I thought I had written a review for Bruce months ago, but I dont see it here. Itd be a shame to not add another five star review to his collection. Though, there isnt much I can add that all the other people who have worked with Bruce havent yet.One session with Bruce and I went from feeling like just some guy with a camera to feeling like Im capable of some for real photography. Hes just a good soul to be around and if you asked me how to get better, Id tell you to go see Bruce. Just be comfortable being awkward.

Extremely knowledgeable and gave great instructions and tips during our photography workshop!Took my second workshop this past weekend with Bruce Getty and it was fabulous! Bruces knowledge is very impressive. Any questions asked, you get a clear informative answer. Bruce also pushes you to try different things that you may not do otherwise, like climbing down on steep rocks to get better shots from different angles. Thank You Bruce!

EDIT: Took a 2nd workshop with Bruce. He let me borrow his tilt shift lens and showed me how to use it. Never worked with that kit before and now I understand why and how you would use it. For me personally he showed me settings on my camera that I never used and it was a game changer. He also showed me a different and really helpful technique how to photograph landscapes. Bruce and Kirit were very amicable and professional on a recent private photography excursion I booked for my family. They were prompt and knew all of the best locations in San Francisco to achieve the desired pictures I wanted. I had two great half days venturing around the Bay Area with Bruce, covering sunrise long exposure photography. Youll get to see some great unexpected spots, (especially if youre willing to be brave and do some pre-sunrise hiking) and be given plenty of tips and techniques. I was lucky enough to have a play with the new Lee Filters ProGlass and enjoyed chasing the Fog. If youre looking to learn about Long Exposure and would like to be taught by someone with a bit of character, Bruce is your guy.

Spent a sunrise and a morning with Bruce. The goal was to hit as many iconic SF locations we could in 4 hrs. Bruce navigated the city like the pro that he is, and helped with the fine-tuning for the exact locations and compositions. As a result, with his expertise, I was able to get many excellent photos, some which will hopefully make it to print for my office wall. Bruce is a true professional and a great guy. This made the tour truly enjoyable. Bruce comes highly recommended!

Bruce was very detailed and patient to show us the steps of shooting with water during blue hours. He was able to figure out one of the critical features from my Sony camera a7r III in order to have the object stay on focus and make sure it’s sharp before we shoot with our wireless clicker. By default I had my auto focus on and couldn’t remember how to shut that off.He walked through some editing modes to achieve the best quality and beauty which made our trip quite worthwhile.I would definitely encourage everyone to take his classes! Bruce was amazing as a Yosemite guide and photography expert. He took us to a bunch of spots and guided us through taking great photos. He has a keen eye for details - things we totally missed. He was also such a joy to be around. Highly recommend his workshops. If possible, do his workshop at Yosemite or around the bay area and spend more time with him - you wont regret it.Money and time well spent.P.S: Bruce yelling his signature oh boy at the Yosemite tunnel is a memory for the ages.

If you want an insiders view into the best places to take photos in San Francisco, Bruce is your man. For beginners Im sure hed be very patient, for a semi-intermediate photo enthusiast like me, he gave great pointers, told me the best vantage points, drove around searching out good spots despite the weather, held the umbrella over my head the whole time on the foggy and rainy day I spent with him and was very generous with his time and expertise. He readily offered to lend me equipment if I wanted, pulled over on the side of the road for interesting ambiance shots and was an overall great guide. Im glad I got to know Bruce, Ill definitely look him up the next time Im in town!

Went to Yosemite with Bruce and some friends, had an amazing time. He took us there in his van, made sure the entire trip was incredibly comfortable. We made a large number of stops at any place that was worth photographing and got some amazing shots with his guidance. He also took us to some less frequented vantage points in Yosemite to really get a view that we wouldnt have been able to elsewhere. Learnt a lot in that weekend and he even let us play around with some of his gear to get a feel for some high quality equipment and take shots that would have otherwise been much tougher to get. Cant recommend a photo tour with Bruce enough!

My girlfriend booked a one on one session for Bruce and I as a birthday gift, and wow! What an amazing experience! Bruce is extremely knowledgeable and very familiar with the San Francisco area. He will definitely take you to some amazing hidden spots to capture the Golden Gate Bridge, that will separate your photos from the tourists and everyone else! Youll learn a lot about framing, composition and whatever question you have about your camera gear. Would highly recommend a one on one with the Almighty Bruce!

I had the chance to book a private custom sunrise workshop of 3 hours with Bruce in San Francisco. Bruce’s photos impress me and therefore he was my first choice.Bruce picked me up and he brought me to jaw dropping beautiful places. He lend me his tripod and gave great tips about composition, lighting and camera settings.It was a relaxed time, and we had our fun while waiting for the right light or the boats passing by. Bruce was fantastic, the location was better then you would ever get if you were just passing through and I got some amazing tips on composition also tripod and camera set up. I was also able to learn and try various ND filters from Lee Filters. I wouldn’t consider myself an amateur photographer but I still learnt heaps, well worth the money. Also included pick up and drop off so there was nothing I had to worry about after booking.

My significant other got me a 1on1 private workshop with Bruce after we had been following his photography on Instagram for some time. My session with Bruce did not disappoint. We found the perfect place to capture the City and sunset from various angles while he taught me new techniques within my own camera as well as educated me on the right type of filters to use in specific settings. We were able to capture some great snaps and he later showed me some in depth Photoshop and Lightroom techniques. Bruce took his time and answered all my questions along the way. I appreciated his teaching style and how much his passion for photography comes through. I discovered Bruce Getty and his wonderful photography on Instagram. I was so impressed with the quality of his photos! When I saw that he offered private workshops I jumped at the chance to meet him and learn from him.He picked me up from my hotel in his comfortable Mercedes Sprinter van and we spent the better part of a day shooting photos in San Francisco and in Marin County. I learned some of his tricks and techniques. Then we went to his home and he showed me how he processes his photos and gets them ready for publication.I definitely feel like I got my moneys worth. Im hoping to take additional workshops from Bruce later this year.UPDATE, FEBRUARY 2019: I just finished my second photo tour with Bruce - two days in the snowy Eastern Sierra. I’ve been following Bruce’s Instagram account for some time and really enjoyed his photos and the locations he was using in the Bay Area. A friend recommended him, so I hired him to do a one-on-one session to help me with sunset photography. The session was awesome! Bruce is extremely knowledgeable about the area, he took us to a fantastic location for our sunset photos, and he answered a ton of questions I had about taking photos (framing the shot, settings, gear... etc.). Very valuable. I learned more about the foundamentals of photography and how to use my own camera in three hours than I did in three months on my own. Bruce Getty is a master photographer and if you want to learn landscape photography, you cant find a better person in Bay Area. He knows all the great locations and he teaches not only the techniques but also how to compose the pictures. Bruce has definitely improved my photography in such a short time. I can see significant improvements in my pictures before and after shooting with him.Bruce also teaches photo editing using Lightroom after the workshop and his workflows are very effective. One to access a secret location and learn how to use my camera in manual mode, and another to practice Lightroom editing and set up my computer’s file storage & processing workflow to work as smooth as gravy.
