Love her classes!!! Literally the most caring and dedicated ballet teacher ever. She helped my friend and I (who had little to no ballet experience) go on pointe shoes within a year.Classes are offered at Alonzo Lines Dance Studio on 7th St and Market St.

This is not a ballet class for absolute beginners, but if you are looking for one which welcomes teen and adult students of all ages and abilities, then try Kathy Matas. And dont be afraid: while Kathy is serious about dance and technique, she is also caring, careful, compassionate...and often funny. You will get a well-paced advanced-beginners ballet class (mostly Vaganova), with eagle-eye corrections (if you want them, and you should; even top professional dancers are always working to improve). Ballet is challenging, but its fun --- and its a great way to get exercise and toned!
