Love this school. Great teacher to student ratio and dedicated teachers and admins. Covid was tough but hope they open in person in the fall.

This is a lovely school with incredible teachers. i am in the visual arts department, a junior at this school. I have been here for 3 years and throughout that time i have had a lovely experience. ignore the other reviewer. this school is extremely understanding, and so are the teachers of everyones views. it is much harder to get in now, because apparently they give everyone an audition now. The choosing of who gets in is not racist, as there are many students of all races who get into their desired department. In order to get in, you must be exceptionally excellent at your audition and in your portfolio. Race does not account for anything.

One of the best public schools in San Francisco. My daughter loves this school. The academic classes are excellent and her art discipline has improved her technique 10 fold. We are so glad we sacrificed a little to make the long and early trip to this school.

Seems like Admin does nothing to problem solve situations and they always act like their hands are tied in any situation that they should be able to fix. They lock the boys bathrooms as a way of punishment for not keeping it clean. Great PE class.

This is a review of the track (open to the public) situated behind the school, next to the park.Well-maintained and virtually empty on Saturdays! Use the entrance on OShaughnessy to get down to the track area; the other side is usually gated and youd have to hop a fence to get in.

I would put zero stars if I could.

THE BEST SCHOOL I EVER WENT TO!!!! when i first auditioned for this school, i wasnt sure if i wanted to come here. however, after the first day of school, i fell in love. Even if you do not want to become an artist, you can still come here to improve your skills.

Not particularly comprehensive academics

My daughter goes to SOTA and loves it. The level of talent at SOTA is off the charts high, pre-professional doesnt even begin to describe it. We are so fortunate in San Francisco to have such a unique school. The students are highly motivated and creative. The teachers have high standards for both academics and the art disciplines. Our concern in choosing SOTA over other private schools was purely about academic rigor. This concern has been proven baseless. Freshman classes are very challenging, especially Advanced Algebra and Honors English. If you have the opportunity to join this wonderful community, dont hesitate.
