CABAM is not what you think. I must be straight forward with the establishment, but unfortunately the place has became a legitimate dump because it seems that the owner is not maintaining the said site. All the bottles of liquor are covered in dust, glassware is not properly washed and sanitized. I have also noticed that the owner of the establishment keeps a dog inside the premises which made me a bit skeptic because of potential hazard bacteria that the said dog could carry considering that there are numerous bottles of liquor waiting to be poured into glasses which could cause cross contamination if the dog could potentially have any unknown bacteria. Shaun is very friendly and has extensive knowledge about craft cocktails but unfortunately he can’t keep the establishment tidy and well organized which lead to me saying that what is in the pictures you see in google are not up to date.

The classes are super fun and a really good value for the price. Before I even finished the school I had a job at a new craft bar, and they liked me enough that I got a job at a second one within a couple of weeks. So I think thats a pretty good testimony to the quality of the school. I think its a great school even if you just want to learn to make good cocktails with your friends. I actually wish I had a friend do it at the same time with me because its pretty cool. The classes have lectures on drinks, spirits and history, job stuff, customer service, some sensual experiences like tasting citrus juices of different freshness and seeing how garnishes impact a drink. Most of the time youre actually practices making drinks using their high tech system with sensors on the bottles and fake customers making orders.

10 stars rating if its possible, because enrolling to CABAM was an AMAZING experience and one of the best choices I ever made.Lifelong membership so everytime you feel rusty, you can come back for practice. Plus a free load of index cards. Well worth the investment.Beautifully decorated interior to make it look like a real bar.Up to date recipes for different types of bar practices, venues, and environments.Cool technology that teaches you real life like experience = drilling pad and sensored bottles to help track pours + progress.Functional wells, soda guns, bar tools, bar glasses, and plastic garnish.History lessons and fun facts on spirits while taste testing different liquors.Practical lessons like ABC laws and violations, ID Checks, resume building, beer and wine knowledge, and how to deal with difficult situations at the bar.Tim was my main instructer and he made class very engaging and fun. Has an enthusiastic voice for teaching and passionate demeanor.Shawn is just as awesome, helpful, welcoming and knowledgable as Tim.They give every student moral support and the confidence to improve. No wonder you randomly see old students stop by and show them some love. Very well respected and connected guys in the SF bar scene. They offer event workshops outside of class in actual bars for us to help them with and gain further hands-on experience. They have even stated, their objective for you is always learn a lesson out of these workshops. They truly care for their students and want them to succeed.Give them a chance, I promise you it will be an experience of a lifetime.

I was mesmerized at the level of detail that Shawn has put into the making of CABAM. I was one of his Mixology students a couple of years back and I kept receiving the newsletters with updates. As a student of the mixology courses, I liked Shawns teaching style as he is well-rounded in the industry, he knew many details about the history of cocktails as well as how to prepare them using real ingredients, not the mixes college students easily find at BevMo.I signed up for the full bartending course at CABAM and I must comment on the facility, staff, and materials. The facility is brand new with state of the art bar setting as well as the integration of high tech to keep up with the surrounding tech industry of SF. The staff is prompt to reply to emails, friendly, approachable, and caring about your bartending learning and experience. They constantly ask you if you have any questions and are quick to provide help, even when I struggled with the right ratios of my drinks. The material is a lot of learn, but as with every great skill, practice makes better. If you are truly serious about becoming a bartender, CABAM is the place where you want to learn and practice. Just make sure to keep practicing; speed and style will come to you.
