I like the values being taught, focusing in respect and discipline. The classes are very well structured and also made fun for the kids. I have seen a lot of improvement in my kids self confidence. their good attitude in class also transfers over to home where we also see a big difference in the way they behave. Overall just great.

I just called to get prices and schedule, to see if I could fit in my grandson, and the guy insisting to go for a 2 week trial and refuse to give me their prices, why so suspicious about how much they charge 🤔, I decided Not to go with them! His authoritarian voice is his way or the high way.

My son is very shy and Ive noticed how much more confidence he has gained every time we went into class. He loves coming home to show his grandparents and brother the new things he has learned. I am glad I was able to find a class that can show him respect, confidence, and self defense. The best choice I could make for my son, im just waiting for my youngest to turn 4 so I can also have him join.

We found Alamo Ranch Martial Arts through a Facebook advertisement. They offered 21 days of free instruction with the purchase of a uniform. We went three times a week for three weeks and by the end we were sold. Mr. G shows the kids respect, and his students really like him. One thing we would do different would be to spend time watching his established students to assess their level of competence and how they react to the instructor. After finishing the 21 day program and signing up for classes we got to see established students. The other students are receptive, disciplined, and they all have fun in class. Mr. G makes sure to involve parents in the training, and we like that. I think it helps our 4 y/o know that were all in it together. Alamo Ranch Martial Arts is a bit far from home for us, and we could certainly find another place closer, but we wont. Our kid has fun, and is already showing better discipline. Wed certainly recommend Mr. G to anyone considering putting their child in martial arts.

Ive been really impressed with Alamo Ranch Martial Arts during the time my child has been enrolled in the 3 week challenge. The challenge was explained thoroughly and upfront, with everyone knowing what is expected of them. Its a good chance to see what the school has to offer, if your child enjoys it, and what your child gets out of it, both physically, mentally and in attitude. And there is indeed return on that time spent. The instructors care about the children, and work to incorporate good behavior, and attitude both on and off the mat. Weve liked it so much, weve decided to enroll our child outside the challenge, and look forward to her progress while attending.

We have really enjoyed our experience over the last year and a half. My son enjoys it, he gets exercise, and they teach him manners, respect and more that applies to life outside the mat. Mr. Guevara takes a real interest in the kids and has honestly been a pleasure to work with. Yes, it costs money, but nothing is hidden or shady. It’s all about what you decide you want out of the program. I would definitely recommend.

I originally posted a great review upon starting with Alamo Ranch Martial Arts. I read reviews and had a gut feeling after the first couple of months but my boys enjoyed it so I didnt think twice about letting them stay. Little did I know what I was in for upon withdrawing my kids. Mr. Guevara is a very nice guy and will go above and beyond to get you in to sign the contract and his marketing skills will definitely keep you there until your child/children have outgrown it and youre ready to give the competition a shot. Our contract...yes there is a contract... although everything he says leads to to believe its not. We gave a 60 day notice and our contact ended yesterday, September 2 on a holiday and the new billing cycle started today and we were charged a full $278 dollars despite giving a 60 day notice which we did. We were even fine with being charged for the 1st few days of September even September the 1st fell on a Sunday and they were closed yesterday because of the holiday. The admin who handles the payments at the front desk told us it would be prorated and his response was they were wrong Unfortunately, it is becoming evident that the business will not sustain itself because morally and ethically, theres a lot of work to be done. You will be stuck losing money if you sign up here because in the end hes trying to make up for all those that drop out after the 3 week challenge. Keep in mind, the money wasnt an issue but to do this to someone is mere garbage. I say he needs the money more than we do so prayers go out to him and his business.

Sooo I was not going to leave a mark about ‘how I feel about this place’ but since they want to REPORT TO MY CREDIT, I am definitely going to say a few words of criticism.THEY ARE GREEDY MONEY PEOPLE!The day I walked into Karate Academy, they were nice. Signed my kid up for their program and went about my day. A few months later, I came across a hard time and needed to relocate (across town). When I explained this to Karate Academy, they were stuck on the money money money. I just paid his last month there To be courteous... however, I could no longer pay for any more classes. Sooooo what do they do, continue to try and charge me! So I change my card. NOW they are reporting to my credit that I owe them 1,000+ dollars. They are greedy, inconsiderate. And expensive for no reason! Classes are short and not worth the price.

The challenge starts with the parent going into fill out the challenge contract and to pay the $39.95 plus tax, so $43.25. Youll either be told that the challenge is free and you need to pay for the uniform, or the sign on the side of the road will say the challenge is $39.95 with a free uniform. Either way, you are paying $39.95 for a Century karate uniform that costs $34.99 from their website. Dont worry, youll make recoup the other $5 on the orientation day.At orientation, youll be given a little gift bag with some notes in it thanking you. Theres also a t-shirt for the kids and a $5 Starbucks gift card in it. Orientation lasts about 30 minutes. Pay attention during orientation and note when any of the instructors qualify themselves to actually teach Karate. In order to graduate, the students must earn their white belt and then 3 black stripes and 3 colored stripes on their belt. The white belt gets earned very quickly, my child received it on the 2 day going. For the little ones, they just have to stand still for 10 seconds, older ones have to recite the student creed. Once they have their belt, now the focus is on earning the red, white and blue stripes and the 3 black stripes. The red stripe is given by the instructor for being good in class. It happens quick, after all why would Johnny or Suzy want to come back if they arent earning anything (instant gratification). The white stripe is earned by the student getting a note from their teacher saying they are good. The blue stripe is earned by the parent writing a note saying how much Johnny or Suzy has improved since starting the challenge. The 3 black stripes get earned during the last week of the challenge for doing the same thing over and over again. Meaning that each of the 3 black stripes gets earned for doing the exact same thing. Each class is very similar. Making an X with their arms. Holding the arms to their chest. Holding their arms up in the air to make a big V and standing at attention with their arms to their side. Additionally they learn how to put an arm over their head to block a pool noodle attack, as well as duck and jump. Also during class the kids will do a lot of jumping jacks, punch paper and do army crawls across the mat. Stranger danger is also a big part of the class. The kids are taught what to say and how to react when a stranger tries to grab their arm. This is a big marketing tool as it speaks to the parents wanting to make sure Johnny or Suzy can protect themselves from strangers.Part of the challenge is a parents meeting with Mr. Victor Geno Guevara Jr (Google him). Hes going to try and figure out what the problem is with Johnny or Suzy and then explain how martial arts can help fix it. Hell try very hard to be sincere, but keep in mind, hes a salesman working to turn an intro into a contract. Then hes going to draw a belt, with 3 stripes on each side and explain again the physical and the personal development thats needed to be successful in martial arts and in life. Hes going to tell you that to sign up, theres a $250 membership fee the monthly tuition ranges from $139 to $199. Then hell tell you that if you sign up today, hell take off $100 from the membership fee. What he doesnt tell you at this point is that every time Johnny or Suzy tests for a new belt, you are paying $50 or more on top of the monthly tuition. Hell also forget to tell you about the required gear that must be purchased from them, another couple hundred. Finally, were at graduation day. This is where Johnny or Suzy with their white belt, 3 black stripes and 3 colored stripes are going to test for a gold belt (camouflage with a yellow stripe, $7.99 from Century). They do jumping jacks, they make an X with their arm and they defend against a padded foam stick attack. The kids love it and are very proud of their accomplishment. Now, hopefully as a good parent, you see the joy in Johnny or Suzys eyes and sign that contract.

I let him know in writing by email and text a full explanation that my son will no longer be attending his school. It is not affordable to us and with 1 vehicle and my husband working out of town now we are unable to attend his classes. He is refusing to accept my email and text message letting him know about our situation and is stating that we need to go in and fill out a cancellation form. And we still need to pay for tuition. I have asked him to mail me a cancellation form and i can fax it back to him and he is also refusing that as well. They have attempted to charge our bank 3 different amounts this week alone but we have since froze our bank institution because of them.

You all know how Deuce worked so hard over 3 years to become a black belt! We stood beside him, cheered for him, cried with him and congratulated him! It took 3 full years of hard work, dedication and about $10,000 to get him to this point. This all came to a wonderful end July 28th and he became a black belt with Karate Academy. We went through 3, one year contracts with Karate Academy, now Alamo Ranch Martial Arts, off Culebra Rd with Geno Guevara, his mother Aurora Guevara and his 1 other instructor Isaac Gonzales. They decided they didn’t want to let us go even after I told them we were done and decided to send me to Phoenix Recovery Group here in San Antonio for collections. They want me to pay them for services not rendered for a year! Yes! You read that right. September 2018-September 2019 for $2,258 total! How nice would that be? Get paid for nothing? WOW! Can I just say how unhappy this makes me!? Get this though, when I reached out to Geno Guevara (screen shots in the pictures) he said I would have to take it up with the collection company. That’s weird, I thought they collected for debts? I don’t have a contract with you or your new Company Alamo Ranch Martial Arts. My contract was over on August 3rd. Geno, do you remember giving Brittny Baldwin Betts the award for “Most Social Media Presence”? Yea, you’ve not met me yet. I gave you fair warning and a chance to make this right. You hid behind your bad decision instead.Phoenix Recovery Group has also sent threatening emails, snail mail and won’t stop calling even after I have stated that is not a valid debt and asked them to produce the contract. They haven’t stopped or sent the contract. In fact, I just got a call from them about 20 min ago.Fair Warning to anyone thinking about joining, or even trying, Alamo Ranch Martial Arts just because they’re close to home.
