Chris is the best! He is so good at teaching and my guitar lesson is my favorite part of every week. I was an absolute beginner and at my 6th lesson I was able to play and sing one of my favorite songs!! I couldnt believe it. I highly recommend Chris! Also, if youre worried about in person lessons with covid, he built a super covid safe studio.

My daughter began lessons with Chris at nine years old, he helped us with everything. We first came to him without a guitar and he lent her his guitars during lessons and had her try many different guitars to get a feeling of what she liked. He pointed us to a locally owned shoppe for when we were ready to buy. Now, seven years later, we have a few guitars (even one of his old ones!), my daughter is fantastic at playing and she still looks forward to coming to seeing him! He had her playing from the first lessons and has evolved with her musical interest and experience over the years. He was playing Disney songs with her as a child, and now they rock and roll!

I have been a student of Chris for about 10 months, and I am extremely happy that I chose him to be my guitar teacher!! I was an absolute beginner, and as of now I am able to play a huge selection of songs. What I love the most about Chris teaching style is that he focuses on what your personal goals are, and then makes it happen. And he is VERY patient, and very fun, too! My main goal was to be able to play songs for my family and friends, just for fun... and I have achieved that! But Chris also continues to challenge me every single class to go a step beyond, and learn something more difficult each time. So I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking to learn how to play the guitar, or even anyone who knows how to play but wants to increase their skill level.

I tried a couple of other instructors before finding Chris, and he was a breath of fresh air: helpful, practical, flexible, encouraging, incredibly observant, and insightful. He tends to hide his vast knowledge until you get comfortable. In less than a year, I went from knowing absolutely nothing about guitar to being able to play several dozen songs, accompany myself as a singer, and even inch into lead guitar, which I would never have imagined doing. He is superb.

Chris is an amazing instructor and musician. If you have ever been inclined to learn to play guitar, Chris can teach anyone anything. He is a great listener and customizes his lessons to suit the needs of his students while pushing them to be better each day. He is fun to talk to and eased the anxiety I felt around wanting to learn about music but not previously having any musical ability. He’s the best!

I have only been attending lessons with Chris for a little over a month and in that time I have seen major improvement in my playing and understanding of electric guitar. Chris’ lessons are entertaining and focused on me as an individual. Chris has a unique way of teaching what the student WANTS to learn while at the same time teaching what the student NEEDS to learn to become a better guitar player. It’s a great approach in a relaxed atmosphere. If you are looking for lessons regardless of skill level I would recommend Chris very highly.

My daughter didnt want to go for lessons for guitar and wanted to learn on her own. After a few months of online learning she agreed to try a lesson with an instructor. She had her first lesson with Chris and decided 5 mins into that lesson that she wanted to take lessons forever! Chris is a wonderful instructor and coach.Every lesson is filled with praise, fun, improvements and challenges. Tia looks forward to every lesson and her enjoyment of guitar continues to grow.Tia loves the guitar more than ever now and enjoys singing, which Chris encourages at lessons and jam sessions with other students. Tia plays acoustic and electric guitar. Each lesson has instruction, tips, tricks and even guitar fixing when needed. The songs for each lesson are picked by Tia which allows her to learn on songs she enjoys.I highly recommend Chris as your guitar instructor!!

I have met and worked with many musicians in my life, but none of them compare to Chris. Not only is he an amazing musician and person, he knows how to TEACH effectively based on different learning styles. This is SO important. There are plenty of guys out there who can shred on the guitar, but few who can teach you how to do it! As an added bonus, it wont take long to feel like Chris is your friend because hes just an all around great guy. Extra bonus are the jam sessions he puts on for students. This is an excellent way for players of all levels to meet other musicians and take their playing to the next level. Because of those sessions, I gained the confidence to become a gigging musician. I cant say enough about Chris...if you or anyone you know want to learn to play the guitar, you will not find anyone better!!

I started lessons with Chris when I was in my late forties and had just a basic idea of a handful of chords. I’ve been with Chris now for over 9 years and I can play over 40 songs of all different genres including lead guitar on a handful of them. There is literally nothing Chris doesn’t know about popular and contemporary music. I play hard rock, classic rock, folk, country, jazz and the blues because Chris knows all of these genres and more. Whenever I challenge him with a new song he’s never heard, within one lesson he has it tabbed out and is playing it. Then he teaches me to play it. He has helped me choose the right guitars and equipment and helps me set them up. He even teaches me how to use various pedals and other gear. Not only has he helped me learn how to play, he has helped me learn how to write songs. I am to the point where I play in public at open mics, I play around the campfire and I’ve even played at two of my kids weddings. I would have never come as far as I have without his help and guidance. As you can tell Chris is not a fly by night teacher. This is his profession. He cares about his students and nudges them along to do something with what he has taught them. There is likely no better teacher in the valley. If you are serious about learning how to play the guitar Chris is your guy!

I have been one of Chris students for years. I started learning how to play and put together the most basic of chords and now he is teaching me the tips and tricks of music theory. During that time, Ive branched out from classic rock into metal of various kinds, classical, bluegrass, and jazz to name a few. And I can say with certainty that I would not be where I am today without his instruction. Ive yet to introduce him to something that he cant play, and even after years of knowing him, he never ceases to amaze me. His raw talent and passion for teaching budding guitarists is endless. He can teach anyone how to play. In addition to teaching people to play, he hosts jam sessions, in which his students and other musicians can get together and perform various pieces and display their talents. Its a great way to learn new skills in a relaxed and constructive environment. Hes professional, patient, flexible, and very enjoyable to be around. If youre looking for a true guitarist, look no further than this man.

Chris Nastri is a gifted musician who has a talent for teaching others to excel to their highest ability. My son started with Chris years ago. Within the first 15 minutes of the first lesson, he completely changed the method of strumming and picking that my son had been taught. Over the next few months, my sons ability rocketed. His desire to practice grew as he increased his ability to perform over the 6+ years that he studied with Chris. He learned to jam, compose, perform before audiences and record his own compositions. Chris inspired a talent in my son that made me want to learn to play the guitar! I could not have found a better teacher and musician.

I started taking guitar lessons from Chris about 2 years ago, after unsuccessfully trying to teach myself how to play using various websites. Since starting with Chris, I have seen vast improvement in my playing and am now able to play dozens of songs. Chris is an incredibly talented musician but, more importantly, he is an excellent teacher. His patience and insightfulness are apparent at each lesson and he always has suggestions for different ways of doing things. When I get stuck on something, he helps me break it down into manageable parts and work it out. Chris lets me learn the songs that I want to learn, and constantly encourages me to push myself to try more and more difficult things. Best of all, he is a really kind, fun person. I cannot recommend him enough.

Chris is the best. Whether you’re just learning your first few chords or you’re shredding through Van Halen tunes, Chris can analyze where you’re at and give you things to work on that will get you closer to where you want to be -regardless of the style of music. Since i’ve been with him, we’ve worked on jazz, blues, country, soul, and classic rock tunes. He is very knowledgeable on the guitar and, further more, he has a very deep understanding of music in general. He explains things in ways that are easy to understand and he is very down to earth and personable as well. Couldn’t recommend him enough:)

I started off several years ago, like most people. Cheap Fender gee-tar purchased on Amazon, copy of Rocksmith on my computer. Not learning a damn thing. Instructional DVDs left me confused. I came across a flyer in Fresh & Easy. Now, several years later, I have learned many songs. I feel confident enough to play in public. Even started signing some of my favorite tunes. Chris adjusts to your skill level and works from there. Never regretted the decision to take that phone number down.

Chris Nastri is by far the best guitar instructor I can imagine. He is knowledgeable, extremely patient and active in his profession. I did not want to learn the current popular style of music but preferred Latin music. He not only delved into this music style with enthusiasm but also wrote music for me that is not only beautiful, but also addressed my weak areas. I would recommend Chris to any age group, as I am not among the younger group he teaches. I am 72. He quickly found my weaknesses and helped me correct them. Chris is the greatest!

I have been receiving lessons from Chris for the past three years. During that time we have covered a mass of music theory drawing from Chriss ASU training, an introduction to Jazz, again based on Chris’s ASU education and an introduction to Blues, tapping into Chriss years of experience as a professional musician. In our lessons, we have explored fingerpicking techniques, irregular rhythms, strumming patterns, timing, dynamic range, application of scales to lead solos and a myriad of other topics. Chris is always punctual, engaged, knowledgeable and open to accommodating my occasional tangents. He is also, fortunately for me, extremely patient as I slowly learn material. Chris knows how to teach, not just play. I thoroughly enjoy my lessons and look forward to each week’s session. It is time and money well spent. I am a much better player now than three years ago.

I have been taking guitar lessons from Chris Nastri with Phoenix Guitar lessons to help take my very beginner guitar skills to the next level. Working with him has so far been very educational and has drastically moved my guitar skills forward as opposed to doing it on my own. He is very skilled at teaching the music and showing you at a good and challenging pace. I have tried to learn guitar from some very good skilled musicians but it is hard when they lack the teaching skills. This is what sets Chris apart is he is a great and experienced musician with the talent and know how to teach a student at any level! I look forward to many more lessons and becoming a rock star one day!! LOL

I started with guitar later in life. I had always wanted to play but other things always got in the way. So in my mid-forties after finally deciding to make time for myself I decided to start. My first year I tried learning with a popular DVD series and youtube videos. I learned quickly that there are definite shortcomings to these options. You cant ask questions of or be critiqued by a video or DVD. I tried these methods for a year and realized I was not as far along as I had hoped to be.I started searching for an instructor. I chose Chris because I was very impressed with his background. Between his study of music in the ASU program, his real life music experience and his having a degree in education it seemed like the perfect combination. Its one thing to be able to do something but not everyone that can do something has the knowledge, ability and personality to be able to teach it. Having him host his monthly jam sessions has also helped me with my nerves when performing in front of others.I have now been taking lessons from Chris for six years. Very quickly Chris was able to teach me the fundamentals of guitar and I could have stopped taking lessons then and been an ok guitarist. The thing I like about guitar is that you can take it to whatever skill level you wish from beginner to master. I am confident that no matter how long I take lessons from Chris he has the knowledge and skill to help me to continue to improve my playing to whatever level I choose.
