Alice King has been a dream school for my kids. It is multiage, project based and follows the common core standards. This is a school that has found a way to nurture each child’s learning style to be sure each and every one understands what they are learning. The staff is incredible, my kids love going to school, and I always feel so welcome any time I drop in.

This school needs to do something about the traffic that blocks the road when school lets out. People picking up their children block through traffic. This needs to be addressed by the school so that the road isnt continually blocked. I understand people want to pick up their children in a timely manner but there are rules for a reason. Blocking traffic hurts other local businesses and can lead to accidents. Can people please show some courtesy for those of us who have appointments in the area?

The concept is good, and we were pleased with the quality of the education. However, very poor administration ruins the school. You may be able to enjoy it if you never have any personal concern to address. The moment you bring up any concern, the principal takes it as a personal offense, instead of using it as opportunity to work on problem solving. We happen to believe that most reasonable people, given the chance to talk about problems in a polite atmosphere, are able to resolve conflict in a manner to satisfy both parties. As a parent, should my child be involved in a complaint, I would like the chance to sit down and talk to the other party and listen to their concerns. The principal, however, refused to mediate a meeting to discuss a bullying issue. After months bearing with an unresolved issue (because the school was not able/willing to stop the problem), I approached the father of the other child involved. We were having a very cordial conversation when I was accosted by the principal who took sides, pointed her finger at my child, chastised me for going against her will and approaching another parent when she had already told me I was not allowed to do so (her words). The list of inappropriate behavior just goes on and on. The original problem we brought up (bullying) was many orders of magnitude smaller than the consequences of what my child has been suffering exactly because she dared complain.Thankfully, I have everything documented, and would share it with anyone interested. Please consider carefully before enrolling your child in a school not only unwilling to deal with problems, but acting in a punitive manner against those who express concerns that need to be addressed. I wish I had paid more attention to reviews of this school in other websites as it relates to poor administration.

Meh.The school was okay. The teacher was nice but the principal took everything as an offense. I was bullied my entire third grade year, i was teased for most the year and even once got a dead bug thrown into my hair. I told my teacher multiple times and nothing got resolved. School was okay. Teacher we’re good. But a lot of bullying.

Alice King has been an amazing school for our 2 children. I only wish we would have heard about this school when my daughter started Kindergarten. The teachers and faculty all really care for the children and help them so much.

My kids have been at AKCS for six years and it has been a great experience. I have easy access to teachers, and my kids have thrived with small class size, multiage classrooms, and project based learning. I like that my elementary student and middle school student are together in the same building!

I go there. It is ok even though some teachers are not so great. There is a great curriculum and little to no bullying but the constant hypocrisy from some teachers is no bueno. Overall if teachers like you you’ll do great but if they have it out for you have fun.Though it sounds bad it’s an ok school but some e.a.s can be very rude to parents and students just warning you

Our daughter is now on her seventh year at AKCS. She is a very happy sixth grader and we are very happy parents. Of the influences that shape who and what we are, teachers are second only to parents in their capacity to subtly and dramatically impress, direct, incite, arouse, instigate, and persuade us. And with AKCS we hit the jackpot. Each of our daughters teachers at AKCS - shes had four of them over the past seven years - has been very different but excellent. She has grown both academically and as a person because of the wonderful environment that is provided for her by the teachers and other staff at AKCS. As she has made her transition from each grade and into a new class, with a new teacher (although she has kept the same teachers moving through some grades as AKCS has combined grades), her needs were considered with great care to ensure that she was placed with a teacher and in an environment that would best suit her. AKCS, from the teachers to the principal to the front staff, are very responsive, open to discussion at any time, and always willing to listen.
