Nina and Coach Sheep are amazing. My daughter had so much fun. I highly recommend “Kong Academy.” They make sure the kids are all well taken care of. The kids have plenty of water, they make sure the kiddos all have sunscreen that’s from home and parents approved. They are all about keeping our children safe. Since it was such a hot day today they made sure the kids were simply having fun with water sports (water balloon toss) and mellow activities. For the parents - Great ideas freeze one water bottle and keep another water bottle in the fridge. This way the frozen water bottle will last all day and the refrigerated water bottle can be drank through out the morning. We also packed plenty of fruit and protein for days like these. The PNW is NOT prepared for the intense heat so I’m a firm believer it’s a parents responsibility to make sure our children have everything they need. Water. Food. Sunscreen. Change of clothes. Swimsuit. Towels. Waterproof light wearing hat. I did forget to bring a hair tie for my kiddo. These camp counselors/coaches were so welcoming, fun and responsible that I highly recommend “Kong Academy” to everyone. 😊💕

Our six year old just finished a week of Kong Academy Camp and absolutely loved it. We were a little concerned on day 1 since it was his first time away from us in literally 15 months, but the camp was well organized, the staff was super friendly and helpful, and Lev’s counselor, Rose, was kind, patient, and a lot of fun. I am so grateful that our son had a good experience and was absolutely exhausted at the end of every day. I really wish we had signed him up for more weeks. 100% worth it.

The coaches were great - adaptable to changing weather and circumstances. I was surprised by their level of skill in Parkour - they were really good! I was especially pleased with the emphasis on team building skills and empathy. My kids sometimes whine about camps but they loved this one. Thanks!

Kong Academy was amazing! My son had so much fun at summer camp and actually learned a lot. The teachers we had specifically were Lauren and Jay. All of the teachers were great though! I also had experience with Kurt Jordan, the owner. Hes great at what he does and actually cares.

My 7 year old daughter had a fabulous time at Parkour! She said her coach Philip is very good, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Different games everyday, she had a ball! I will definitely book earlier next year, so she could have two weeks instead of one.

My 8yo loved his Kong Academy camp at Carkeek. It’s great when he comes home pretty wiped out from an adventurous, outdoor, physical day. Every night he was telling us about his day and wanting to go back.On top of this, I’m super impressed with Kong Academy. During Heat Wave-mageddon 2021 they did NOT cancel camp and they assured everyone that they had a plan. My kid went all day, no complaints, and I was super appreciative that Kong made the changes they needed to make instead of canceling. Kudos!

Im a little disappointed that classes are going forward in all-time record breaking 100+ degree weather outside this week. After this, it makes me wonder if they take the safety of our kids seriously and how they even treat their own instructors. Its absolutely unsafe for anyone to be out in this type of weather. I feel like theyre afraid to lose a couple dollars instead of moving a couple classes (or at least give future credit) to another date. Kinda shameful.

So patient, caring, and did I mention patient? Thank you, Kong Academy! Our 6-year-old came home happy and physically exhausted every day, not to mention admirably dirty from sheer play. We loved it!

My 6 yr old son LOVED the Parkour camp at Phinney!! He’s asked to go back every week for the rest of summer. He loved finding new ways to explore the built environment with his honed physical skills. The theme of camp “being together, building relationships” also shone through in each day’s messaging and activities. My son now has our family doing the “We start together. We finish together. We help each other. We are a team. Parkour!” chant. As a parent I really appreciated Kong Academy’s timely and thoughtful email communications in advance and during the week of camp. Our first day was the hottest day on record in Seattle, and instead of simply cancelling camp, the Kong team pivoted to offer a modified safe and fun camp for the kids. My son came home happy and very healthy (something I can’t say for my older son at a different camp). I was impressed with the preparation and training they had for their staff to successfully navigate through an exceedingly hot day. I was also impressed with the reasoning for keeping camp open: Kong wanted to accommodate families who needed childcare, especially with the knowledge that many kids in the community didn’t have an alternative cool, safe space to be in the heat. For those parents who choose to keep their children home (and for those of us who did send our kids), Kong has offered a free “make up” session. This is on a Saturday so that parents can enjoy some free time and the kids can reunite with camp buddies.I am very impressed with the staff and this organization’s mission and values. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Kong Academy is a highly skilled team of parkour athletes who provide meaningful skills and experiences for young people. Through their expert guidance in both parkour skill development and group facilitation, they provide quality, enriching classes/camps. Inviting children to move through their environment in unique ways and connect with objects helps them with their creativity and problem solving techniques. This is more than exercise; it’s discipline, self reflection, skill development, learning to assess risk, peer support and much more! I highly recommend as someone who has worked alongside KA to provide parkour classes for hundreds of students at my school and as an aunt of a very happy 8 year old who just finished his week long camp with Curt.

My 7yo (will be 8yo in two months) had a fabulous time at Kong Academys Parkour Summer Camp at Carkeek Park in June 2021! I was out of town that week, so I didnt get detailed daily reports, but every time I talked to him he told me how much fun he had that day. They got to run/jump all over, learned some basic parkour moves (not sure if the older kids did more advanced stuff, but my kiddo was doing stuff like jumps and spins, nothing dangerous like flips), and also did stuff like capture the flag and other games. He definitely wants to go back next summer!

This was my kids first ever summer camp and we were coming off of 6 weeks of unstructured lake time and he LOVED it. He was pretty nervous to walk into a group not knowing anyone and Coach Kurt and all the staff made him feel super comfortable. He came home tired and full of stories about adventures but also talked a lot about teamwork, respect, and communication. We will definitely be back and recommend this camp.

We have been working with Kong Academy for a few years now. They provide parkour classes after school at my daughters school, and she did a summer camp with them this summer. What I like most about them is the level of quality of their instructors. These are not a bunch of teens at their first job; these are great instructors who know what they are doing, have a safety focus, and are able to manage a group of kids at different levels emotionally and physically. Communication is timely and professional. I highly recommend this company; we have been so pleased with them thus far, and our daughter has a blast.

My son said the only time he has ever been sad to see me in his entire life was when I would come to pick him up from parkour camp with Kong Academy. ha! We were first introduced to KA through afterschool programs at Elementary school, then followed through with summer camp and then online parkour classes during the pandemic. These folks understand the mind body connection and the importance of play for developing minds (and even us old folks developed minds!). Their ability to transition and evolve during the pandemic was top notch compared to any other entity I have engaged with (thats school, work, hobby, everything). These are teachers and practitioners that dont turn over. They retain their members too. The teachers are consistent and compassionate. I have gotten to know their faces and their personalities and lives over the years, and there isnt an entity I trust my kids with more. Thank you, Kong Academy!

The kids (and adults) that engage in Kong Academys classes are each met where they are as movers and build on their skills while the Kong coaches cleverly instill social and emotional learning (SEL) and executive function learning into every class. Kong Academy is part of building a better Puget Sound community.

“When watching my kids take a parkour lesson recently, I overheard a kid whisper to himself, I cant do this. Curt caught earshot of this. He stopped the exercise, and talked about not using the C word. Yes, you can do this. Yes, you are doing this. Yes, you are getting better. Then on with the exercise. No drama, just straight love-talk.”

You don’t need to sell your kids on Kong Academy because they want to do it. The instructors there can turn anywhere in Seattle into a parkour playground that is safe and adaptable to any skill level. Children and teens spend so much time in the classroom, bolted down to the floors in their desks, so a program like this is not only refreshing, but needed. To play is instinctual and Kong Academy taps into that, but also builds focus, coordination, and spatial awareness. It also doesn’t hurt that they tire your kids out just in time for dinner and bed ;) On top of that, Kong Academy does it to build community and brings access to the lovely art of parkour to those that may not usually have access to it.

As an older adult, I learned a tremendous amount from Curt Jordan. After suffering a serious injury, he helped me come back to parkour through a combination of physical therapy and fun, motivational movements. Im impressed with the vision he brings to Kong Academy. Movement is for everyone, and can be used to teach life skills to people of all ages. Kong Academy is doing this.

Hooray for Kong Academy and the wonderful people who run it and teach folks of all ages and abilities to enjoy movement! Each class is unique, challenging yet adaptable, and most importantly, fun! I am always impressed by the creative ways Curt gamifies movement and by the supportive and encouraging community he and the other instructors have cultivated. I would highly recommend Kong Academy classes and meetups -- find a class that fits your age and level and release your inner child (and/or your actual child) with other delightful humans!

Dishonorable founder Curt is petulant and vengeful so I dont recommend that you send your kids to him! Nothing good will come from them being exposed to his personality.
