We’ve been members of this dojo for several years and highly recommend it! Sensei Collins is an excellent instructor and an even better mentor to all of his young students. Having grown up around martial arts myself, I am continually impressed and thankful that my kids are part of this program.

My son came here when he was just about 4 years old and we only left because we moved to Europe. His experience here was wonderful. The training is focused and compared to other studios we have been to, more disciplined. JT and Zoran were both wonderful and I miss seeing them every week.

USSD on Lombard is the highest quality instruction I could ask for. The instruction in the classes is amazing and highly advise the self defense class for everyone. Any time spent with JT is informative, motivational, and highly instructive!!

I have studied at this dojo for over 10 years starting when I was a kid. It is a great environment for people of all ages, and would highly recommend it to anyone. Sensei Collins is an amazing instructor and really caters to each individual students specific needs.

Both my son and daughter have studied for over five years at USSDSF going multiple times a week. They have been lucky enough to join the traveling team - sparing, grappling and competing with kids all over Northern California. It has been a tremendous learning experience for both of them, teaching them responsibility, respect, self-defense and putting them in positions where they truly need to be brave. The USSDSF dojo has become a second home to both of them filled with friends and mentors of all ages. I highly recommend this experience for SF kids (and adults!).

Top notch instruction, their private lesson program with group classes is so much better than the group only program offered at most school.

Sensei collins is a tremendous teacher - doing an equally amazing job with kids who are barely beyond being toddlers all the way through full grown teens. A great place for kids and families and teens to all have a chance to learn and grow.

JT and the instruction at USSDSF was an important factor in the mental and physical development of our son and daughter. My daughter participated from age 6 until she left for college, attaining a black belt. It was a very important part of her life. I highly recommend USSDSF..

What a wonderful place. I had two sons in the program. One of my two sons excelled incredibly to the point where he demonstrated for the dojo but my other was young and then had difficulty concentrating. To USSDs credit, they encouraged my younger son who never felt left out and always made it fun yet instructive. My friends felt their son might be bullied as he was a meek kid so they put him in classes to follow my son. When their son quit some 14 years later, he was a karate expert and I pity anyone who would try to bully that kid who grew up to become very confident. I only took my kids out of the program because we moved away and we never found another dojo that even came close to how great this one was.

We love JT. He has been a great role model for my kids and guided two to black belts!

Great Dojo. Sensei Collins is the best teacher one could hope for. Always calm, patient, focused, knowledgeable and understanding. He makes sure every second in the dojo counts. For me it has been a lifestyle change since I joined almost two years ago.Looking strong and being strong are two different things. That’s what you learn at the dojo.With bad people on the streets, I highly recommend to join USSD SF and learn the intricacies of Self defense and karate in its purest form.

USSD on Lombard is led by JT Collins. Hes a calm, patient, and thorough teacher who creates a culture of learning, collaboration and goal setting. Students span from grammar school to adults. Very positive place to learn kempo karate.
