I just love this place. Been coming here for 7 years now. Hope they open soon... I get my hair colored and cut every 8 weeks. They take amazing care of me and really listen to what i want. The instructors never change. Those guys are all amazing. I would list all their names but they know who they are. They are always upbeat and make sure everyone is comfortable with whats going on. The students change over all the time but they are pretty amazing. And they are learning. The price is also amazing. Seriously if you compare to other salons. Anyways, open open open!

I adore this place. Ive been going for years and its the absolute best deal in the city. Theyre students, so theyre learning, but Ive only had good experiences and find the whole environment charming and very professional. There are learning leads on the floor with whom the student checks in with multiple times during the process and they are truly excellent. Be generous with your tips--youre paying a lot less for great work!

I was devastated when I found out that Marinellos on Market had closed: now where was I going to get my beauty school haircuts? A quick search on Google yielded a couple of options, but I decided to try SFIEC based on its reviews. The experience was fantastic! A friendly student treated my requests with respect, and her learning lead came by at the beginning and the end of the haircut to double-check everything. My nine-inch ponytail came off in one fell swoop for me to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, and the resulting style makes me feel like a brand new person. It doesnt hurt that Ive gotten numerous compliments on it. Ill be coming back here for my next haircut!

What a great surprise, and right around the corner! I was looking for a place to get a haircut and came across this place on my Google search. The staff was incredibly nice, and fun to be around. And the most important part, the quality on the haircut was top notch! I am so happy with the results that I already have a follow up appointment, and I will come back to get a couple other services! Having a facial done here was amazing. From the skin consultation to the final product review - my esthetician Kat was professional, informative, and thorough in meeting my needs. She addressed my skin concerns and I was amazed how much better (no redness!) my skin looked afterward. Such a fantastic value for skin and hair care!

I went here a few times for facials and haircuts and love it. For the facials, theyre always very thorough and I love how much they explain to you.The haircuts also turn out lovely each time. Theres always someone checking the work at the end soo you can be assured of a good outcome. And again I find it really fun to listen to all the teaching around me.

Love coming here! Because all of the staff here are students, they always do a very thorough, incredible job. An instructor always comes by to check the hairstylists work before and after the cut, which is amazing. I prefer coming here to most hair salons because of their care and attentive supervision.

My girlfriend and I come all the time. She had talked me into getting barber visits here and oh boy has this been an amazing experience each time. The students here are great. Ricky who has cut my hair twice was very patient and really focused his craft in barbering. From start to finish, it was a great visit.

My first beauty school hair cut! Fun place to get an inexpensive, but excellent hair cut. The student was supervised closely by an instructor and was able to ask any questions she needed, which resulted in a great cut of my extra course, thick and inconsistently wavy hair...usually a formula for a bad hair cut. This cut has been easy to style. The atmosphere was surprisingly professional.

Ive been going to Jungmin to get my hair done for about 4 years and my first visit to Atelier by Tiffany was after she moved here last year. The shop has a really nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

I got the best haircut of my life here! I saw a Phase Two student, Joanne, who did an amazing job cutting 8+inches off my hair and giving me a layered bob. I would definitely go back! Wash, cut, and blow-dry were only $20.

Hi, I visited here yesterday for a basic color. Student named Sabrina was very slow. I was there from 1-4:30. The color was supposed to be as close to my natural color as possible (closer to a brown than a black) however the color once the color was washed it was very close to a jet black. Also the most unprofessional thing was that even though the student spoke very good English she and the teacher (guy with a grey hat) were talking in Spanish. I asked her one time what did he say in Spanish? It was very rude. I was also left with a very visible black dye boarder around my face. Not happy. Bad experience.

Ssoonie is definitely the best hair stylist I have had encountered in CA so far. I have been to several different Korean hair salons. I never regularly go anyone of them. However, Im sure Ill come back and find ssoonie! He totally understands what I want and he delivers. The result is amazing, even beyond my expectation. If you ever plan to visit here, find ssoonie. I love it! The place I will continue to getMy Do Done!!! They always get the color and cuts right. Also got my make up and lashes done my first visit. The students and staff are all top class professionally minded!!!! Not pricey at all either. Well worth the experience and they make a great cup of coffee!!

After many years of getting my hair cut and colored at professional salons, I decided to try this beauty school and I am just as happy if not more so with the results. Bring a photograph with you of the color or cut you like/want, or both. Your role in guiding the budding hairdresser is useful for them. I found the quality of the color just superb -- even my husband likes it. Everyone is very professional, friendly and helpful. Keep in mind, though, that 1) you will have a different stylist every time you return; 2) there will be an occasional boo-boo (these are students); 3) try to schedule the creative, who is supposed to have more experience. Other than that, its a phenomenal value.

Check in was fast and student beautician was fast and friendly. However, the school didnt have color block for the edge of my face to my hairline and my student beautician left me with a color line around my face where she dyed my hair. I was disappointed that Ill have to live with his line on my face for several days until it wares off. Im keeping my fingers crossed that its gone by Saturday. T

The student who gave my hair a trim and colored it worked closely with a supervisor to get the right shade.The supervisor informed me something which I did not know which was that my last color there was a type of color done on gray hair and I dont have gray hair so that was interesting. Im happy with the color the way it is now though.because the weather is so cold Im happy with the cut as well but I havent had a cut there in about 6 months so if the weather was warmer I would have asked for more hair to be cut off but as it is now Im glad I have what I have.

What an experience...first off, very affordable haircut with extremely friendly and talented students. theres instructors and higher level students at all times double checking your hair as well to make sure everything technique is done as nicely as possible. staff is great, the location is super cool (getting a hair cut in front of a window on the second floor!), and the prices are unbeatable

Ive been working here for 5 years as an Admissions & I love coming to work everyday! I love seeing the students confidence grow as they move through the program & it is such a joy to see them graduate! On a daily basis I run into my graduates all over San Francisco. I couldnt imagine working anywhere but here. I truly love this place.

I had an age smart treatment. The experience was fantastic. Lisa was very very good. I felt very comfortable and relaxed. The results were amazing. What upsets me is that what I believe was a 75 min. treatment for $60.00 ended up being $115.00. I did purchase the dermalogica solar defense booster was that $55.00? If it was that is ridiculous. My bad for not keeping the receipt and asking the price of the sun screen. What I thought I was getting at a set price was not what transpired. Believe me the service was perfect. It was the outcome and the sticker shock that upset me. Money is not the issue. If you quote a price on your skin service menu abide by it. I would like an explanation from one of your staff.

I got a facial in the MicroZone by Gianna. She was so lovely and sweet, and very gentle with my face. The experience was so relaxing, like ones Ive had at other facials, and even better than some where she wrapped my body in the sheet and put on a blanket so I wouldnt get cold lying there.She helped work on some of my blackheads, and gave me advice on what to do after. I felt like my skin was glowing! Everything was very sanitary and the instructor who assisted her also participated and looked at my skin to confirm Giannas diagnosis. I felt confident that they knew what they were doing. It was awesome!

They helped me donate my hair to Locks of Love, they had the forms and everything. So those of you with long hair and want a new look (hopefully thats why your reading this review) just phone in an appointment and theyre more than willing to help you out.It was really crowded, I brought two friends, they werent able to be near me cause it was crowded in the salon area. I need advice for the cut and didnt want it to come out a disaster. But it was WONDERFUL. I just told my stylist that I wanted it low maintenance and will look good while growing out and food for my face shape. He also offered me coffee, tea or water. I went into a coughing fit so he got me water.Although the cut took a while, about an hour or so. It was still pretty good for $25. But since its a student I would understand, since theyd be graded on it. The instructor came by twice, once as a consult and 2nd time to notify my stylist it was almost his next appointment. She was really nice and asked if I had any questions and if I liked the cut he gave me. Which I did.The waiting area is REALLY small, so at most 6 people can sit, the rest are forced to stand.

Ive visited San Francisco Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology twice in the last two months and both times I had a great experience. Kat did my root touch-ups and she was fabulous. She is very knowledgeable, professional and has a warm and friendly demeanor. I highly recommend Kat and SF Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology.

I went there recently for a haircut and the first thing I notice is that the atmosphere is professional and friendly. They offer me something to drink while I wait, which wasnt a long wait, within minutes I was seated. My stylist Ruslan, did a great job with explaining what he will be doing to my hair after I asked him for a pompadour cut. He took great care and attention to details, making sure that I am satisfied before I left. It was well worth my trip and it was a great experience. I would return once my hair grows again.

Great attention to detail and very affordable. Expect your hair cut to take a while, but thats to be expected. Each time Ive gotten my hair cut here, the students have been very attentive and very focused on helping me identify what I want and how they can help me achieve that cut. Extended hours some weeknights to help your schedule!

Im about a third of the way through the part-time cosmetology program and having a very positive experience. All of our instructors are extremely encouraging and make the learning process click. They really take time to work individually with their students to make sure we are getting the info we need! It is a inclusive community of ladies and gentlemen with lots of enthusiasm and knowledge about many aspects of the beauty industry. I feel like it is the coolest beauty school on the planet and Im stoked to come to class everyday!

Went to a Paul Mitchell school in Wisconsin, it was fantastic. This one... left the hair dye on for 2.5 hours, dissolving my hair into frizzy white highlights and then said thats how they always come out.From now on Im going to be asking salons if their people were trained here, and wont ever go somewhere with stylists from this school.

As always, my experience today was fun. A fun haircut? It is when staff are friendly, courteous and efficient. I got just what I wanted in a haircut and enjoy being something of s teaching tool for future beauticians,

I have had facials from the Institute and every time has been a wonderful experience. The students take time at the beginning to review your skin and follow up with an instructor who decide the treatment they will proceed with during your treatment. Not only do they provide extractions, a nice head and shoulder massage while they provide the masks, they always provide additional eye and facial treatments for my dry skin. The prices are extremely reasonable and, the rooms are very clean. I would recommend coming to here for a facial all the time.

Great place to get inexpensive services. Does take longer than a regular salon, so plan on being there a while. The students check in with the instructors often. I had my curly hair cut there for $20 and it was one of the best haircuts Ive had in a while. Be vocal and specific about what you want them to do and youll be fabulous.

The 2 young ladies who dyed and flat iron my hair were amazing!! They did a beautiful job on the color and the flat iron. I got alot of complaints on the color.

I usually get my haircut at SFIEC because the students do such a great job and their teachers/supervisors are great. This haircut was done by Tino and he gave me the PERFECT haircut! Exactly the way I like it!

My education has been amazing here and I am only about half way through the program. There are so many opportunities and a great support system for all the students. I am always excited to go to school everyday, which is something I was never able to say before! I know that by the time I graduate I will have all the skills and more to succeed in the industry. I got a facial- my first ever!- from a girl named Paloma. It was so relaxing!. She was very gentle and my skin felt soft and clean after.

People are really​ nice. Great prices. Took forever. 2.5 hrs for simple female haircut and 3 hrs for a male haircut.

The woman who answers the front desk comes off as a little rude, not particularly happy to answer questions from first time customers. Haircut was with more expensive phase 2 student that costs 20 dollars which was not disclosed to me when i scheduled. I did not want to make a big deal about it but did not appreciate being told last minute. Probably something you should tell first time customers before they schedule being that its a beauty school and most of your customers come here for the discount? Haircut was average for a beauty school. Got weird vibe from instructor and check in lady.

My student esthetician, Asya, listened to my concerns and carefully structured a skin care regimen that was just for my skin care concerns. There is no way I would have known they were a student....Professional, confident and spot on with my facial!! I am currently a future professional enrolling in the full-time day Esthetics program. I am loving everything about it!! Each day is scheduled to maximize the students learning experience with an interesting theory class and fun-filled practical class. Recently I went in for an appointment for a haircut and colored dye, when they dyed my hair they missed a big spot on the top of my head and I couldn’t get the haircut that I wanted. Hey there everyone reading this!I would definitely rate my experience at SFIEC as excellent. The people there are more than helpful and so caring you relate to them immediately. I went and had my makeup done by Marissa Lacer and it was amazing! The makeup wasnt heavy, but just enough coverage and light on the skin. The prices are affordable and the service is just what you would get at any salon. I would definitely come back for either hair or makeup and its a great school too.Check it out, you wont regret it!

Becoming a student at SFIEC was the best decision I have ever made. I have so may opportunities available to me that will help me succeed in my career. It is the best decision I have ever made!

I asked for a senior stylist and they both were very new to coloring. One with only one other coloring experience. They were professional at first and I had a lot of confidence in what they were doing. Very pleaeant and attentive. I asked for a very natural blended balayage lighting my already blond hair slightly. After three hours they washed it out and my hair was yellow. They convinced me the color was great and it looked fine at first. But as they dried it you could see my hair was totally bleached, patchy, and not blended. I’m so disappointed. As they were blow drying it everyone was rushing me out the door. They didn’t even finish drying it. I got home and burst into tears. Tomorrow I will be going to a high end salon to have it fixed. Lesson learned.

Im a more positive person with the belief that I can make things happen when I set my mind to it. I had a wonderful experience, A.J C did a terrific job on my hair. He was kind and always checked in to see how my hair was looking as he cut. A.J was very meticulous and took his time! I am super low maintenance about my hair. Reality check: hair grows out! That is why I particularly thought SFIEC would be a good choice.Tip: Thursday nights seem to be a relatively free day. I made an appointment the day before and had no problems getting an appointment for my preferred time.My gripe with the place is this. It takes forever to get your hair done! I didnt mind the dropped scissors, hair over my face, etc - but I do value my time as a law student! It took them 1.5 hours to just blow dry my hair. Frankly by the end of the 3 hours session, I was more concerned about the heat damage.My haircut is just a haircut. However, it is funny that all my friends that emerge from SFIEC have received the same style (layers, rounded, something). I guess this is the standard for Asian girls with long straight hair. Boy, do I feel like a type.

Emily is working on her creative color techniques and I dont mind being her guinea pig. Lindsey was great for facials but she graduated, now I have Zulia and she was awesome especially with the hard wax--adios mustache!

Ive been going to SFIEC for 2 months now and Im extremely satisfied with the whole experience. From the moment I booked all the way through my haircut and re booking its been great. You cant beat the price of $15 for a cut and wash, plus the products they use (Paul Mitchell) are top rate. My stylist, Daniel Medina is amazing! I went in with the intention of growing my hair out over the course of months, with an undercut style. I was nervous about doing it since Ive been going with cleaner looking, short cuts nearly all my life. Daniel was very knowledgeable and has gotten better with every cut (3 so far). I would highly recommend SFIEC!!!

I graduated from SFIEC in January 14 from the day time Esthetics program. I love this school. The culture is very supportive, fun and passionate about the beauty industry but make no mistake - they are serious about education. The quality of the instructors is incredibly high and you will be 100% prepared to pass the CA state board exam and walk into your new career. Ive heard horror stories from graduates of other schools and I can say that you will not be disappointed with the quality of the education you receive. On top of it all, the facility is spotless which was a huge selling point for me. When I was there, a state board employee came by for a surprise visit and they had ZERO violations. Tour the others and Im sure youll end up enrolling at SFIEC.

The place has the worst service and receptionist. Made an appointment and had to wait for more an hour and still got no service. People with reservations after me got in before. The receptionist just ignores and says its will take 2 more minutes for over 45 minutes. Never actually checking with

I have been going to SFIEC for 2.5 years and have had only fantastic experiences. I go every 2-3 months for a cut and highlights. When I schedule my appointment, I request a more advanced student and each student has done a great job. My natural hair color is a drab blonde. They do bright highlights that look very natural. There is always an instructor who frequently checks in with the student during my service and makes tweaks when necessary. I highly recommend SFIEC and would not even consider going anywhere else in the city. Its the best kept secret/bargain in town.

I am currently a student at SFIEC. I transferred from a different Cosmo school in the Bay Area. I was only able to transfer 250 hours but it was worth it. I am really happy with the decision I made by leaving my previous school to join SFIEC.The atmosphere of the school is very positive and all the learning leaders including Deedee the dean cares. I love coming to school and I have learned so much in such a small amount of time.They also provide teams such as Design Team where we are able to go to events such as fashion shows and photoshoots. Im writing this review from the student perspective.I attended SFIEC in January, 2014 and was a part of the full-time esthetics program. From the first day to the last, there wasnt a day that I didnt look forward to. Every morning we began the day with Pow-Wow with all the Learning Leaders (what we call teachers) and the rest of the school just to debrief the previous day and get up to date on the latest happenings, and also to get us energized for the day ahead. It instantly put me in a good mood every morning.The learning leaders are attentive, knowledgeable, and honest about your progress, you can tell that they genuinely want you to excel. Personally, their belief in my abilities helped me believe in them myself, as cheesy as that sounds.Not only do you learn how to be an esthetician or cosmetologist, how to give an amazing facial or cut a great bob, but you learn how to be a phenomenal businesswoman/man, and a lot about yourself. They prepare you for just about everything from your State Board exam (which I passed with flying colors, thanks to SFIEC) to a busy day on the salon floor in the real world, to how to interview and land your dream job--even right out of school.The students are diverse, but given that we all have the same goal, age, race and gender dont matter. Ive made friends whos ages range anywhere from 18 to 50 and Im so thankful to have met each and every one of them through SFIEC.If youre interested in attending a beauty school, SFIEC is the Harvard of them, and many salons and spas all over California, and as far as New York, are aware of that fact. As a graduate, I still feel as close to the staff and my class as I did when I was in school, if not closer. They are truly a part of my family. You wont get a better beauty school experience anywhere else, guaranteed.

Im in the full-time esthetics program here at SFIEC. I have to say that there has not been a day that I have not felt my tuition was 100% worth it. You are not only paying for an education, you are paying for a culture. A couple of them have Bachelors degrees in the Science arena. There are a couple youngins that keep things fresh and lively. Were an extremely diverse group, but we get along like peas in a pod. HI (: I am i student aka future professional that attends SFIEC and i have to say it is my favorite place to be. the school is nothing less than amazing. the best choice ive ever made in my life. in the past i have not been the best at school nor did i enjoy attend classes. i also have a learning disabilities so learning was never an easy thing for me, my teachers were mean and didnt really try to push me to do my best & kinda just gave up on me. That is NOT the case at SFIEC, all of my learner leaders aka teachers always take the time to make sure i understand what they are trying to teach me & always motivate me to try my hardest with my work. The learning leaders also work with you, not against you if you are struggling to understand something & do anything they can to help you. i am now a better student because of them than ever before because of my AMAZING learning leaders! As for the classes well i can honestly say im never bored! we are always practicing hands on which is not only fun but the best way to learn! i have been attending SFIEC for a couple months now and i have to say i am the happiest i have ever been! i am blessed to attend a school with so many other passionate, talented students. I have gotten services from my fellow class mates & i have never been nervous or unhappy with their work! They are still very professional with me ( as fellow class member) which is very impressive because no matter how goofy they can be out side of school they still maintain to be professional when they step foot on that salon floor. they also make sure that the experience nothing less than amazing & that you leave there feeling like a million bucks! so if you have never gotten a service done at SFIEC i would recommend that you spot by & treat your self to good morning / afternoon! if not for a cut, color or any other hair service but for a facial, waxing or one of our other spa services with our estheticians (: you wont be disappointed (:

This is a review of SFIEC as a student in regards to their education program:Ive been wanting to get into cosmetology for as long as I can remember. Now its been 7 years since I graduated from f high school and Ive finally taken the plunge. I looked around at a few other schools that offered cosmetology programs, but I never had that aha! moment until I set foot in SFIEC. The energy that I received from everyone at the school was nothing but warm, welcoming and playful.Some points before I get side tracked and start gushing about how ridiculously in love with this school I am:* The teachers- or learning leaders as they like to call them- are amazing. Hands down I dont think Ive ever had this thorough of instruction before. And whats even better is that they really cater to everyones learning needs. I definitely am not a slow learner, but I learn better with different analogies, and a lot of visual and tactile references and they are always more than willing to offer it.*The administrative staff: This has probably been the only time that Ive actually really enjoyed interacting with the administrative staff of a school before. Id been to a community college and fashion design school prior to SFIEC and it seemed like EVERYONE there was so unfriendly and unhelpful which in turn made it increasingly confusing to try to figure out what to do or who to talk to for help. At SFIEC all the people that Ive interacted with have been nothing but friendly, helpful and excited when Ive come to them with questions.Colleen (the administrative director) is AMAZING. Shes the one that made me so sure that I was making the right choice. Her confidence and enthusiasm about the school is genuine and contagious.Yuto (the financial aid leader) is a FAFSA wizard, and probably the happiest person Ive ever seen working in a financial department of a school.And Deedee (the dean) is probably one of the most inspirational people Ive met. Her drive and belief in her staff and students is really uplifting.ANYWAYS, hopefully at this point its obvious why Im so head over heels for this school. If youre thinking of going into cosmetology I would definitely DEFINITELY recommend SFIEC :D

Im a student at the school, graduating this week in the Esthetics program and here is what I experienced:* The teachers (aka Learning Leaders) remembered our names and everything about us, even down to the smallest details. They always gave us pointers, suggestions ans shared their industry knowledge. Definitely got lots of support throughout the program.* A great family atmosphere, everyone supported each other. If there was any negativity, it doesnt last long. SFIEC has a happy positive vibe, always putting me in a good mood!* Lots of notable guest speakers, honors programs, clubs and activities - theres something for everyone.* Days were thoughtfully planned out, they made sure to mix things up for better retention of all that was learned.* All the kits & tools that we received included quality products. There hasnt been anything that I havent liked or used. Very impressed!* Facility is clean, organized and safe. The neighborhood is pretty decent too, I never once had trouble walking from school to Caltrain.* Clients that came to SFIEC for services were friendly and patient.* Great school recognition - SFIECs online presence and community outreach gets them noticed. So far every salon/spa I talk to knows who SFIEC is - they have a great reputation!and now for the million dollar questions....Do I feel like I received adequate training in Esthetics?YES!Do I feel like I got my moneys worth?ABSOLUTELY!Would I recommend this school to friends & family?YESSSSSSS!!!

Enrolling in SFIEC was the best decision I ever made! I think I fell in love with this school before I even toured! =D One of my best friends graduated from the cosmetology program and She invited me to the hair show, Debut, It was a fun show and I was so impressed that the concepts, hair, and makeup in the show were created by students! When I decided to pursue a career in esthetics I scheduled a tour and By the middle of my tour I already knew I wanted to learn about Skin and Beauty @ SFIEC! The facilities were clean, I loved the energy and vibe of the school, everyone was so welcoming. When the admissions leader, Colleen, told me about Deedee, the owner/Dean of the school, and how she was an esthetician who wanted to create a school focused on Esthetics education, I was sold on wanting to get my education in skin from SFIEC! For almost a couple years Up until orientation day, Colleen and Yuto, were so supportive, patient, and encouraging in helping with financial aid and getting enrolled. Colleen offered to let me sit in on classes, invited me to awesome workshops, and events, something other beauty schools did not do. Now Im in my 10th week of the Estie program and I couldnt be happier with the decision I made. This is my second week on the Clinic floor and I feel prepared and confident to work on real guests. My Learning leaders Tara and Beth, are so knowledgeable in skin health and treating the skin in various ways. They make learning something totally new fun and not intimidating at all. I love this place and what Im learning here, the Future Professionals, my class, and the faculty are all so awesome, professional, talented, fun, and caring people! Im glad I decided to join this family!

Affordable cuts and great service.

Ive paid a lot more for haircuts that I didnt like nearly as much as the ones Ive gotten at S.F. Inst. of Esthetics & Cosmetology!
