Good professors that are passionate about teaching and knowledgeable. The negatives are academic advising and student services are rude and unhelpful. If you wanna be successful at this college educate yourself ahead of time on degree requirements and advise yourself. I am proactive so I can overlook it, but the smart remarks from staff get old overtime.

This is my second semester going back to college after having my 3 children and being 10 yrs out of school! They have made it as efficient as can be! Professors, financial aid, as well as advising have been more than helpful, and im looking forward to following their education pathway towards a direct connect to UCF! 😊

Free WiFi for the students. Just dont expect to actually use it because its too slow. Even on uncrowded days.

Was recently having a stressful situation with my textbooks. Put a call in to the bookstore and Marielle saved the day. She not only fixed the situation, but made a very stressful situation incredibly easy and painless. It is very much appreciated!!! Great experience!

Today was graduation day and I can’t say enough how proud I am to be a graduate of Seminole State College and even more so proud of how they handled their response to the pandemic as well as providing graduates this year, amnesty opportunity to walk in a ceremony.I was scheduled for the 12/15/20 - 9 AM segment and I couldn’t be more impressed with the set up, the seamlessness and the genuine support from the faculty staff present.To everyone that had a hand in the organization and execution of today’s ceremonies -a huge “thank you” ..it has been an arduous journey these past 2 1/2 years and even more so this year with the break out of this pandemic so...thank you thank you thank you!!

Nice and quite place for studying, friendly environment.

This is the worst schooling experience ever! Advisors and financial aid offices suck at responding. I was being disrespected by students and I reached out to this school and nobody did anything. Then, as I went to enroll for classes in Fall 2020, they dropped me out of all my courses and gave no explanation. Now I feel like this school has something against me and I feel discriminated against. They never want to help me. There are other schools with way more students and they get to their students in a timely manner and are happy to help them. I do not recommend anyone attending Seminole State College.

I don’t do reviews. I seemed to have been blocked from reaching their adult high school programs. They’ve helped other students I’m sure but haven’t been anything but headaches and a waste of time for me. Calls after calls, emails after emails, no response. Got kicked out of my previous home because graduation was my requirement and I thought I could trust them. Called Seminole school systems just to be referred to them, I’ve been wanting to enlist and the only thing missing is a high school diploma or GED. If any other academic institution could help or if anyone knows of any ways to help me please comment. Thank you

Mr Collins and Morgan from College admissions and enrollment services department both were rude and snarky. After dedicating so much time, effort and money to this school they couldnt help me. Morgan could clearly hear me on the phone and didn’t make an effort to help me out. Mr Collins was of no help as well.As staff they should be able to help any student that needs the help in each of the departments they are assigned to.In this business you should give respect to receive respect and they did not respect me or my needs.I am very disappointed and dissatisfied by the lack of help this department provided for me.

Seminole state College has been nothing more than amazingly helpful with my case. As an international student, figuring out the papers that i need to get was the hardest point to get through with other colleges and unis, but not with seminole state. I wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

First college Ive taken classes in and I love it. Staff is nice, atmosphere is cool, Great Blue Heron birds and squirrels are everywhere, its a very beautiful place. All the professors Ive had were very understanding, and would give you extra time if youre having homework trouble.P.S. now that they made it a tobacco free college, I love it even more. This is by far the worst experience Ive ever had dealing with the VA. Very irresponsible when it comes to handling paperwork. I have to resubmit the same thing over at least three times because it is either lost, I never submitted it, or it got lost again. Anyway, terrible staff and obvious carelessness.

I have toured several state colleges and this one is by far one of the most appealing the buildings themselves continue to be up to date and are updated regularly. The student life portion really focuses on quality education leadership as well as making everyone aware on how they can improve their lives and their careers. Mauricio Garcia is extremely knowledgeable in areas such as Myers Briggs which I believe is a fundamental skill and tool needed to be taught to all college students. The entire staff of student life is absolutely wonderful but most of all the person that I can say is how the best is coordinator Marissa Millman. She is help motivate me to continue to achieve the best my education. I would definitely recommend this State College over Valencia as well as many other state colleges in the state, and absolutely to check out student life.

As a non-traditional student, I have had a great experience at Seminole State. From excellent professors who taught, encouraged and inspired me, to staff members who assisted me with admissions and financial aid, I have had an extremely positive experience.There is definitely something here for everyone! I received my AA in 2011 and continued on to get a BS in Business and Information Management in December 2013. There is even a career development center that will go out of their way to help you get a job along with your degree. I also made use of the free tutoring services. If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely Go State!

So far, my only experience with this campus has been visiting with my daughter in order to turn in paperwork to be able to register. We encountered several people on campus who were very friendly but the absolute best staff member was Sammie Edwards in student services. No, we are not related but we DID joke about our names being the same. He was extremely professional and helpful as well as humorous. He made an anxious situation go very smoothly. I hope that his demeanor radiates throughout the entire school. Thank you Sammie!

After quite a few years off from college I decided to return this past semester. I have been super pleased with how helpful and encouraging the staff was in helping me to get enrolled again. I am currently in two classes and have been thoroughly enjoying them and my professors. I was kind of scared coming back to school, but everyone that I have dealt with has been really cool, friendly, and has made it a very joyful experience. I would highly recommend choosing Seminole State. Im glad that I did and Im glad that Im back.

This college is pretty much devoted to traditional students from the many local high schools. If you are coming from another institution or already have a degree, be prepared for no one in the financial aid/registration/enrollment offices to know how to do anything with you. Nontraditional students prepare for a paper fight. Unless you have something in writing (and they know better than to do that in an email), it doesnt exist and theres no assurance that what you were told was true. Also prepare for the run-around from many, many people in different admin departments, all with varying levels of knowledge, but most with the common goal of moving your file to another persons desk. The professors I had were knowledgeable, nice and outgoing, but it is a shame that the administrative side of the college is so dysfunctional.

Ive been coming to Seminole State since 2010 and it started off as a great school. I completed all of my prerequisite courses for nursing until I went to apply for the program after having a baby and taking some time off, they had added an extra course to the required courses. No problem there, but since then I have felt the school has been messing up! the financial office has no idea what they are doing and I believe it is on purpose. I had to pay out of pocket for that last prerequisite because they could not straighten something out with the IRS paper that they needed and the one i was requesting from the IRS. Because of one word that was different in the title, they cannot accept my form which was the only form that the IRS had for me to request! I went today for an academic advising session and forget it! what a complete joke!! Stephanie Reese is completely rude and makes you feel stupid because I heard the girl in the front saying she gets mad because people do not read the website. . . but if the website was less confusing for the nursing program we wouldnt have to go to her for questions. But even if it really is a dumb question thats what she is there for, getting paid to help people, but since she hates her job so much she gives people attitude and makes you feel stupid. What a waste of time!

I went to the bookstore today to get cap and gown. Great service and very nice people. But the smell. The smell was horrible. I think they may need to check the vents or something. I felt like I was suffocating. My throat was extremely dry. I hope nothing rotted in the vents. Im talking about the Sanford campus

Seminole State College is a great way to start off your future. The professors here are incredible and they will work with you every step of the way. The process for me to get started here was very easy and laid back because the staff that were in admissions really helped me through the steps to enroll so I didnt have to worry about it. Seminole State set me in the right direction. Im almost done with my A.S. and I couldnt be any happier that I get to receive my degree from Seminole State.

I loved it. It was so big and they did great hosting state solo/ensemble. If it wasnt for the 3-hour drive I would have to take there, I would definitely go.

Both my daughter and I are attending Seminole State College and enjoy love it here. Im graduating next semester and will be sad to leave. The campus is so convenient to my house and I love my professors. Other than some understandably long wait times right before classes start, Ive never had a problem with any of the staff members. Everyone has always been kind and helpful to me. When my son graduates high school, hell be headed to SSC as well!

I work here. Have been since 2009. Not going anywhere till retirement. That should tell you something. Great place to work. I dont know about how anyone else feels about that, but it is to me.

BEWARE: Before you waste your precious time and money trying to enroll in this ruthless school, please read. I am disgusted with this school. Not only do they give you the run around about your financial aid, they lose your transcripts and treat you like scum. This institution has no appreciation for their students and anytime you call and inquire about anything from the admissions department or financial aid they always tell you the last person you spoke to was misinformed and treat you like youre a fool. Angelica English in admissions and records is a complete disgrace. After the school lost my records I was forwarded to her. She was arrogant,nasty and unprofessional.(Like a lot of the student staff they hire) Angelica English pretty much called me a liar and repeated her script several times while constantly interrupting me. Careless, rude, shameless and classless are four words that describe this school. Im a straight A student and pay good money to attend this abomination and yet they continue to treat me and other students like crap. If I knew what I know now I would have chose another institution to spend my money with. I resent being apart of this college knowing they treat their students the way they do.

With all of the funds this facility has received you would think they would have a better website for their students, I needed to print out my receipt of payment and print out my classes for the upcoming term however per their representative for their campus they have decided to remove the option to print out my class schedule, this is insane! this is a very inefficient use of their technology. Please someone help this make sense!!!

Staff is rude and not helpful

Adult high school/GED students. Watch out. They will lie to you multiple times that their program gives you a high school diploma. This is a lie its a GED accepted as a high school diploma in ONLY CERTAIN places. The military is not one of them and Im sure there are others. Do your own research so you arent tricked by the school into a false hope.

You can never get told the right information you need it always something else or its something told me was wrong multiple times I have had this issue. Then with financial aid people are rude they hung up twice on me and the second time they answered paused and waited til they closed to hang up and never answered me

Horrible horrible advisors! Especially Stephanie Reese. She treats people like they’re stupid and doesn’t give any helpful information. She made me feel like I didn’t know anything and shouldn’t even apply to nursing school because my grades weren’t good enough. What kind of advisor says that??

Great people and they plenty places to study. They also have excellent tutors who are willing too tutor anyone have trouble on any subject.

Love this school. Great professors, great advisors, extremely cheap to attend. Took classes from the Altamonte, Sanford and Oviedo campuses and don’t have any complaints. However, the financial aid process is beyond terrible (which is to be expected). Customer service is way better than Valencia.

I went to community college in New Jersey and transferred here in the beginning of 2017. I am glad I chose Seminole State because the students and faculty are friendly and the campus is beautiful. I disliked attending college before, but coming here has restored my love for formal education!

I received my A.A. Degree from here and now I’m in the process of becoming a medical professional! Tuition at SCC was very cheap, but they provide me with the top quality level education I needed to succeed in this growing medical field 🤓Praise the Lord!That he led me to attend this school!

Don’t let negative reviews deter you from attending Seminole. I graduated from this school then went to UCF through Direct Connect. Everyone’s experience is different. Particularly anything related to Financial aid which can be very complicated. Do know that Seminole doesn’t make the rules, the Federal government does. So blame the Feds for not getting your financial aid money.Also, life is what you make it. If you submit your documents on time and follow up with the right people things will work in your favor. If instead, you don’t do what you are supposed to do and then go around demanding stuff then tough luck.Go to Seminole, get your degree, then get out and make some money and stop complaining.

I love Seminole State and find the negative reviews so surprising. Compared to my previous college, it was much easier to enroll and everyone helped me get through the process as quickly as possible. The professors are wonderful, the campus is beautiful and everyone has been so nice and helpful to me.

Really great school with really crappy responsibility. Sumbitted ALL needed financial aid documents 2x and my information still hasnt been updated. Resulted in me missing a semester and possibly another one as its STILL not updated. I called and the lady i spoke to said the person in charge of my account hasnt updated it and she said she resent it (to the same person), its been 3 weeks and nothing has changed. Really sucks when you like this school to much and they cant even help you.

Im fortunate to be able to prepay for classes and then be able to wait for financial aid money to come in as a reimbursement... many students are not - and the financial aid department at this college is a JOKE. Overall I enjoy the updates to campus and my learning experience has been okay.. The school is obviously spending millions and millions on visual improvements - they need to spend just a little time and possibly money figuring out their disfunction with financial aid. Every student Ive talked with has had financial aid issues here... not just an anecdotal few... EVERY student Ive encountered that uses financial aid. Get it together SSC and perhaps students can stop worrying about whether you will pull your head out of the sand - you should want them learning and bettering themselves.

I have sent my transcripts to two different places - to this campus and also the campus in Altamonte springs. Neither campus has received my past college transcripts. I met with an enrollment specialist from the Altamonte campus and she told me that I should start choosing my classes. However, I am not willing to pick any courses until my financial aid is disbursed. In order for my financial aid to disburse, the college must have my transcripts on file. I cannot afford to pay for college out of pocket, which is why I applied for financial aid in the first place. Please, stop withholding student transcripts, so the students may get their grant disbursed and they can start school. It isnt fair how I spent now 40 dollars plus money to order extra transcripts (5 dollars each) to have my transcripts sent by certified and next day mail, and they claim that they have not received them. I have proof from the tracking numbers that the envelopes were in fact delivered and signed for. Please, if you need help to clear some of the desk pile of paperwork, call me, I can help you clear it. I just need my transcript on file so I can start school. My transcripts are probably sitting there in a pile collecting dust.

Started attending Seminole State about a year ago. The admissions staff helped me understand what I needed to get done and I was able to register on time. The experience here has been great!

Horrific school. Though I have a Bachelors degree from UCF, they were requesting hs transcripts and transcripts from every single institution I went that had nothing to do with what I want to study. They are the most unhelpful staff Ive met. They can care less and were very discouraging. I consider myself very fortunate to not be an alumni of this disastrous college!

I have taken classes at Seminole State College since 2009 and have has a positive experience every step of the way. From the excellent customer service in student services to the expert instruction from the faculty this school will help you achieve the goal you have set for yourself. I would especially like to say that the math department is top notch. I was not a great math student when i started here and now i have successfully passed Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, pre-calculus, and Calculus! The instructors were always so so helpful and there are so many other resources to help you. I am currently a UCF student after successfully getting my AA from Seminole State! Go Raiders!

I agree with most of the 1 star reviews. This is my second degree Im getting and Im a new student to SSC. Its like the school is ran by a bunch of clowns. Absolutely the worst school. I tell people to go anywhere but here.

I decided to try Seminole state because my family and I had moved closer to their campus and farther from Valencia Colleges campus (where I was attending the semester prior). So I applied, enrolled, got awarded aid, given the ability to use my aid for my books and computer, and began attending classes. Per the financial aid office, my financial aid documents were not evaluated and I was not actually eligible. Mind you, this was 6 WEEKS into the 8 week semester. I was preparing for finals for goodness sakes.When I called for the 5th because my financial aid wasnt being reflected on my account like it should after the first four weeks of classes, I am told that I was never actually qualified for financial in the first place. When I was awarded for the year, it was a mistake. My aid was taken and an outstanding balance was posted to my account. Thankfully I was able to complete the semester, but now Im being forced to pay for the semester that was already awarded because they made a mistake. I would never take another class here but even if I wanted to, i couldnt. I cant even enroll and pay out of pocket. They wont allow me to do anything until I cough up the money in its entirety. Which I now see how money hungry this school really is. Dont get me wrong, i understand that holding transcripts and denying enrollment is standard when students acquire balances. Understandable. However, when the school was the one at fault for the balance in the first place, I cant help but feel like I got scammed. When trying to find ways for me to over this hump and be proactive, I come to find out they offer absolutely no payment plans, and they wont even try to help. This was my first and most certainly my last semester at seminole state. I cant even transfer and go back to Valencia (where questions can actually be answered, documents are processed prior to enrollment, student services actually finds solutions, and where you dont feel like youre a nuisance because youre utilizing the services offered). So here I am, my transcripts being held until the balance Is paid, no room in the budget (with a family of 5) to dedicate to a surprise $1.8k bill, and getting turned away from the institution because theres nothing else that they can do. (Again, no payment plans, no answers, no sympathy, remember?). In short, I owe THEM for THEIR mistakes. And this simple mistake (as I was told) has cost me my education. I was so close to my degree and Seminole State robbed me of that. Because of Seminole States lack of knowledge, efficiency, and magnitude of negligence, I will not graduate any time soon. I wont allow them to take credit for my failure. I will be done, but now in years rather thanMonths. Seminole state froze my education and quite frankly, my career. My employer had been patiently waiting for me to graduate so I could move up in the company and that too wont happen. The way this institution is run, is not how its suppose to be. I highly reccomend Valencia College. They actually push you for success... not stop you from it. The Florida Deptartment of Education has been greatly helpful with confirming and recognizing their negligence. I am not the only student that has been wronged by Seminole state. I just hope someone can utilize my experience to be sure theyre not being scammed too. Tread cautiously with this institution.

This school I swear to god I have been fighting tooth and nail with them just to try and get stuff worked out, and yes they do lose your stuff and they do need more Councillors instead of having you wait for several hours just to ask them a simple question about your classes. I love how they dont explain everything to you either which is really irritating cant wait to finally be out of this school next year.

Students parking lot full. 4 rows of empty lot but you cant park their because its for faculty and staff only. If you only want faulty and staff parking, put a stand on each space and not just the selected ones. So silly

This place sucks. If i could give it a 0 star rating I would. Apparently no one know how to release holds on accounts. They need to hire people that can do their jobs. Save your money DO NOT go here.

The College is great but the financial aid and student services office (specifically Altamonte campus) is the absolute worst! The student success specialist i had was literally no help! I drove to the Sanford campus and received more help than i did at Altamonte. I continuously told the specialist that i cannot pay for classes out of pocket and she kept saying “expect to pay out of pocket”. Huh? We’re you even listening? My best advice is to go to the Lake Mary campus for any questions or concerns you have. They’re more knowledgeable than Altamonte Campus.

Overall a very diverse campus with lots of room to breath and comfortably large classrooms, now that constructions nearly done working through older buildings. This place needs a parking guide, though! XD Having a map does not cut it when you dont know what corner of the building your classes will be, or what spots are going to be staff only when you get there.

Absolute worst communication from advisors, have to call, email and essentially harass just to get any information or a call back. My 2 cents, if you have other options, take them...If you have no other option and are forced here then just be prepared to waste countless hours each time you need to get any help from them.

Best community college with four campuses in Central Florida. Offers a lot of great classes and programs at many different times including weekends and online options. Have direct connection to UCF and upwards degree accreditations.

This is my first semester at Seminole State and so far everything has been good. Im enjoying my classes and I never had anything but a positive experience from admissions when trying to register.

DECEITFUL AND NOT VET FRIENDLY.TERRIBLE STUDENT SUPPORT STAFF/ADMIN STAFFThey took my GI Bill benefits but refuse to release my transcripts with the head of the Registrar, Kathy Voudry, claiming that I should have never been admitted as a student anyway. They denied me academic advising, provided almost no counseling on the use of the GI Bill, and Frances Middleton lied about my transcripts being released. This lie resulted in me continuing my education pointlessly and now missing two application periods for nursing school due to lack of transcripts.DO NOT USE YOUR GI BILL HERE!!! Go to one of the many other schools in the Florida School system. SSC STEALS FROM VETERANS AND LIES.

Save yourself the hardship and dont waste your time here financial aid department is a joke. The semester is almost over and I still havent had my aid disbursed I go and ask them why and the just say they dont know. Unless this is your absolute last choice stay away from this crap hole

As much as I do like this school. I havent had any bad experience EXCEPT with counseling and advising. The women is really rude and uncaring. I honestly think I will file a complaint or concern she doesnt help me in any way. I asked for her assistance and she just doesnt care to help me or give me useful information. I think its sad that for a good school like this that their advising center does not have good service AT ALL. I hope that eventually their will be someone else to take her place because she is just really rude.

Admissions take forever and if you call them they never tell you the same thing if you were to go to the campus because their call center is out of state! They need more online courses as well.Overall, crappy communication from their admissions and financial aid office.

If youre in search of a community college to attend in hopes of gaining a valuable trade such as welding, Id suggest you look elsewhere. The instructors arent the problem; the system is. Its set up in a way that complete mouth breathers and trouble makers cannot be held accountable for their actions no matter what. Instead, they are pushed through the program like their peers that actually show up for school every day and apply themselves. If youre a grown man who still lives with mommy and daddy & depends on them to fight your self-inflicted battles for you, this school is the one! However if youre a real man (or woman) who values hard work and consider yourself a motivated go-getter, you can do so much better. On top of being ran by spineless softies who cave at the slightest mention of push back, their funding is seriously mismanaged. At no time should any class run out of materials considering tuition goes towards them. If I could go back in time and select a better school Id have went with one that rhymes with falencia

I love this school, Im going for my bachelors in Information Systems Technology. This school is what you make it. Its not a big University, yet lol.

I never add reviews, ever! But today was the last straw! 1. Financial aid department is a complete joke, they lost my scholarship my first year. 2. Faculty/Staff is not always the best. Its a hit or miss. 3. Security is terrible. I called to inform them of a problem I had and they pretty much blew me off. If you can avoid this school I would do it, its not worth your hard earned money or time.

Horrible Student Admin/Support. Even when you do everything youre supposed to do as a student, (in regards to payment and paying fees, tuition on time), they will delay your Pell Grant payout for as long as they can and force you to pay money out of your own pocket that you dont have to cover your bookstore charges so they can then remove the hold from your account so you will be able to register for next terms classes. Oh, and in that process, when youre trying to figure out why your financial aid didnt cover your charges on time, they will not let you speak to a supervisor and instead they will hang up on you when you insist to speak to one for a deeper explanation. This is what happened to me. Ive never had such a delay or problem at Valencia or HCC in regards to financial aid. But of course these institutions dont care. Thanks for nothing SSC.

Its so crazy to me that my graduation is literally around the corner, I remember when I first started at Seminole State and now to know that Im about to be done its crazy to me. I remember being lost and confused and just scared because it was something different for me and I was going into something that was going to change the rest of my life. Although many people at Seminole state have touched me in the most incredible way but the two counselors that really touched me the most and really made a huge impact in my life would be Raquel Gray and Alvin Mitchell. These two counselors have always motivated and encourage me and just saw a light in me that I didnt see in myself. I remember when I was feeling really down one day and I decided to go see my counselor at the time which was Raquel Gray, I felt like no one was supporting me I felt lost, confused her words were Dont feel like youre by yourself because here at Seminole State we are a family and all we want to do is help you in anyway that we can I encourage you to keep pushing and to never give up. Those words alone have made a huge impact in my life and Im forever grateful for her. Mr. Mitchell showed me a whole new light of education me going on the trip to BBCB and being the first Female to enter (SIMS) club made a huge impact in my life and now I see education in a different light. I can do anything if I put my mind to it and the only person that stops me is myself . All I can say is I am forever grateful to be a student at Seminole State College I learned at lot about myself in becoming a better student and yet a better person. Im ready for my next chapter in my life and most importantly Im ready to be a graduate!! Avoid this school at all cost

Destination graduation is a fake department who claim will assist you. For starters the lady was 20 mins late from her start time, but then aware of recent hurricane and offered a voucher then says because ive used foul language I cant qualify for assistance. Im confused now, financial aid made a mistake by NOT properly putting in all hand delivered information in the system right away is not the fault of the student. There was also an issue with the verification department to review my transcript or I was getting dropped. This school is a waste! This is my first and final semester here! They take thier sweet old time to do thier jobs holding the student accountable. Now they refused to help, ok dully noted! Will be transferring next year!

Here is a more creditable review from someone who actually went there.This was previously a community college and still has the lingering feelings. Most of the instructors are not professors, as they lack a Ph.D or a Masters Degree. However, they wish to be addressed so. All of my professors, during the semester I was there, were extremely unprofessional and rude.Admissions into any specialized program is a joke. The individuals who head up the departments change frequently and are often incompetent. The requirements to enter specialized programs change frequently, and students are not made aware until the moment they apply. By then, the are a course short, and, if willing, will spend another semester satisfying pre-reqs, only to apply the next term and receive the same news as before (they will need to take another course that is suddenly required).Overall, education wise, excellent content, poor delivery system. Text books are over priced. In one case, I spent only $18 for a textbook, and $150 for an online code to do activities that made up a total of 5% of my grade. Professors are either completely unwilling to explain the material, or are unapproachable.The only 100% positive thing I can say is that it is a beautiful campus.

I am so thankful for SSC!!! Seminole State College has not only been for my college education but also my High school. I was able to attend their Adult high school and received my diploma quicker than I would have in a traditional high school or even secondary high schools. Now on the college side I am still blown away by the staff at SSC, from the administration to the professors everyone is there to see you succeed! If you want a sound education to pursue a prosperous future come to SSC!

There financial aid department is literally a joke. This campus and Altamonte Springs campus. They make it almost absolutely impossible for you to enroll in classes, they are forever putting holds on my account for nothing. You honestly get what you pay for when coming to this school, go to Valencia.

Never any issues going to school there and now my son! Rose Mary is very awesome and goes beyond her job duties to reach out to students.

I created an account just for this. This pathetic excuse for a higher learning institution is a life ruiner. The faculty and staff, all they way to the dean level, are incompetent and unhelpful. They are terrible with policies and procedures, paperwork becomes rocket science for them, and if you actually make it through the registration and enrollment process, there are only more hurdles through degree placement, financial aid, tuition, instructor abuse, etc. If you can imagine a school being constructed with the sole purpose of taking advantage of students in order to obtain funds through the department of education and various federal tax breaks, this is it. Avoid at all costs.

The staff tries to be helpful, but undying obedience to Draconian rules and policies makes any kind of assistance and accommodation difficult to impossible, and 2-step tasks become 25-step processes that take 10 times as long as they should. Really frustrating to work with.

The SLM campus is by far the best but the classes feel like just high school and I felt like I was treated like a child.

Good School but they seem to be lacking when it comes to internal communications and efficiency.

I graduated from SSC. I took several classes that I didnt need. It is a good college but I feel that I would have finished earlier if I had gotten proper advising. My advice would be do your homework, know what your academic goals are and make sure you are taking the classes that apply. I actually spoke to a librarian and she took the time to look over all my classes and helped me select the classes that applied to my goals. I am now a graduate of UCF and although their advising is a little better, you still need to know your direction of your degree. As far as campuses, I have attended Sanford, Oviedo, and Altamonte. I prefer Altamonte because they are a smaller campus and a little more personable. As far as the professors, just do the work, dont be defensive (its college), and study groups are great (they can get you through a very hard course). As with all educational institutions, there are good and bad professors. I use Rate my Professor.

I am not sure about academically because I have not attended this school since 2007. What I can say is that trying to get anything taken care of like account balances and transcripts is a complete nightmare. These people have now wasted two of my hour lunch breaks, and 25 minutes during work to try and take care of a past due fee that is 8 years old, just so I can have my ONE CLASS CREDIT transferred to my new college in Missouri. They will not release the transcripts until its paid. I tried to do so today and was told that I could not pay by phone. Well, I am not making a 30 hour round trip to make a payment, and I have limited time to get these transcripts before spring semester starts. I was then transferred to admissions, the help desk, and the cashier, (back and forth) because I was told that I could login to my account to pay the bill. After going through the depths of hell to try and get my login and password reset, I was able to get in. OH, WHAT DO YOU KNOW, I CANT PAY IT ONLINE due to the age of the bill. I called back for the 4th time today and was told that I had to call and pay the collection agency (who I never received a bill from regarding this) to pay. I work two jobs and I am a single parent, I do not have time to waste and they have done nothing but that. WASTE MY TIME. I had to call the collection agency to pay the bill, call them back after 3:30pm to get a confirmation number, THEN call the SCC back to give the confirmation # to them. THEN....FINALLY, I can pay ONCE AGAIN to have the transcripts sent to my new school. I could have just done that in the first place and been done with it.Oh yah....also.....When I originally called, I stated that I never received a bill for this amount due, and that I would like to see the bill before I pay it. The lady on the phone said that she can only send it to the address on file, and had no access to update the address to my current one. Havent lived in Florida since 2008. The most unhelpful, poorly trained, ignorant folks Ive dealt with in a long time. Thank God I never have to deal with them again after this issue.

Dont waste your time with this school. Communication in the enrollment department is horrendous. The staff are rude and seem as if they dont care about your issues. This school is not very veteran friendly and the staff in the financial aid department did not care to square away my financial aid because I was already recieving military benefits. My financial aid was suspended because of over hours and a way to recieve financial aid was to switch my educational program. Who ever was in charge of switching my AA to an AS degree would not do so because I was already recieving military benefits. Pretty much didnt want to go through the work and believed I didnt deserve it. SSC is not very helpful towards vererans.

Its ok I guess. I do believe that they are just out for money though. When I needed advice on college related things I emailed my advisor and never received an email back. And also a math professor I had was really rude. I asked him for extra help with the homework and he said that was yestaurday. Were moving on. Plus that same teacher was going to kick me out of class for missing a few days, but another classmate missed 6 days and he said nothing. So because of that I rate this institution a one.

This place is a joke. They bill you when I didnt even attend here. Then they claim you took out loans and until they are paid, you cant attend anywhere else. I submitted a police report to them that says I did not attend and they claim their internal investigation doess I did .So I guess they are above the law in investigating now. Ill be filing a lawsuit tomorrow

For a higher level education institute, they are extremely disorganized and will never accept it when they make a mistake. They will try everything they can to blame you for their mistake, ridiculous college.

Great location and a ton of offerings for certificates through bachelor degrees.

This school only cares about how much they can make , they do not care about the students. I really have an issue with the books . Why do just dont make a regular book. I always have to buy a f***** binder because their books always come with Loose pages.. that is so stupid!!! Im so tired of this school....

There has yet to be a semester where I dont have some set back due to the financial aid office.
