This was the absolute best experience for our 2-3 year old. If we hadn’t moved, we would never have left. Miss Wendy and Miss Xing are the kindest and warmest teachers who made my daughter feel loved every day. We had a new baby while our daughter was attending Shining Star and extra special attention was given to her every day so she didn’t feel overshadowed by the new baby or left out. My husband and I do not speak much Chinese and we were amazed at how much our daughter learned in such a short time. Shining Star is the number one thing we miss most about San Francisco and I would recommend to absolutely everyone who is looking for a preschool in the Bag Area.

Shining Star has been a great experience for my three year old son. This was his first preschool experience and I was anxious about his transition to preschool but it could not have gone better thanks to the director Ms. Wendys care welcoming him in. He came home the first days saying school was fun (and still does)! He even talks about his teachers Ms. Wendy and Ms. Sing on the weekends. Within a month, he demonstrated a lot of learning that happened at school. It is always hard to get a lot of details from a three year old about their day but in the evenings and on the weekends I would hear him singing songs and talking about things we had never taught him (ex. talking about spheres/pyramids/cube shapes he sees around him, singing the months of the year, etc). It is fun to hear him come home with new Chinese words and he even points out and says Chinese characters on a sheet he brings home from the week. This truly amazes me as my husband and I only speak English. Throughout the course of the pandemic we felt safe bringing our son there. They have the kids wear masks as well, which I have to admit I was skeptical about at first, but the kids all do great with it. It adds an extra level of safety and peace of mind for me. Also, my son has no issue wearing masks now when we need to go out. Also, a bonus is that they have air conditioning so the kids have a comfortable place in the fall heat waves and the indoor air stays clean during the unfortunate fire seasons. This school is less than a year old but already very well run. I would highly recommend!

My daughter has been attending Shining Star when the school opened in November. It was her first transition from a nanny to school and while not easy, I believe the transition (~2 weeks) went well mainly because of Wendys connection & attention to my daughter during a difficult time. Since then she has progressed a lot & comes home singing new songs, count numbers and knows the alphabet. She likes the other children and talks about Wendy and them all the time at home. The space is large so the kids have a lot of room to play & run around. My daughter never fights going to school and is excited to see Wendy and the other kids everyday when we go. I highly recommend Shining Star for kids in the area looking for a Montessori school in the area. We are glad we made the decision to send my daughter there and looking forward to see how she continues to grow there.

I am thrilled that Ms. Wendy is opening her own Montessori School! Having worked with Wendy as a Director, I can tell you she has a natural ability to make all children and families feel welcome. She understands that each child is an individual should be treated as such. She has high expectations for children and always encourages independence, exploration, and fun. One of my favorite things to do was to observe her classroom in action. She practices and understands the Montessori method and she is beloved by tons of families for her attention to detail, her kindness and her wonderful spirit. If you are a family who seeks an outstanding early childhood education for your child, come and visit Shining Star Bilingual Montessori and see for yourself!

Wendy is a great teacher and I was with her for five years as a teaching assistant at Montessori House of Children. The kids really liked and enjoyed her kind ways. There were a lot of different activities in the classroom and a lot of different toys and learning materials. Definitely the result of Wendy’s work was a lot of happy parents and happy children. The children became very smart for their age because of Wendy.

Wendy was our oldest daughters very first teacher, so in a way she was our first teacher. Our daughter was 2-1/2 when she first started preschool, and we couldnt have asked for a better match than Wendy. The first 3 weeks involved a lot of crying, but as soon as mommy or daddy left, she felt super comfortable with Wendy, and would not even leave her side for lunch and would follow her into the teachers lunch room! But Wendy was patient and kind and made our daughter feel like she was in a second home. To this day whenever we ask our daughter who her who her favorite teacher is, she always says Miss Wendy!

The owner of this Shining Star Bilingual Montessori school is very experienced and dedicated to teaching children using the Montessori method of education. She cares about children and gives personal attention to ensure the kids are learning in a safe and supportive environment. As an additional bonus, the children can also learn Mandarin lessons, which is useful in the San Francisco Bay Area. Two thumbs up!

Ms. Wendy is a great teacher and she put her students’ interest and safety as her top priority. My son attended Montessori preschool when he was 2 year old, we had Ms. Wendy as his Head teacher for one and half years. She’s caring and paying close attention to her students. My son liked her a lot. He learned phonics, alphabet sounds, tracing, drawing shapes, numbers recognition, physical counting, and many different Montessori techniques from Ms. Wendy. When I drop off my son every day, I have full confidence that Ms. Wendy will take good care of him (of course so does all students). She gives me a brief status report of how things went in class daily and She let me know if my son finished his lunch and how his nap time. I really have the peace of mind that my son is in good hands. I noticed that my son grew up and learned how to take care of his own like washing hands, eating his lunch, packing toys. I believe Ms. Wendy trained him very well. She is caring and ensuring kids put jacket on when it is cold outside and supervising the kids to play safe. Ms. Wendy is awesome!
