My little 7 year old daughter is brand new to working with and riding horses, and she has enjoyed her lessons and summer camp over the past months. The lesson horses are so sweet, gentle and well trained. Everyone has been very nice to work with. There is a bit of a “DIY” element when you arrive, but it is usually not difficult to find someone or ask a youth assistant for help. My daughter has a learning disability, and so we have had a bit of a challenge in working with a different trainer each time until recently. Just an idea from a specific perspective which may not be general enough: a suggestion to offer new riders the option to ride the same horse on every lesson where possible, and same trainer preferred. Being able to use the same horse would allow us newcomers to know what they look like and can more easily tack the horse up, as well as easing some anxiety for younger ones.I would like to to say that we have LOVED working with Summer the past few weeks. She has been extremely responsive to my daughters level of experience (which is ultra beginner with some anxiety still around horses), getting her comfortable in the saddle and working on form. Summer is great with small children, is very professional, and very kind. I wish we had been able to work with Summer the whole time, and we are grateful for the progress we have been able to make so far. Thank you!

Horribly disrespectful and after explaining that our daughter was new to riding and was not ready for a transition to a larger horse after only a few lessons. They forced her to get on a larger one and then intentionally put my 6 yr old In a position likely to get hurt. After addressing it the owner called yelling at us and being degrading to my wife. They put her back on a small horse them ran it in circle as if to prove a point till my kid fell off after asking her to just stop the lesson. I highly suggest staying away from this facility for lessons or even boarding as the conditions they keep the horses in are dangerous and disgusting.

We have had my 6 yr old in lessons for a little time. She has never been on a horse until these lessons she has a small pony at home but nothing more she was on a lunge line and came off the horse on her 4th lesson since then she has been terrified of anything bigger than her pony I had to cancel my last lesson due to pouring rain! I was still charged a cancellation fee of $47 I understand we waited but it was not raining that day until that afternoon and pouring when our appt was! We had another lesson today at 12 noon about 10:30 I start getting texts from her instructor asking if we can get on another horse who is smaller than the current on we are riding but he is not as trained as the other which I was not about due to her falling off. Then ask about a different horse named Chester I did not know anything about so I kept asking why is BeeBop not available?? I kept getting different responses not answering my question.. the owner text me to call so me and my mother in law do bc she is the one charged for the lessons and this lady proceeds to keep saying she don’t know why we are arguing all kinds of stuff when we did not want My 6 yr old on another horse due to her falling off and her being scared not knowing BeeBop was not available today for the lesson bc they already rode two lessons on him today so we explain we are not going back, she charged our card like we went to a lesson for $67 that we did not get due to them texting about changing horses an hour in a half before the lesson. Then has the audacity to text me after charging the card and us telling her we will not be back that she doesn’t think it’s a good fit for us a complete joke this lady is! Do not take a child her completely unprofessional & rude.

Sent my daughter to one of Ellen’s summer camps. I was pleased, but not thrilled. All my daughter wanted to do was spend time with the horses. She was able to spend the first three hrs of the day with the horses, but the last 4 hrs a day were spent “hanging out” or swimming. My daughter chose to do barn chores in the afternoons just to be close to the horses. I wish my daughter had been able to spend more time doing what she loves & what I had paid for.

If you or your child is sensitive at all, don’t take lessons here. I left my lesson crying with zero confidence I don’t want to leave a bad review, but this is something I wish I would have known before ever going.

So blessed to have found this gem! So very close to our home, such great people. Ellen has taught Peyton an enormous amount in the short time she has joined RHEC. Peyton is doing recognized eventing shows with Ellen by her side and all of her students. Ellen is so passionate about her horses, her schooling horses and her boarding horses. The barn family is icing on the cake. Its a village of passion for animals and people. Oh and we sorta kinda like lots of dogs🐶🐕🐅

I started riding at RHEC a little over a year ago after many years in the hunter jumper world and wanting to learn eventing. It was one of the best decisions Ive made! The lesson / sales horses are top notch. They have horses for all levels - from quiet ones for kids / adults just starting out to horses that can easily jump 4 ft courses. The culture is so welcoming and friendly. Thanks to Ellen and the other trainers, my riding and confidence over higher fences and on OTTBs has greatly improved. Highly recommend riding here!

High quality facility that welcomes all levels of riders. My quarter horse with a Western background feels welcome alongside the cross country eventers. Great place for kids, novice riders, and high level competitors as well. No drama allowed is the number one barn rule, which is much appreciated. Highly recommend for boarding, lessons, and training.

AWESOME barn and barn family!! Everyone here is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Ellen is an amazing rider and instructor, and the barn staff are outstanding. There are tons of hills for conditioning and trails, large grassy pastures, and a really nice indoor arena. So happy I found this place when I moved to Rockwall!

I had been looking to get back into riding for years but never really found the barn that I was looking for until RHEC. I found RHEC Jan 2018 and I havent looked back! Its 35 min out from where I live in uptown, but its totally worth the drive. They have lessons everyday that can suit any schedule for busy adults like myself. Since I started riding with Ellen I have improved in my riding SO much more than I had in years when I was younger. She motivates me and all her students to get better. The barn family is also so great! Everyone is very welcoming and supportive. We are all there for the same reason, to be around and share each others love for horses!!

There are too many great things to share about RHEC! I was raised showing horses and decided to get back into riding after over 20 years with my 10 year daughter. The trainers and staff Placed us on the best horses for our skill level. My daughter has lacked confidence at times with learning but they have continued to meet her physical and emotional needs every step of the way. This has helped make her a more confident and skilled rider. In June Ellen helped us find the perfect horse for our family. Shortly after we bought him he had a leg infection, the team at RHEC contacted us immediately and provided the best care for our horse helping him heal quickly. We are 100% confident that our horse receives the best care daily from a top notch facility and staff. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, fun, family friendly atmosphere. Then RHEC is the place to be.

Moving to RHEC was one of the best decisions Ive ever made. I know my older horse is cared for each day by knowledgable and attentive staff. Despite not fitting the eventing scheme this program is famous for, they treat him as one of their own and give him everything he needs. As an added bonus, Ive gotten back into riding through their lesson program and have fallen in love with the sport all over again. Im fortunate enough to learn from a lot of talented teachers and riders alike. I look forward to every trip I take out to RHEC.

We’ve been a part of the RHEC family for 5 months now and could not be happier with our barn experience. We have four young daughters and started coming to the barn with a one month old, 2 year old, 4 year old, and 6 year old. We first came for a birthday party but then fell in love with a pony that was for sale and purchased her and have continued to board her here. Not many barns would WELCOME a family of so many little kids, and as a parent I wouldn’t feel comfortable for my kids to be at a barn with so many different horses BUT that’s what makes RHEC so unique. I grew up with horses and competing and am familiar with the barn scene and I have been incredibly impressed with the professionalism, the kindness, and the acceptance from the staff, as well as the temperaments of all the horses, from Ellen’s brand new OTTBs to her seasoned show horses to the other boarders’ horses to the lesson horses they are all SAFE and gentle. We are so happy to call RHEC our barn home.
