The Study Abroad office there is pretty bad! (so dogmatic and presiding over students will) the direct exchange programs they offer are also very limited. they sent students abroad through third agents and do not want to take responsibilities for students.

I woke up one day to the Harry potter theme coming from the library building. If anyone knows if they take requests, please let me know I am an up in coming rapper and I can pay pay in exposure

The campus is really close to the city but it remains its own thing. It is very peaceful.

Received a Covid Test, car lines were long but moved fight along. Then had to stand outside awhile but went smoothly. Staff was very kind.

U of R was great the Environment Staff was Awesome they are very hard workers. Keeping the Campus clean and especially during this Pandemic 5 Stars for All there Hardwork.

Nice campus good food at the pit. But some of the covid safety things arent the best.

I know nothing of the academics here, but I have attended U of R for several conferences in the past, and on that front alone, Ive loved it. The architecture of the buildings are so beautiful; if I wasnt there on business I would absolutely wander around for a while. Theres clearly a fair amount of money thrown into the insides of the buildings as well; everything is beautifully laid out. It feels more or less what a college in a movie made for teens would feel like, its so perfect.

Campus has a good amount of green space, buildings are pretty well designed. Dorms could use some work, but overall I liked the campus. I cant speak towards how the academics are, as I just visited the campus, but the school seems to be pretty good.

The University of Rochester is excellent in academics. The campus is also beautiful, especially the library. However, its location is not the most attractive nor the most safe.

The courses are difficult and prepare you for the real world where nothing is fair. However, I did meet many great people who i established a strong bond with thanks to the difficult circumstances of studying at this institution. Really does toughen you up. Wouldnt exchange my experience at this place for a million dollars and wouldnt do it again for a million dollars. Ever better.

You dont get better than this campus. And the academics are great. Everything about this school is amazing. Despite what anyone says about safety here, its being too far away from campus thats dangerous. The campus itself has no issues whats so ever.

Home to the most interesting people Ive met in my life, this place is amazing.

University of Rochester has several campuses. The major one, River Campus, is just next to Genesee River. Most buildings in the River Campus are very old, and the way-finding system is terrible. Expect huge amount of time finding buildings, working out the tunnel routes, and looking for a parking lot. However, those efforts are definitely worthy-a Greek-Revival style, featuring the great Rush Rhees Library-it is an extremely beautiful campus!

Great school that gave my daughter amazing opportunities. Shes now in medical school working on her M.D. degree. She really loved UR and was able to work in the hospital nearby to help pave the way to medical school.

Definitely worth it, I would say that the people are nice, my social life wasnt crazy, but the academic level is high and the campus is gorgeous. Do mind that it can get extremely chilly and if you dont like the cold weather, this is not the place for you. One of the things I really disliked is that the 19th Ward is not the safest community, avoid walking alone at night if you cross the bridge.

What it lacks in parking, consistent campus beauty, it makes up for in academic rigor, tradition, reputation, and awesome professors. Proud to be going here. As a transfer, I took my first semester much lighter than I should have.. definitely dont go in assuming its going to be much harder than your previous school. Go in assuming that its the hardest academic rigor youll ever face and plan accordingly.

I love the teachers, students, and campus of this school, but it truly screws you over. Financial aid is barely existent, the administrators do not really care about students, and everything is over priced. Not worth the money. UR needs to change, because right now it is a dying school, which is only being funded by IVY League rejects. I wish I hadnt become attached to my friends and professors here, otherwise I would be gone. Dont support this schools poor money management and policies. This is a business, not a place of education.

UofR is a terrible hospital that employs drug addicts and psychos. I know from first hand experience, their location Clinton Crossing building D literally the worst! I saw one female employee smoking weed in her car and then while getting out of my vehicle saw her open a pill bottle and pop a few! Her car was an older model green volvo station wagon at the time (march 5th) 2018 then this girl actually checked out my disabled brother, and she handed me the wrong paperwork at first! Thankfully i noticed! Talk about a hippa violation at its finest i took note of her name (Cori) and made contact with her boss who did absolutely nothing about it! I basically got hung up on for voicing my concerns about the staff handling medical information. In fact i even found her facebook i was so enraged and thought about posting it here with my review! Please everyone be careful at this location and id suspect all of them honestly

Its ok, but the price makes it not worth it.

Do not go here if you are a transfer student. They will make you live off campus and do nothing to introduce you to the college. The area is not safe, the options are expensive, old, run-down apartments or shared housing in an unsafe neighborhood. The school takes in more students than they can hold. The professors are generally nice people, but a great majority of them are TERRIBLE at teaching. The grades in the Psych classes (my major) are determined by two or three exams alone, and the exams dont test understanding, merely the students ability to memorize information. A lot of them rely on TAs to grade, and some of them to teach, which makes it very impersonal. A lot of the classes are 100-300 students and a lot of the students dont even care enough to come to class! There are some good professors and grad students who actually care about the students understanding, but they are hard to find. Once you find them, youd want to take all of their classes, but you cant because chances are you are in one of the two classes they teach and the other class you already took with a different professor. Ive heard awful things about the professors in other departments as well, especially the chemistry and biology departments. The English department (with the exception of freshmen writing classes) seems to be pretty good, though. Also, the food is terrible and they make the students living on campus to have meal plans much larger than they are able to use. There is nowhere you can go to study outside of your dorm room alone because all public study areas are packed at all hours of the day. The school doesnt seem to care much about their students and the students (most of whom came from private high schools with amazing opportunities kids who went to public school could only dream about) seem to be interested in drinking more than anything else. The only students who try are those planning on going into grad school. There have also been an insane amount of student deaths and muggings at this school. Dont go here; youll regret it.

Its not all that bad bear there is crime is crime in most major cities and this blacklivesmatter thing is just knock it off because every life matters Im pretty sure that Ive been victimized to buy black people as well as whites but lets not keep stats on everything lets continue to try to make the planet a better place for us all

No idea why they didnt stay downtown. The campus is inconvenient and surrounded by parking lots.

Fantastic. Simply one of the best unknown known universities in the USA. Top professors (who are accessible!), innovative top leadership, competent management and trustee involvement and governance, a beautiful campus (yes, located in a drab city); attracts really bright, NICE people who are curious and want to... LEARN HOW TO LEARN! The undergraduate students at the U of R have one of the highest levels of achievement in earning advanced degrees in the entire United States.The ratings and qualifications of this university under the direction of its current leader, Joel Seligman, is truly remarkable. One person in this survey who transferred in to the U of R gave it a one star... and that pulled down the ratings average. Remove that outlier (who is likely an unfortunately unhappy person to begin with), and the ratings score rise s to a near perfect 5.0.David Kudish - 1965 - Chemical Engineering

Located in an unsafe part of the city with very lax campus security, the school does not provide value for its highly overpriced tuition. Dorm rooms have been robbed and students have been mugged thanks to the easy walkway bridge crossing the Genessee River into a rather rough neighborhood. Parking is a nightmare for students and this is worsed by the city which looks for any vicious manner to ticket students who park on nearby city streets. This is because the city has a rather contentious relationship with the university. For such a world-class faculty with excellent facilities, the campus seems to be located in Bizarro-World. However, if you are an avid user of crack-cocaine and heroin, then this is the campus for you!
