep adding fees to all the ways to pay. I transferred from another school and was told that all my credits where transferable, but then when i got there I found out that they would not count to my degree, so I have retaken classes that i have already passed with a 4.0 all over again. I have enjoyed all my classes and professors but the school keeps trying to screw over the students as much as possible.

Possibly the worst school in the Midwest. No wonder the graduation rate is a pitiful 44 percent. The financial aid office is run by a bunch of incompetent people. They offer no help and are completely useless as they cannot answer simple questions nor follow the law.

Former student...had a great time but I saw in the news that, Oakland University wants students to protect themselves with hockey Pucks, lol...they want 17+ year olds to respond to a active shooter( btw a scary situation) with pucks to try to knock him/her out...lol, no. Is everyone a expert puck thrower?...can they throw concussion head shots all the time??? Can a 17+ year old in a high stress situation( that they have not trained for) accurately throw a puck( not a lethal weapon) to knock a active shooter out??? Can a older teacher 40+ handle themselves on a high stress situation that they have not trained for??? What if the active shooter is on drugs...I doubt him/her even cares about pain because they are ready to die. Look at the new reports yourselves(students/teachers/civilians) & not what someone tells you...the Florida shooting was a failure on the parents, school, & law enforcement.

The billing department and cashiers office is not run professionally at all. I was screamed at, sworn to, and then hung up on while calling back on a voicemail. Further digging on my part showed an error on the systems behalf leaving a balance on my account for over a year. At that point I was contacted, charged a late fee, and sent to several voicemails while just trying to get some answers and pay my balance. Did I mention I was left on hold for 15+ min multiple times while trying to find answers and my voicemails were not returned for several days/ up to a week at one point. Very unprofessional.

I am choosing Oakland University as a last resort! I can not afford Michigan Tech or Ann Arbor, Which both had accepted me, thus leaving me with Oakland. What makes Oakland university so bad, is not its staff or its teaching methods or even its ridiculous curriculum for an electrical engineer. It is its location and open security. A couple miles in the opposite direction lies Pontiac and rural part of rochester. My girl friend had all of her equipment stolen, books, computers, wallet, etc. And yet, the security were only able to do so little. The head of the police was only to leave me with a more critical response, This happens all the time, and this man had done this before. I was baffled to hear the tale on their lack of concern and Oaklands approach on this occurring matter. OAKLAND UNIVERSITY IS NOT A SAFE SCHOOL. Theyre just another bureaucracy. If you have another option for a school, take it! Like i said before, this is my only alternative.

The campus layout is confusing, there is no parking near where you have to go and theres so much construction, walking on campus is treacherous. Its nice that the library is open 24/7 and that there is a bus line. The food is okay at Vandenberg, at the OC its pretty decent, but can be pricy. The ou police presence is nice, the tuition keeps rising at an awful rate and living on campus is ridiculously expensive.

I am an alumni of OU. I have applied for a job there several times and will not even get an interview! I am experienced for the jobs posted as they were the ones who trained me. Plus there were other female classmates that were hired and I did not even get a single interview. How can they turn away their own especially since I graduated with honors? As for the school program, be cautious and really examine all of the program requirements. They neglect to tell you everything and give a lot of false hope and promises. Had I known then what I know now, I would have selected an entirely different program and a different school. Classmates and professors were not a problem, but the administration and their lack of information is little to be desired.
