I absolutely R A V E about the Toni & Guy Academy . for the longest time, i held myself back thinking i would never be able to attend such an accredited school. not only for “at home” reasons, but because i was on my own, how could i afford it? from the get go, they made meeting with a financial advisor an exceptional experience. Toni & Guy made my dreams of becoming a licensed professional possible! Best place for artists to express themselves. Going to school here was probably the funnest thing I’ve ever done. I was never bored here and loved to learn new things daily. My favorite part was the extra curriculum activities. From doing hair for editorial fashion shows to haircuts for the homeless, I really enjoyed my time with the Toni&Guy Albuquerque family. Starting as a student you are placed shears in your hand from the beginning for proper and precise techniques to become a successful cosmo/barber. Through out your education you have several experienced educators to help and guide you with the knowledge and skill to help be productive and achieve the best outcome for you and your client. All of this is learned in the classroom and on the floor with your clients. Education like this is worth the investment to a better future.As I was nearing graduation I got an opportunity to experience the Toni&Guy salon and knew that this is were I would start my journey as a stylist, through a selective process only a few student become stylist at the salon.In return the Toni&Guy company as created great educational system to be successful and career openings in various ways to be successful!

I attended the Toni&Guy Esthetics program from November 2020 to April 2021. In short, my absolute favorite part of the program was my instructor, Eryn Messina. Eryn always talks about cultivating lives, futures and careers, and that is truly what she did for me at Toni&Guy! In regards to the school itself, the online experience due to Covid-19 was great for me personally! I really enjoyed using the Cengage program and felt that it properly prepared me in regards to theory along with my instructor! In person, we have so many opportunities to work on clients at the school and learn hands on from our instructor, which I thoroughly enjoyed! We also got to use the Dermalogica line for our kits, which is a great line to start learning on and we got to gain experience on equipment that every esthetician uses today. I would recommend the Toni&Guy Esthetics program to anyone considering esthetics located here in Albuquerque.

The students and staff were all very friendly and professional. I always loved how my hair looked after a visit. The salon and waiting area were always clean and my experience was always enjoyable.

I can only speak as a student consumer. This school is not worth your mental health. The second I started asking for documentation like item breakdowns and student ledgers I was getting the run around, than I started making demands for these documents students should have access to. They provided contradictory information constantly. When I started asking more questions and asking for more documents I was send an unsolicited email from the owner of the school. When I wouldn’t let him placate me, he claimed that all the documents I’m asking for where already provided, so provide them again! It’s your job. When I was apprehensive to meet with the owner ALONE, I provided him with accommodation that would make me feel SAFE meeting the owner in person to discuss these issues, he refused to meet under safe conditions and he decided to stop my education, they have been holding my education hostage for over two weeks now! They have not released me as a student so that I can transfer to another school. It’s been over two weeks and they won’t return my emails so I can get this information from them. I highly suggest that anyone looking into this school, take the bad reviews seriously because their experience was my experience. The owner is a direct reflection of everything that is wrong with our current social climate. EAT THE RICH!

I recently graduated from Toni&Guy and I couldn’t be any more happier with the education I received. I am so lucky to have been able to have Eryn as my instructor. She is an amazing instructor I learned so much from her!!! I would definitely recommend the school to anyone who is looking into becoming an aesthetician.

The worst of the worst.The owner of this place and rude, and will change your hours and say you owe thousands of dollars in order to get your certificate to take your state boards. The teachers are so rude and treat you like trash. I went here and “graduated” they refused to give me my license to go take state..This is not a “false review” I was a student here.

I was looking to attend this beauty school, and remembered my uncle went to this Toni and guy academy. He told me about how awful the owner is and how unprofessional/uneducated the staff is! He said how they’re always cutting budgets/corners and only allowed to practice with color on manikins dolls once before working with real clients. From the sound of all that I completely changed my mind on attending. We have nothing but time, and I choose not to waist any on this school. Also I hear they like to flaunt on how there soo award winning, but trust me it’s vastly over rated, I think they throw all that out there with the awards to try and cover up all the messed up stuff they put people threw. Also something that scared me is that if you use student aide they try telling you give them your overage check, or they’ll hold your kit/ shears/ clippers and dryers. I don’t really care how award winning this particular academy is supposed to be, but I was highly advised not to go here by my own family!P.S - This is the second time I’m posting this, first one got taken down, I guess it was to raw and real for you tony and guy but I’m posting again. You think you can just get rid of me that easy? Lol

I attended Toni&Guy 2011/12. My education was exceptional on every level. I researched many schools that were in Albuquerque as well as in LA. The level of Education that I was looking for was priority, however every aspect of the schools were important to me as well. philanthropy, Community involvement, the companys business ethos-all very important to me.Every person who decides to put your hard-earned money into your education should do your homework... I did mine.. I could have gone to school in LA but I chose to stay local. I could have gone to numerous other schools and truly Toni&Guy Hairdressing Academy had everything I was looking for.My classes were in depth, challenging and fun. I had amazing instructors that are still mentors to me today.. I know I could reach out to anyone of them and that they would not turn me away. I have reached out to them throughout the years to seek their counsel.. as well as to the owner Mr. LiRosi.. And he has always responded to my questions and concerns about the industry and being in business..In fact..,In 2017, I went into business with one of my best friends. We started a small salon. Unfortunately, in that time we have been broken into three times, two attempted burglaries... And the last two of those break-ins were within weeks of eachother in 2018. We were devastated between the two we were stripped of thousands of dollars in tools and product. We thought we would have to close our business.. Our community of friends came together for us. Including Toni&Guy! Mr. LiRosi reached out to me and Donated an entire student kit to me.. Through his kindness and generosity, I was able to keep working and as a result keep our doors open..My business partner and I have always tried to give back to our community, families and our friends. Paying it forward.. Its that kind of culture in mind that we opened our small business.. And moving forward our legacy.

I just graduated from the esthetics program at Toni & Guy. I personally had a wonderful experience. It was difficult because of covid and having to distance learn for a good majority of it but my instructor made it all worth it. I have never seen or had an instructor be so invested in the success of their students. Eryn was absolutely amazing. I learned so much from her and she made me love this career more and more each and every day. The school is also very clean and the staff and students are taking all precautions when it comes to sanitation. Overall I am very pleased with my experience and wouldn’t have wanted to get my education anywhere else.

I graduated from Toni & Guy Academy as an Aesthetician, I now own Vendresca Aesthetics! In February 2021 I was involved in a horrible accident and Joe LiRosi with Toni & Guy Academy found me some volunteers to work with me so that I could continue to work, I will be forever grateful to Joe and his students, thank you for helping this small business owner stay in business.

I just graduated from the Esthetician program, and although covid made it some what difficult, my instructor Eryn made everything worth it. She goes above and beyond for her students and pushed us to be our best. I dont think I could have gotten through the program without her as an instructor. This isnt just a job for her, she truly does it for the benefit of us students to help build our foundation and start us off in the right path to succeed.

Unprofessional And Disrespectful I Went In To Ask About Their Program And Pricing And The Lady At The Front Told Me That I Didnt Fit The Part To Be In Their Prestigious School And That I Should Wear Proper Shoes Because Sandles Were For Homeless People I Dont Know If She Was Having A Bad Day But Thats No Way To Talk To PAYING CUSTOMERS

I had a wonderful experience. From the moment I walked in till the moment I left, I was taken very well care of. All staff that I interacted with was very kind and professional. My stylist was Orchid and she was so GREAT! She was very professional and kind and made sure that I was comfortable and happy with my hair all the way through. Not to Hermention, she was great conversation instructorwhich for me, is always a plus. was also great, I wish I could remember her name...she was laid back but professional and checked on her often.I will definitely be returning!!

We went to the wedding revue at Isleta casino on January 5 2020 and we were totally ignored by the girls who were sitting at the table. We signed in anyway and waited, but they took 2 people in front of us. I let them know we were next in line and all they said was sorry and didnt even bother to take us next. ** WE WILL NOT be calling your company for any of our business.**

The positivity and the vibe is amazing, being able to come to this academy is worth wild. The experience and the knowledge you learn here is gonna take you far. When I first walked in to the school, I was taken back by how beautiful the facility was. The students seemed really eager to learn and happy to be there. The instructors were always more than willing to help students with questions or concerns that they might have. Loved the atmosphere, and would totally go back!

As a student who is almost finished with the program, I know the ups and downs of the school and I have to say its so worth it to come here whether you would like to learn or get your hair done! The instructors are very experienced and willing to help with tips and guidance throughout the program, truly preparing you for a successful future. Plus the atmosphere is bright and energetic, everyone is super welcoming and kind.

First hand attending this school, my experience was awful. Only two teachers out of the whole lot actually knew what they were talking about! I actually saw students being hired as instructors, right after graduating from school!! I wish I never enrolled at toni&guy! You’re literally just paying for the name!! For the price in my opinion it’s not worth it. I’m only writing this hoping a young person might read and not get stuck like I did...All of the experience and knowledge I know now is from being motivated by myself and learning on my own!! I’m working in a salon right now because of how hard I’ve worked, and all of the hours and hours of education I’ve invested in myself! NOT because of some “quality education”(lol obviously a joke) from Toni and guy! My certificate of graduation literally isn’t even worth the paper it’s printed on!..I’ve also never felt more disrespected and discriminated against in my life attending Toni and guy!! Having only half my hearing and being told that ‘I only ear when it’s convenient to me to me,’ still hurts my heart. If I could go back I would! Definitely not worth the headache from the staff! Even one of the only faculty members I respected came to me and told me that the other staff members were talking bad about me behind my back, how unprofessional is that!! Especially the owner. If having your hands in hair starting day one is how you want to start your career... this is the Academy for you. Focusing on cut and color... you will learn way more than a basic cosmetology education. We also do tons of events in the community.... like Santa Fe fashion week, Bridal expo, and haircuts for the homeless. In all the programs cosmetology, barbering and aesthetics we try to give a full well rounded experience. We have tons of demos from the community, and even bring in advance education to demonstrate the newest and latest trends.

Attending this academy has truly impacted my life and my entire perspective of the beauty industry. There is so many things you can do here, whether it’s hair, makeup, skin, retail.... etc etc... you really grasp so much from the time you spend here. You meet so many amazing people & the educators are fabulous, each one has their own way of teaching you. They really care for their students & your education. Go here regularly to get salon services done from highlights to haircuts for a very reasonable price! Always get great service! Love the beautiful atmosphere and friendliness of the staff/students. I went to Toni & guy for a haircut. I knew I was going to a school Which means a student will be doing my hair. When I was getting my haircut the student is still learning so she had some questions. There were many teachers there but most of them neglected their students and chose to sit instead of help. I saw many students asking for help but there was only one teacher actually involved. The teachers leave their students in the dark which ultimately lead to a long haircut. My hair looks great and the woman that cut my hair was very sweet.

Super excited to have the experience of having my hair colored!! Took over 5 hours to complete process to only have my hair come out orange after toner was applied I walked out with $80 less in my pocket and color that look as if it came out of a box. Very dissatisfied with instructors who dont seem to give enough attention to their students. Being a professional hairdresser/instructor should include more than walking with their heads cut off like a bunch of chickens drinking their Starbucks, pretending to care.Anyway I will not be returning nor will I recommend the services they lack to provide.Dont be impressed with the fancy decorated building.

Isa did a great job at removing all my split ends which is definitely what I needed. She is also incredibly informative & gave me a lot of good advice involving all the hair products they used. I’m giving 3 stars because my hair got cut a little more than I wanted. Otherwise, a good job. 👍🏼

Esperanza Rodriguez is the best! I have curly hair and no one has ever cut my hair as good as she did. She knew exactly what to do and showed me what products are good for my hair and how to style it.

Teyana has colored my hair more than once and I have been very pleased with the results each time. The occasional discount on hair color that Toni & Guy gives is also a plus. I like the fun atmosphere:)

I’ve been trying to get enrolled at Toni& Guy for August classes for over two months and it’s been the biggest pain of my life! The class I’m supposed to be in starts in less than a week and no matter how many times i call, text or email i cannot get anyone to call me back with some type of answer. It’s very obvious that they do not know what they are talking about and are not organized at all, which from what i hear is very consistent with other students experiences.

HORRIBLE PLACE. All the good reviews on here are from the students attending - SAVE YOUR HAIR AND DO NOT COME HERE!! DO NOT waste your money and time here. $75.00 for a BASE COLOR and 6 hours later, I was destroyed by my results. My natural brown beautiful undamaged hair (never dyed before) was this orange brassy color - and it had to be trimmed because of the damage they did to it. Please save your hair and DO NOT come here. I wanted to change my look before my birthday, just didnt think it would be a shity change. If I could give it NO stars, I would.

I would just like to remind those who are upset enough with the outcome of their service to write an unnecessarily poor review, that TONI&GUY Academy in ABQ is an educational facility. Therefore, supervised students are the ones performing all of the services. You are aware of this when you intentionally schedule your appt. Please be kind and understanding that your stylist is still a student and is still in the learning stages of this profession. While the students appreciate the opportunity to practice and perform treatments on the public, it it unfair to shame them when the result doesnt come out perfect.

Just got my hair colored by Cassidy A who did an amazing job, even blow dried my very curly hair with amazing results. Reverse ombre from my natural red hair to red, then purple, then black. So happy with the results!! Thank you!

Des did a wonderful job cutting my curls. She took the time to make sure they fell evenly and wouldn’t be too short when it was dry.

If a student asks you to be a hair model, be aware, it is costly. (Aveda does not charge the hair model and the students have many more hours of learning, before they are on the floor.)I had to pay $120.00! If I would have known ahead of time, I would not have done it.I was told I would just have to pay for the product and would be $25.00 and up. Not the students fault, but seems like a racket!The student pays the school and the model pays the school. Not right.

I am currently a starting Freshman at Toni & Guy and I am loving it. On my first day i was cutting hair and on my second I was doing my first highlights. I am in love with this program!

I wish I could be giving you a star rating based on actual services given. I have tried calling your Albuquerque, New Mexico - location 4 TIMES during regular buisness hours, on different days! (2201 Uptown Loop Rd NE Ste F, Albuquerque, NM 87110) to try and make an appointment. I even tried calling outside of the front door to see what would happen and sure enough, the young women at the reception in the front did not pick up the phone. I could clearly see her through the glass, yet she left it to go to voicemail. I left a voicemail and I am still waiting for a phone call to be returned. This is terrible customer service!

My Fiance was attending as a student to be an esthetician. She almost graduated, but unfortunately due to her mishaps, she passed away. Thanks for being such a great instructor Ann Marie and a special thanks to her fellow classmates that knew Brittany well. RIP Brittany Lauren Madrid.

Got a haircut from one of there “senior “ barber students and it came awful. The cut took a little over an hour and half and I had so much powder on the back of my neck and shirt, it looked like I got in a fight with a bag flour. I would definitely not recommend.

Today I had a facial at Toni and Guy with Breann Spargo. I have had many facials in my time, but this one is top notch! Very professional and so knowledgeable....she nearly put me in a deep sleep! I did not want it to end! I would highly recommend to everyone to get a facial with Breann. You will thank me after Im sure. 5 star service for sure. Thank you Breann! I will be coming back!!!!

I am currently going to school here for the Cosmetology program. If youre looking for a good school to get in for cosmo, barbering an esthiology than come here! The whole school treats you as if youre apart of a family and soon you become apart of the family. I love all of the events that we do, it puts us out in the field to get our career started. You start cutting immediately and you still learn and do book work as well. The education here is wonderful and you have so much help from all of the instructors. There are different things to do about tuition and they definitely do help you in any possible way that they can.

Just started school this month and have been loving every minute of it!! Constantly leaning! My first week I already did a hair cut and high lights!

It has been over a year since my child completed the Academy and has not received their certificate, a bill, invoice, anything...they are unresponsive to all attempts to contact them regarding this, and very rude. Their financial aid office and owner are quick to take your tuition, but do not care about you after you graduate. If you owe any Fees they fail to provide the student with invoices or bills, yet hold the certificate hostage. They are just after the tuition. Watch this Academy, they have complaints with DOE and BBB!!!

They’ve taught me something new everyday and really supported and encouraged me in my journey. I do NOT recommend!!! I am NOT student - and most reviews (good ones) are from students- here’s my experience: spent 5 hours for a BASE color- I had blonde hair, went for a brown ash color- ended up up with brown roots, black and red tips and damaged hair. If you want to be someone’s Guinea Pig, spend WAY too much time (and MONEY) for a simple procedure, you could probably do better yourself or buy in a box at Walmart or Walgreens, don’t come here. I saw this poor woman (who had been there 4 hours before) still being worked on AFTER I was done and she was only there for highlights, someone else ended up having to help the student finish. Just an overall bad experience.

I appreciate the efforts of the receptionist to squeeze me in. My cut/stylist did a fabulous job in transforming my neglected hair. I will return.

As a student who recently withdrew, i can say they have amazing skills, curriculum and tools however theyre just not quite there yet with the environment for a learner like myself to flourish. As a freshman we werent fully challenged or directed by the instructor. Its very self motivated and self learned. Youre biggest instructor is an I-pad and your upper class men. You have to constantly remind the instructors if u need makeup work, a signature or any instruction and rarely do u get the attention you need unless youre on the floor.This is not saying all the toni and guy staff are this way, they do have some amazing people in office and some instructors truly care. However, based on my personal observation, they all dont carry the same vision or intentions for their students.1-17-19Update: they kept my student loan and financial aid, Im still getting notices from Granite State ( GSM&R) that Im reading repayment on my student loan that I never recieved for my personal expenses and Tammy doesnt return calls. Im getting no where with them. Very crooked, money hungry and vindictive.

Read the good reviews and noticed that they all were from students--That being said heres my review-- I overall was disappointed-- although I was there for 5 hours the first time and 4.5 hours the second time I was told my hair wasnt strong enough to lift to the color I originally asked for (even though I wasnt told this previously) I found out this wasnt true but still the instructor didnt allow the amazing student who did my correction to correct the portions I didnt like. She only allowed her to do the outside that was untouched. The outside halo region was the exact color I wanted it to be. After spending almost 10 hours total I wish that ALL of my hair was actually the color I wanted it to be not just the front and back. I also found out the first girl who messed up wasnt even Salon ready and that the level I paid for. One of the rude instructors also told me the type of services I was looking for ( a head full of highlights aka bleach and toner in my hair) could only be done by a professional...hummmm so why label them as salon ready? Any way Im Im thankful for the correction done semi and Jennie for listening and beign respectful just wish she would have given the ok to correct everything like I was previously told.

I scheduled an appointment for four haircuts at 9 am on a Saturday. Once we showed up, we were told that they could only see one of us. The explanation I received was that nine of their students didn’t show and they had no way of knowing until they opened. Terrible to their students and really disorganized. May look good on your resume, but honestly isnt worth it.

Had an appointment and waited 40 minutes past the appointed time then left.

I got a shave, a student there made 5 patches 3 cuts in my face and then said it was done.

I went there for Pedicure and it was horrible.

The worst hair salon. They are student they dont have any experience and their instructors are not professional at all. my hair got damaged and has no texture now.

Every time we have gone there it has been fantastik!
