In the training range, both instructors; Orlando and Jose, they will give you everything that you need to get your CDL. Other than that is up to you. About the facility and equipment, the school can do better, the ones on my class was very poor. Finally, the administration should not have more than 12 students for class, its just no right (in my class, the one after and before we were more than 20 students for two instructors).

Like all the other complaints mines is similar. I called to get information told me I had to come in.. So I waisted time and gas so They can treat it as if your going for an apartment or buying a car.. they make you pay $50.00 for a background check.. thats just to get something out of your pocket to start with.. then they will call you just to tell you its either pay $6,000 or have a credit score over 620.. nd if you dont have either get a co-signer or you cant attend...

I would like to thank everyone that had a part in me gaining my CDL Class A license. Steve, Bud, Jake, Tim, Terry, Dave (cowboy), Rex, and Jack. Without your knowledge and instruction I would have never been able to do what I learned in 3 weeks.I would like to personnaly thank Todd in the office because without you helping me get into the class, i would have not been able to do anything. And thanks to all the personnel in the office who fax all my resumes and did all my paper work. The whole experiance was well worth the time and money.I would like to say anyone who doesnt put forth the effort and listen to the instruction or doesnt ask for futher instuction only have themselves to blame for not obtaining thier license.Again I cant Thank You enough for a new beginning for me and my son.

Very good instructors with a lot of experience. You have enough time to learn everything you need to pass the CDL test and the driving portion. You have a 10 hour day. Unfortunately the chairs are horrible. They want you to bring your own lunch but they have the smallest and oldest microwave available in the world. It takes over 5 min to get a meal warm up. $7,000 dollars and they can’t provide a better set up for students.

I attended TDI Sanford and tho the course is accelerated and my start date was changed several times, and I was put in three different classes I was able to catch on. I was sent home for three weeks and told they had no idea when I could return. Today your manager George made the decision to terminate me as a student with no cause. Its extremely disheartening and race driven. The trainers are really great caring people I just want to tell them thank you. I learned to maneuver my trailer in one week. I was terminated today because of the color of my skin and being a female the manager no longer wanted to pay for my single occupancy hotel stay. Black lives do matter we do not want preferential treatment we just want to be treated fairly. I wouldn’t recommend this school to anyone that is serious about a career in trucking. EXCELLENT TRAINERS HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT! Once they take your money that’s it! Also do not sign anything without reading it.

With regards to the incredible instructors that have the knowledge to teach. This school was not a pleasant experience. They say you can show up without a permit then require you to get it with in a day or two or you’ll be dropped. This was the case for several students while I attended there. They could have gave a warning to study for the permit test but never told any students to do so. I took upon myself to do it anyways prior to showing up.The academics portion is out dated and is not taught up to par with modern day teaching technics. They basically don’t teach you. Have fun learning yourself. The practical application portion of the school (two weeks) is done at your Pace. You may get help. You might not. On the road training the instructor will help you at all times.Unless you don’t care about how you get your license and if you are confident in yourself. Then spend your money here. If you have a hard time learning or can’t drive well. Go somewhere else. If you attend be ready to be disappointed very fast with in the first hour there.

After my bad experience at the TDI, I will never recommend that place. I was so excited to finally be able to get my CDL by attending the Truck Driver Institue at Sanford. During the first week, Steve my first instroctor was going through a lot of paperwork including the permit, the pretrip inspection and work applications. We had a lot of fun during that week. Nonetheless, I felt like it was a waste of my time because I already had my permit. The stressing part started on the second week which is split between Range and road. At the range, they have 3 instroctors to teach the 3 manoeuvers JOSE , ORLANDO, and BUD; They are very helpful, cool and outstanding. They will show you how each manoeuver is done a Couple of Times, work with you whenever you need help, and the rest is ledt to you to teach yourself, youtube , and classmates. A special thank you to Bud who was always going above and beyond to help everyone at the range; He is an outstanding helpfull person. The trucks with almost daily mechanical problems were a big issue at this school; they are too old and barely working with damaged tires, dirty, leaking oil from everywhere, clash and stick are very hard to control. A school that is making thousands of dollars each week and couldnt provide the tools trucks in good conditions for students. Moreover, with many students in the class, not a lot of time behind the wheel to master the 3 manoeuvers. Also Two times the school was short road drivers, so we were held in the classroom for hours while they were trying to figure out what to do which lead of course to less and less practice. Before starting the practice over the road, we were asked to choose between automatic and manual, and I choose to learn manual. However, they put me in automatic with Dave for two days. He was screaming and yelling just because he told me to stop before 7/11 and stopped infront of it because it was a right turn in a red trafic light, and I was focusing to make it perfectely, so I did not see that gas station which was right after CVS. I asked again to be put in manual which they did on my third day with Jack. He was outstanding explaining all the details and made me love to learn manual. I felt like it was my first time over the road. At the end of the day I told them to keep me in manual and was hoping to keep Jack. The next day I was so suprised when I found myself with Rex in automatic. I tried to explain to him before starting the trip that I was supposed to be in manual. He told me in a very rude way that there is noway I would be able to learn manual in that school. I finished my trip, but I was so mad and frustrated. I had to complain again to be put back in manual because I was losing days of ractice. My 5th day they put me in manual but with Terrie. He is unpleasant to be with. He never tried to teach me or show me how to downshift. He made me feel unsafe to ride with because he never wears a seat belt, states how he will have the pleasure to hit and kill people. I paid my money to learn how to drive manual, but at the end I switched back to automatic because I felt helpless and because of the attitude Terrie gave me on my second and third time of learning manual. My last Two days on the road were with Jake in automatic; he was so cool to ride with. He gave me the confident I lost from being with Terrie Thank you Jake. Finaly, These drivers Rex, Dave and Terrie made me hate the day I decided to join TDI. In conclusion, I passed my CDL, but the school TDI failed me horribly because of the daily stress with some road instroctors and the unsafe trucks they have. I felt bad for failing students because the school rush them for test before being ready. DOT MUST POP UP AND CHECK THE SCHOOL AND THOSE TRUCKS.

I just had a driver contact the school to ask about taking a road test to Get a manual transmission certification on his license since florida is changing the requirements and following federal regs effective 09/2019 the driver asked a simple question if he needed to bring the truck only or a truck and trailer since he already has his license and this part is for shifting only. The director of the school tells him thats a stupid question but when the driver tries to explain the director cuts him off. Very ignorant person to be the director of the school. Scary to think i was about to reach out to this school to start hiring students from them.

TDI Sanford Florida! I just graduated! Before mentioning anyone in particular, let me say this’. Study, pretrip inspection before signing up. Know the parts and what it takes to pass the pre-trip inspection. Your test will not be so overwhelming and you can focus more on your backing maneuvers needed to pass the skills test. Study and get an understanding of offset backing, straight line backing, and 90 degree alley docking. This too, will make the course go by smoother and with minimal stress. We are in Florida, it’s hot. The trucks are old, seats on some trucks broke, and trying to find a gear can really be challenging on the day cabs trucks on the range, no air conditioning for the most part. I personally feel, the money we spend for school, should be better invested in the equipment the give us to train on the range in. Ok, onto the trainers, recruiters and so on... If you show an eagerness to learn, the help is there. Asked for it. Terry, the main yard instructor is an amazing man and has a well rounded lifelong list of life achievements. He will teach you! You have to be committed. After all... who wants to be in that heat all day everyday. Terry does it and has for a long time! Ask him questions! He is more than willing to help! I love you Terry! Everyone there wants us to be successful.. But, you need to give it your all too, as I have learned at TDI SANFORD FLORIDA. I FOUGHT MYSELF, SLOWLY BUILDING CONFIDENCE! It was Terry and And the other instructors along with my own battles that gave me my CDL. Thank you Terry for believing in me. Van... he’s usually in charge it seems of teaching 90 degree alley docking. He super firm, a great instructor and does everything in his power to make this maneuver stick in you head. Without him,and Van teaching me not just how to alley dock, more important, how to fix a situation when things don’t go perfect, I would not have passed alley docking. I love you Van!! My boyfriend,,, lol.. onto another favorite of mine... Jack! He’s another instructor at TDI! Jack made me feel really good when I felt I had given up on myself. He said: Mary, I am rooting for you! That meant so very much to me! Bill, there are a few Bill’s! I don’t know his last name atm, but he was the one to test me at the end. He was very encouraging, they all were. Steve, an instructor, did not have much time with him.. but also know, he has his heart in it and also is a great instructor. The big boss/teacher Rex! Your not going to get too much humor there. I have nothing bad to say. He is to the point and a no nonsense kind of guy.. jokes don’t work! Lol, Rex! Thank you for everything. Well, I more than likely missed a few people. It’s a good school. Please, don’t forget, study before signing on... life and class will go much smoothers! Thank TDI SANFORD FLORIDA AND THE ENTIRE CREW! I will try and send you a cool blast of air from somewhere up north!

Attended a month ago. It is not a peice of cake but very doable. Everyone I know of in attendance at the time, maybe 20 people, left with a prehire with a company and will make approx 50k a year after their company orientation period. If youre standing on a corner flipping a sign its something to think about. Also, if you do not speak English, do not attend. All you need is a clean driving record to attend but you have to be able to read and communicate in English. If you cant, you will fail. Trust me. Cost is 5k, maybe 7k if you finance. Most if not all trucking companies will pay this off for you. Road trucks are good, backing/range trucks not so much but serve the purpose. There is only one instructor I didnt care for but that was my problem, not yours. Rest of the staff is fine but Joe and Sarge deseve a call out for going above and beyond what is needed. Side note, no one yells at you as others have said, there is plenty of time to practice backing and my class was 13 folks, they do just throw you in a truck but I wouldnt expect a golf cart.

I had a really wonderful experience with TDI. All the trainers, especially Joe, Tim, Terry, and Sarge, went above and beyond to really help me get it and succeed and pass my tests. There were days when I was so frustrated at myself for not getting it, I would have to go to the bathroom to cry it out before I could continue, but they were very understanding while still being firm and direct with their instruction.Trust me, Im pretty sure they probably thought I was NEVER going to get it, but they never stopped trying and helping and giving valuable advice, and I cant tell you how much it meant to me that they all cared enough to go the distance with me!I had a really small class of 7 with a bunch of awesome people, which made the day to day a little easier and a lot more fun. I learned a lot in 3 weeks, though I really feel that, for the money, they should strongly consider extending it an extra week, and make sure the classes dont get too full. The class before us had 14 people, and all but 5 of them failed their DOT tests. So ask them, if you decide to go, how full the class is. If its more than 10, schedule for the next week! Your time on the range practicing the maneuvers is valuable...if there are too many people, you wont get the time you need to succeed.I highly recommend TDI to anyone who is serious about becoming a truck driver.I compared TDI with some other schools, (RoadMasters, Mid-Florida Tech, etc.) and I took the chance with TDI; I will never regret that decision. I will always remember my experience at TDI as a positive one and do recommend it to anyone who is serious about becoming a driver and wants a quality education..Thanks TDI!!P.S. If you are having trouble getting the money together to attend, here in Florida the state run job placement centers will pay the cost of the tuition. You have to jump through a million hoops and it takes a lot of time and filling out a forest worth of papers, but if youre serious and you have the time to wait for them to approve it (about 90 days in FL), its an option for folks who dont have good credit or co-signers or cant pay cash outright. My brother-in-law lives in Indiana and they also paid for his truck driver training, so maybe its a nationwide thing?

Had a great experience here. Hats off to all the trainers, especially Sarge, Terry, Joe, Dave, Tim, Wild Bill and of course Rex. George and Rodney were very helpful as well. Had awesome classmates, we had a lot of laughs while training. Learned a lot in 3 weeks. As promised job placement was easy. After my 2nd week, I had 10 job offers. Look forward to a successful future. I highly recommend TDI to anyone who is serious about getting into the trucking industry. Looking at some of the other reviews I understand that not everyone may have had the experience that I have had. I know that there is no place that is perfect. I compared TDI with some other companies, I took the chance with TDI, and was not disappointed. I also know, You will never please everyone. But I wanted people to know that there are people that have had good experiences. I was one of them. People are always ready to post something bad, but not everyone takes the time to post something good. In closing, I will always remember my experience at TDI as a positive one and do recommend it to all. Thanks TDI!!!
