This was our first year at Wallingford Co-op and we enjoyed it greatly! We participated in the Pre3s class (2-3 year olds) with Teacher Kerri. She is fantastic with the children-fun, kind and empathetic yet teaches boundaries, creative in all the activities she plans, and helps them in the moment with building social skills and emotional intelligence. The facility is bright, spacious and has areas for blocks, art, dramatic play, gross motor play/games and tables for sensory play, playdough, fine motor games, etc. The kids also love the giant outdoor play structure, sandbox and bikes and scooters. The school is play-based, so the kids are self-directed (with teacher and parent assistance as needed) in choosing which areas they want to play in for the first part of class. We then have circle time (books, music, songs), snack time (in small groups, family style to promote relationship building), outdoor time, then a closing circle time (bubbles and songs). My child has made friends and so have I! The great thing about Co-op is participating in and modeling learning (really more, playing!) with your child and building community. We also have monthly Parent Education meetings to learn more on various parenting topics from a North Seattle College Educator, as well as just share whats going on with our kids and help each other out. I highly recommend the school! So many great benefits for your kid and entire family. We look forward to continuing next year.
