Ive been taking lessons at The French Class since 2010 moving from level 3 (elementary) to level 7 (advanced). I started with in-person classes and moved to private tutoring on-line when I left the Bay Area a few years ago. With the pandemic Im now taking group classes online to spend more time with people - even if virtually :) I enjoy the energy and enthusiasm of the other students! Each format has been a very positive and rewarding experience and I highly recommend all of them. I respect and admire Dominique, the schools director who is highly professional as well as warm and encouraging. All of my teachers have been native French speakers and very good at understanding working students, but also maintaining high expectations in class. It is a wonderful school where you can progress as far as youd like in your French language skills while spending time with other Francophiles.

The French Class offers a quick, fun method to learning French. All of the teachers are native speakers from France and the method is well organized to incorporate repetition with new vocabulary and grammar which allows you to speak quite quickly. I have tried a couple other methods, but I find this one to be the best in the bay. It is a friendly, non-intimidating setting. I highly recommend them!

I only decided to write a review after reading the very poor one from above. Every member of this school has always (years) been respectful of my time as an adult student and my desire to learn french. I was not there during the incident that the above student describes but can imagine another scenario because it happened to me. A friend decided to take a course with me. We thought we could probably just get a photocopy of the chapter being reviewed and were informed directly and politely that the school never broke copyright laws. Honestly, that is honorable and professional. My friend and I were initially embarrassed but then joked about the low-life places where we must have become used to learning. My friend was more embarrassed than I because he has written a textbook and the idea of it being bootlegged hit home. This is on the website but I want to point out that M. Bremond does intensive french workshops a lot. Once the SIP began she realized that many of us were going to have our incomes cut. She offers these weekly intensives on a sliding scale! Who but a caring yoga teacher does that? So, for me this school has been invaluable. I love how dedicated M. Bremond and her team are to my learning french. I also want to recognized that switching to zoom teaching, I am told, is not simply doing the same thing in class but on camera. After the first 2 classes, these guys make it look seamless.Thank you for reading this review.

The French class offers all levels of French. Classes are generally small max 8 people, often less. Classes are 8 week sessions and multiple sessions are offered so you can easily make up a missed class. Teachers are native speakers, good and very patient with you. The location is convenient to take public transportation, close to Union Square.

The director of his program is an incredibly hostile person, after four weeks , in the class, I could not get the course matters from her, and her responses were insulting. The rules for the zoom class were not established on the first session, , and only after I violated a rule, was I sent an metal of reprimand for violation and an unstated rule , I was never able to find out how to get the course materials, Only after asking teachers questions, were I notified that I should not be asking teachers questions on how to get the course materials, was I notified that I. should not be asking teachers about how to get course matereials . ultimately I just asked for a refund on the classes that I would not be taking. it really was a very frustrating experience and needlessly stressful
