I have been a member of the ASB community for the past 13 years. As a parent I could not ask for a better experience both academically and personally for both my children. ASB nurtures the whole student. The staff here always has the best interests of each child in mind. They challenge them academically in preparation for high school as well as teach them kindness, integrity and faith. The community is inclusive and involved. It truly is a village dedicated to the success of EVERY child.

I only have good memories of my time at this school. I especially remember all of my great teachers including my first grade teacher, Mrs. Hurley, who I still remember fondly (even after 10+ years). At a young age she instilled in me a love for learning. ASB prepared me for my continued education and I still remember many of the lessons I learned today.

Wow, Im really surprised at all the negative, one star reviews of Assumption-St. Bridget. And the specific feedback is rather shocking considering after 11 years of my 3 children attending the school, I have encountered none of the specific stories that were told. I have 3 daughters who have attended the school. One is now a sophomore at Holy Names who entered high school completely prepared to be successful at that very academic and rigorous high school. My middle daughter who is now in 7th grade has a fairly significant learning disability and from the very beginning of her time at ASB, the school has worked closely with us so that she is supported both academically and socially - including differentiated learning. This included not only working closely with the teachers but more importantly with the principals. Principals set the tone of the school and both principals embraced the mandate from the Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Seattle for Diversified Learners (check out their RAD Program and all the work they are doing school-wide on executive functioning). Our daughter has been successful because of these principals commitment to my family and our school community. My third daughter who is in 5th grade has loved her teachers and friends she has made at the school. And academically, I have absolutely no complaints - I truly feel that its top notch and one of the best schools in our area of Seattle. It hasnt been always perfect - there have been bumps in the road, not every classroom and teacher has been perfect (what school is?), but as I mentioned, the school is committed to the kids and thats what is most important for me.

I attended ASB myself, back when it was called Assumption, and my kids have had the benefit of attending ASB as well. They are third generation and I couldnt be more happy with our choice. Second time around with my kids, I am 13 years running at the school and we have been pleased with the academic, social, and spiritual makeup of the school. The teachers are skilled, thoughtful, respectful, and put forth a tremendous amount of effort. They genuinely care about their students. We have chosen to get involved in all areas of the school - believe me, there is something for everyone! I have seen this community gather around families as they endure hardships, and I have seen this community gather around families to celebrate their successes.ASB has provided an environment for my kids to grow and mature, and to become confident, competent members of their community.

We are beginning our 9th year at ASB. Our three kids have had a chance to participate in everything from service projects, cross country and science club to volleyball, coding club and band. Their teachers are engaging and approachable and there have been several instances in which they went above and beyond to help our kids. There are endless opportunities to get involved and meet other families whether its in the classroom, on field trips, at after school sports and clubs or through social events such as the school auction and Halloween Carnival. We feel our kids will graduate from ASB academically, spiritually and socially well-prepared.

My family has chosen ASB as our school of choice for nearly 20 years. We have found it to be a high-performing, values-added education that is affordable in an urban setting. ASB provides the significant plus of moral, and spiritual development. Like most parents, we have very high standards when it comes to our children’s education. ASB has not let us down. When our older sons walked down the aisle at their high school and college graduation ceremonies, my husband and I reflected back on the parenting choices we made along the way. While we regretted some choices, we have NEVER regretted sending our sons to ASB. Actually, we have loudly applauded our decision to invest in the ASB community through our volunteer efforts, our church worship, and our pocketbooks. Our sons are intelligent, compassionate, and socially adept young men. We give credit to ASB’s teachings, community, and culture for helping to shape them. While we admit that ASB did have some administrative issues in the past 3 years, it is a new day. ASB has built our trust. Our youngest is attending ASB, and we are delighted with the education he is receiving.ASB School has been an anchor in the community for years, with longstanding ties to generations of students, and their families. No brief hiccup in administration can take this legacy away. ASB succeeds academically because of the community that it has generated. Faculty and staff are role models who share their faith, their talents, and their time. The pastors, principals, teachers, parents, guardians, and students at ASB typically trust each other and respectfully hold each other to the highest standards.I see ASB School as a high-social-capital institution. This social capital has positive effects far beyond the four walls of the school, and long after the kids graduate. For this I am forever grateful.

Both of my daughters attended Assumption-St. Bridget School. One is now a Sophomore at a local Catholic high school and the other is currently in 7th grade at ASB. I speak from 11 years of experience in being a parent of children who have been truly blessed by their years at ASB. I have seen my sweet shy girl, who struggled with Math in her formative years, turned in to a student who excels at Math and is in the honors program at her high school. I have seen over and over the way Assumption-St. Bridget empowers their students to be leaders in so many ways. I have seen them lift students up when they struggle and encourage them to try, try again until they are successful. I have witnessed teachers who care and administrators who want nothing but the best for their students. Every school goes through change and sometimes it is positive, and sometimes it is a struggle. A lot has happened in our 11 years at ASB but I truly believe it is on track to continue to be an excellent source of education for children in NE Seattle. I have never thought twice about our decision to send our girls to ASB and can honestly say that it is the best decision we ever made regarding our girls education. They are well-rounded, well-educated leaders and I owe so much of that to what they have been exposed to at ASB. It is an exciting time to be a part of ASB too with a shift in several administrators and a remodel that will be underway beginning the summer of 2018. The future is bright at ASB!I strongly encourage you to call the school if you are considering sending your kids here. You will find warm administrators and faculty, competent teachers who care and a very welcoming community. It is a special place, I can assure you. Dont take my word for it, call and find out for yourself. And... when reading reviews, dont allow them to make the decision for you, take them all with a grain of salt. The good, the bad and the in-between, you never know what might motivate someone to mysteriously write multiple extremely similar reviews all within the same week.

This review is for ASB school. I am not a member of either the parish or the Catholic Church. When it was time to look for kindergarten, our family lived in Everett and worked in Seattle. Placing our daughter in the Everett school system was not an option that worked with our schedules nor was I comfortable with her being 25 miles away if something happened. I knew I could petition Seattle Public Schools but at the time was considering the Perkins school in Maple Leaf. However, once we toured ASB, we knew we had found the right school for our daughter. We are now entering our third year with ASB. I am still as happy today as I was when I chose the school. The main reason we choose to continue to send our daughter to ASB is that faculty and administrators genuinely care for the overall well-being of each child. They encourage them to be respectful of others and to be responsible. They help them understand how they can make better decisions and help them through all of the transitions they experience through the natural growth and development of young people. It is true that we saw faculty turnover this past year. The same week two teachers resigned from ASB, two people in my office resigned as well (totally unrelated to each other). We live in a very mobile, fluid economy and people have to make the best decisions for their families and themselves. Our dream jobs are not always a perfect fit for our lives. After being in management the last decade, I find turnover helps keep people engaged and discourages complacency. I don’t believe we are meant to work the same job for life. But change can be hard to accept for those left behind. The second reason we choose ASB is the outstanding education and opportunities our daughter is exposed to each day. They celebrate the students’ successes regularly. For example, our daughter was experiencing the normal challenges learning to read presents. Mrs. Jeanette Hurley, her first grade teacher, formed a reading club for several of the children which encouraged them to keep trying. Within a few weeks we were back on track. Jeanette turned what others might have considered a negative into a positive with her approach. She also helped us learn how to work with our daughter to encourage reading instead of the constant frustration we were experiencing every night when we picked up a book. I feel I could go to Jeanette or any of the teachers to ask for help and they will step-up without hesitation. Both my husband and I grew up in the public school system and never thought we would choose a private religious school but it has been the best decision for our family. We have since moved into Seattle and can choose from three highly rated neighborhood Seattle public schools but ASB is still the best decision for our family. Our daughter looks forward to going to ASB. She likes the teachers and administrators. We like the education and values she is learning as well as the wonderful community.

Its Wyatt again, so I had an amazing conversation with the Mrs. Riggle the ASB councilor (who honestly is an amazing person and I assume an outstanding mother) told me that my comment that I made earlier was justified because thats how I felt about the school but a little premature. I still do believe that how the school treats their staff is not always 100%, but I made the mistake of acting before I thought regarding a certain situation and I am sorry for that. I would like to say again that ASB is an amazing school, but like everything it has its small problems (hopefully problems that can be fixed with the schools new principal), but still and outstanding school. I am now a Sophomore at Seattle Prep and I dont know where I would be without the solid educational, social, and spiritual foundation that ASB gave me. GO BULLDOGS

This is our 7th year as part of the ASB community and it continues to be an incredible environment for our two kids - both academically and socially. From science club, coding club, math club to CYO sports, the Halloween Carnival, band, music concerts, ski bus - there have always been enrichment opportunities they have enjoyed and benefitted from each year. Our son transitioned into ASB as a second grader and it couldnt have been a better experience for him AND us. His classmates and teachers made him feel welcome and he was immediately comfortable (incredible). The teachers are passionate and really care about the development of the whole child. The community of parents has created a safe and supportive environment for our children to grow and continue to gain independence.

I attended ASB from kindergarten through to 8th grade (95-04) and can wholeheartedly say that what I learned in those formative years has shaped me into the career-driven, caring person that I am today. The teachers are the heart of this school; their passion is shown in the way that each student is treated. Specifically, Jeanette Hurley, who taught my first grade class, sparked my love of reading and writing. I owe a lot to Mrs. Hurley for my early development in understanding the key components of story telling. My two siblings, who were also her students after and before me, would 100% agree. Some of my favorite memories are when she would read to the class during lunch - she would be so animated in the way that she would tell the story, emulating different characters and scanning the room to keep us engaged & elated at every twist and turn.To a room full of 60 restless first graders, she certainly knew how to keep everyones attention and peak our interest in reading. When I have children, I hope that I can engage them in the same way that she can. As any parent could understand, inciting genuine belief and creative thought in children is often times a very difficult task. The faculty at ASB and Mrs. Hurley taught me the techniques to keep in mind through my adult life.Throughout the years at ASB, I could always count on her to say hello to me in the hallway with a big smile - on the days where I needed it. Its teachers like these that leave a lasting memory on young students and drive a curious hunger for learning.

Unfortunately my family did not have a good experience at ASB. We ended up pulling our kids out of the school due to a number of reasons including academics, safety, and conditions and quality of the facility.
