We LOVED BICC so much. This was our first daycare experience for my son, who started with Erica and Mark at age 2 and continued through age 3.5 before heading to preschool. When we were touring daycares I had my printed checklist of safety questions to ask and when we met Erica and Mark I actually cried because they were so warm and loving. I realized that while I did care about emergency evacuation procedures, I mostly wanted my little guy to be in a place where people cared about him. They are parents themselves, both really patient and easy going people, and my son made such a special bond with each of them.It was such a great experience for him. He learned to nap in a group setting, try new foods, get along with kids of all ages, he learned his letters, and really grew into himself there. My son is pretty introverted and when he first started he really didnt want to do any of the group activities. I talked to Erica about it and told her that as long as he wasnt disrupting her activities/the other kids that I thought it was ok if he played quietly by himself during group time. She totally got it, never pushed him, and at the end of 1.5 years there he was the kid in the thick of the group hug pile or conducting the chair train. He was always really excited when it was a Miss Ericas day (he went 3d/week and then 5d/week when my daughter was born) and he made such good friends in their Ohana.Other highlights:Space: BICC is in an in-home daycare - there is a good sized playroom, a separate room for napping, a huge kitchen/dining room, and a really great outdoor space. I loved that the kids spent so much time outside. There are bikes/tricycles/scooters, mini basketball, surfboards, a little house, and Mr. Mark even built a small climbing wall for the kids recently. I dont know how they do it with six kids there all day but their house is always completely spotless. Theres also so much natural light.Food: Erica and Mark provide healthy/mostly organic lunch AND two snacks each day (such a time saver vs having to pack lunch each day now + he learned to love broccoli once his friends started eating it and poi and different foods that we dont eat at home).Activities: The kids had dance parties, dress up, story time, and when it poured rain for weeks or the kids were stuck inside during the fires Erica and Mark made obstacle courses in the playroom and ran races down the hallway. They took them to the park often on good weather days. They also had plenty of down time for independent / non-structured play. They also use this great app and you get to see tons of pictures of their day (why every daycare/preschool doesnt use BrightWheel is beyond me). They put in what he ate, when he slept, if there was anything specific we needed to know, and then highlights of the week at the end. They also are very communicative via phone/text if needed.Would totally totally recommend and cant wait to send my daughter when shes older!
