For our friend Cory Elliot, alleged Adult victim at the Marine Tech Program at STC Sarasota, we recommend to contact ABYC directly with a formal complaint regarding the poor quality of the Instructor and his/her poor work ethics as you described. The Instructor must be ABYC Certified and in order to keep that Credential he has to teach within ABYC standards. In other hand you can fill a Civil Lawsuit against the College since it seems to me, they have delivered a poor product to you in exchange of your money, even so, if you have received a Federal Grant, they MUST to provide QUALITY education. Claim a full refund, even, if you only have 5 days after the first day of starting. My brother went through the same situation reason we are looking for more victims to file a group lawsuit. Contact us. Cheers.

I am a current student in the marine service technology program. I paid for these courses because it was one of the highest rated schools in this field. I have attended since August 2020 and have had to figure pretty much everything on my own. The teacher has multiple classes at once, which includes high school students and adults. The adults are paying and the high schoolers are not. The young kids require a lot of attention and help. There are two high school classes going on during our day and it definitely takes away from what we are should be learning. For the first six months we sat around and did absolutely nothing other than read for a half an hour a day. We would then do nothing but busy work, cleaning and rearranging. It was so bad I complained to multiple teachers and the person in charge of the program. Nothing has changed. The curriculum is just breezed through, touching only the bare minimum. We have taken 3 Abyc exams and 95 percent of us have failed all 3. It is not for a lack of trying we as a class all study together what the teacher believes is going to be on the test. Only the students who have had previous experience in this field where able to pass. I feel I have wasted a year of my life and have been cheated out of thousands of dollars. I have completed the rigging class, the electrical, the diesel, the drive train class and I just took a test on the potable water systems. Half of the test was completely foreign to us. I have never rigged a boat in class, nor have I worked on anything with a potable water system or took apart a drive train. Now the teacher is trying to get the adults to teach the high school students. This program is a joke.

I went to their information session for surgical technician , and just from simply calling and going there I did not like the experience . I do not recommend going there if you want to be a SURGICAL TECHNICIAN. They want you to pay around 500$ before even getting accepted and it’s non refundable, a tour is not included in the session and I saw a review on here that a surgical technician said there was a 20% passing rate I asked the lady and she pretended like she knew nothing about , she just said they had a really bad dropout rate because students “couldn’t handle it” and that’s why they’re making people who to get in a program take a 4 hour long test. As well as a 2 hour long test . I have never written a bad google review but I really hope nobody wastes their money on this program and not even to know if you’re getting accepted . The only good side of this school is that it’s in a nice area and the interior is very clean and nice . Unless you want to share majority of the college with high school students I don’t recommend you going here.

I just graduated from the Surgical Technology program at this school with the instructor Ms.Daise, she was excellent!! There is sooo much to learn in such a short period of time and she was very thorough and prepared us very well for our clinical rotation. She was our sole instructor this time around. I guess in the past they normally have a seperate instructor for clinicals. We did not this time, And I would not of had it any other way. Having Ms.Daise as our instructor made our clincial rotation so much better, everyone at the location of our clinicals couldnt say anything but great things about our class and our instructor. I guess they have had issues with the other instructor at the school that we did not. This program was great! The hospital literally wants to hire every single one of us, thats how great this experience has been for all of us! Ms.Daise is the best!! She is the heart and soul of this program, she really cares and loves to teach and it is apparent. She also has the standards for Surgical technology down pat, And doesnt teach short cuts. SHE IS THE REAL DEAL!! I would give her ten stars if I could, and I would give 2 stars to the Health science Office staff... Too many politics going on in the office and they care more about their status quo then making sure the students have what they need to succeed. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to get into this field!

The worst experience I have ever had doing business anywhere. After losing my husband to cancer, I decided to get a quick little certificate, to help me re-enter the work force, up to speed. I began the enrollment process in March of 2018. Due to the absolute, utter, incompetence of the staff, I started in December 2018 ( Business Management & Analysis). We had no teacher for over a month. No idea what to do or how to do it. Most of us spent over a month, just practicing typing. I am about to take a major exam that would issue a Certificate saying I have mastered Office programs - they ENTIRE reason I signed up. Due to the lack of a teacher and us being so far behind, there is no time left to study. I have resolved myself to the fact that I will fail. The teacher we do have is elderly (no disrespect). But she is extremely burnt out, nasty, rude, unprofessional, angry and abusive. When you can get her to help you, she will be sure to point out, in a subtle way, that you are simply an idiot. Disappointing beyond words, demoralizing, and disheartening. I will finish the program, as I need this on my resume. But I attend class every single day, kicking and screaming, nauseous, on the verge of a migraine. Such a shame.

Is it a college or high school? Walking around here every day 75% of the students I see in the hallways, classrooms, library, cafeteria, park, etc are high school students. This school claims to be a college but looks and runs like a high school. Adults are treated like high school students with the only exception being youre allowed to arrive 15 minutes later and leave 15 minutes earlier. The technology courses are too accelerated for a beginner to be competitive for jobs upon graduation. You may qualify for entry-level positions but the school will not give you a competitive advantage. The classes are scheduled for you to speed through chapters and assignments and sacrificing the grasping of the material.

I was enrolled as an EMR and EMT student and I hope to enroll in the paramedic program. The instructors are the best you will ever get, amazing and caring men and women who try to do everything for their students and teach you how even the smallest things can go a long way. Im so thankful for them.

Speaking in behalf of my girlfriend, this is a disorganized and selfish school. They made her pay 500 extra for missing two days whenever she told the professor ahead of time she was going to be missing. Its been more than a month since she graduated. After a lot of confusion from their side, they are now barely sending her the diploma. If I ever moved the Florida to continue my studies, I would not go to this place. Period.
