Wish I could give - stars. Didn’t think to inform me that the start date is way late and zero concern about the lack of communication. This whole state is horrible with communication and professionalism. Not going to even get into how quick they can send a withdrawal form but the enrollment process is like the documentation to get to dosage and they don’t tell you anything. Useless! Completely utterly useless!!!

Don’t bother enrolling. I am a 20 year old full time employee living on my own, just trying to make up two credits to graduate. Ohdela staff has made this whole experience extremely difficult. My classes are missing units and lessons, I am learning one subject and getting tested on a whole other topic without learning it. I have found it extremely difficult to contact teachers, I have been laughed at by staff. Further more I am unable to do any of my two classes because the test and units/lessons are mixed up or missing. But then I’m told I can still continue…when obviously I can’t. Also they expect you to do projects even when your in credit recovery, knowing that I work full time and have other things going on outside of work. This place is a joke.

They held test from being completed to the point that the school year was over and had the semester exam still missing and everytime I asked him if I could do it he would respond with a rude answer and would tell me I should have done better on the other test and at the end of my 10th grade and been a student for 3 years they proceeded to tell me I was supposed to be in the 9th and told me that if I went back to their school I was required to take the 9th grade again and that year I just took was worth nothing and that it was a waste of my time

Do yourself a favor and contact K12 if you want to homeschool online. The workload this school places on kids is unreal. My kids did school from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm basically daily and still couldn’t keep up.The teachers do not respond to emails or messages. They don’t work with the kids. You don’t hear from them until crunch time when it’s going to look bad on them and then they are short and snippy and place all blame on the students. My son was almost expelled for something he didn’t even do. We proved he wasn’t responsible and when they found out it was another child doing this under his name, the boy wasn’t even suspended. Didn’t even get in trouble! Meanwhile my son was yelled at and threatened over the phone by the student advisor. My daughter is a senior this year and has had an insane year thanks to them lying on all her transcripts. Tell me, ohdela, how does a student supposedly fail three years of high school in a row, yet you all passed her to move on to the next grade each year? She has had to do three years of credit recovery on top of her senior year work to graduate on time. The principals (there’s a new one almost every year) will always side with the teachers. I don’t care if you show email and text messages proving your child’s side, they will side with teachers. If you’re in Ohio, contact K12 and go with OHVA. The teachers are amazing, the staff and principal are amazing. If you contact them, you will have an email or a phone call within 20 minutes. They work with and for the families vs against.

I was in ohdela years ago. Their version of credits and Ohio public schools version of credits seem very different so if u go here make sure u graduate because if u decide to switch to another learning institution everything you did at this school does not count for anything. You will have wasted three years and have to start over in the 9th grade at some alternative school. Its a trap watch out!

The teachers were amazing but that was the only thing good about that school. As a student I felt that it was NOT a good learning environment, and to be honest it didn’t even feel like a school! The only reason I even went to public school was because of my anxiety and it didn’t even help me, the grading was way way way behind YOU THINK YOUR FAILING ALL YOUR CLASSES when you are really not! I am an A&B student! Then the end of the grading period comes then you have A’s it is so confusing, inconvenient, and worry some! Also you get piled with work, more than high school which I am in now! Also tons and I mean tons of tech issues sometimes you could even go to class at least 3 times a week Instead of helping my anxiety it made it worse! DONT GO TO THIS SCHOOL! (Save yourself the stress) I apologize for giving this school a bad wrap but I speak truth.

With Covid dictating what all of our lives look like these days, I chose Odella to be our homeschool. After processing the original registration, every communication after that was late, poor information, and/ or irrelevant to me. Withdrawal has been a nightmare. I originally thought that an online school would be better organized. Not so. I sent the withdrawal form in on September 3 and they are still sending child absent emails to me 8 days later. After withdrawing, I was sent an email to return a computer that I never even received. Very disturbing that they don’t even know they haven’t sent us a computer. We have been enrolled in our local school district from the beginning of the school year. Our local school district has been outstanding in both home and in school education. Ohdela has nothing on our local schools.

Run!!! I literally mean run as far as you can away from this school. I wish someone would have said this to me and shared honest information about this program. This school will stress you and your child/ren. Children will constantly feel like they can not keep up with their workload. This is from kindergarten all the way up. Grades fluate nearly from day to day. Your child may have A one day and the next a D from missing one assignment from just one class. While your child/ren will likely have 5 classes and at least 3+ assignments daily from each class. The work load is atrocious and Im being a hundred percent serious. If your even considering this school be prepared to have to log work and hours constantly and take pictures for their homework daily or weekly in order to not get lost in the mountain of work. Your child/ren will need your help all throughout the day if they are to pass with a decent grade. You are better off not using the school computer because that is a nightmare. While using the school computer you can not connect to a printer, you can not send outside emails to your child. You will have to use the school computer camera to take pictures of homework, and at the same time trying to use the mousepad on the computer to write for some assignments because its not a touchscreen computer nor is there an option to connect to a mouse. Just run! I do not know about other programs online but I would advise looking elsewhere. You will be disappointed with Ohdela and your children will feel defeated because of the workload.

I placed my children in Ohdela because I assumed an online learning school would be more organized and equipped for teaching online during this pandemic than their brick a mortar school. Ohdela was overwhelmed with too many new students because of the same reason we enrolled. The teachers were nice and taught well but were completely behind on grades. We checked grades daily and up until the day before the quarter ended they had nothing under a C. The next day Fs. They were expected to do work from the beginning of the quarter when they were at their other school. They had zeros that were never changed to excused because they werent there. They waited a month to get their Chromebooks. Assignments would say graded/ completed in one location and not turned in 0 in another making it nearly impossible to know what was done and what needed done. They never received their report cards. Grades sent back to their brick and mortar school were incomplete. There is no talking to a person unless youre enrolling. I was supposed to get return stickers for the Chromebooks weeks ago but nothing expect an email telling me to return the Chromebooks. Communication is awful. Engagement coaches are a nice idea but they dont return calls or know how to answer questions. Overall bad experience.

AVOID AT ALL COST. THIS SCHOOL SEEMS LIKE A SCAM. My friend is struggling to understand how an online school thats been open for a few years dropped the ball this year. Unorganized teachers, he has to print extra things that should have been included in the workbooks, one kids teacher is rude, another kid was switched unannounced from a great teacher to another and the new teacher has nothing ready. The kid with the rude teacher is supposed to have an IEP, with special needs, the school REFUSES to accept any of it even with previous school and 2 years of diagnosis. This same teacher also changes the schedule daily or weekly. My friend said its hard enough that his 4 kids have different schedules, he cant get them on the same lunch or break schedule so when one kid has a break it distracts the other kids.

All three of my daughters graduated through OHDELA. My youngest went all four years of high school. The program is excellent if the parent is willing to supervise. The majority of my childrens teachers were fantastic - well prepared, knowledgeable and concerned about student progress. They called regularly to talk to my students. When I read comments about the teachers being unavailable, I just cant believe it. I know that my daughters teachers were habitual in their check-in phone calls and were always responsive to emails.

My daughters both attend this school. They are both doing very well, surpassing expectations. My oldest is diagnosed with tourette syndrome in which our local schools, both private and public are insufficient to adapt to her needs, weve tried everything. However, being able to school at home, with me not having to find a curriculum myself, is completely possible thanks to OHDELA. Her teachers are incredible, helpful and always available. They respond in good time are are always seeking to teach her the way she needs taught. I enrolled my kindergartner in as well and she too is doing well. Of course I have to be by her side, but it easier this way rather than schooling alone. Could not be happier about our school of choice

My great-granddaughter has been attending Ohdela for 4 years now and, at this time, I do not see her returning to Public School. Last year, my gr-granddaughter, who I raise, had a LOT of family issues going on, in addition to the death of a close family member and the death of her very very best friend; because of this, she got WAY off track due to anxiety, depression, and stress. Her advisor, Mr. Asente, in addition to ALL of her teachers, did everything to assist her to see that she passed. She was given extra time to catch up, Mr. Asente called my great-granddaughter EVERY week (sometimes twice) to tell her what a great effort she was making and how proud he was of her. His phone calls and words of encouragement meant everything to her and she pushed on, if nothing else, to please him. Her teachers were also encouraging during this time and very understanding. They all (Mr. Asente and teachers) kept me constantly in the loop on her progress. The ones who commented on the fact they are strict are correct, but that is why I pulled her out of public school; they could have cared less about the chaos in the classroom;(when I observed her classes for 3 weeks, they spent a good 40% of the classroom teaching time, just controlling behavior.(or not). This year, my great-granddaughter was also diagnosed with ADHD, and they have again encouraged and supported us. If you need a babysitter, then I believe public school is the answer for you but, if you can work independently and complete the assignments as you are suppose too, then Ohdela is a GREAT place to be. It is also not perhaps the best choice for the parent who would rather all the teaching and behavior problems be handled by the public school system, rather than be bothered in taking part in the childs home school education (overseeing incomplete assignments, checking work, disciplining, if necessary, etc.). I checked out a number of alternative home schools before choosing Ohdela, and I can say, without a doubt or hesitation, I made the best choice for my great-granddaughter. In addition, I can tell you, she agrees with everything I have said.

She will be doing 3rd grade also until our lives settle a bit and then she may go to a brick and mortar school so that she gets that exposure as well. We like that we are reimbursed for part of our internet and that there is money for her to do extracurricular programs like music lessons or PE. We think it is a good option and have recommended it to others.
