When my daughter got picked from the lottery to go to this school I was so excited. I thought I was set. Now all of my kids would be bilingual, get to learn the violin, have fine arts, all of the things I feel other public schools are missing. What I found was a school that communicated very poorly with us. I was reprimanded for not crossing the street correctly, followed by an email to ensure that I had heard the verbal reprimand. They never once acknowledged me in a friendly manner when I would drop off or pick up my daughter from school. I would never have guessed they knew who I was until they emailed me directly. If they cant trust me, my husband, father in law or mother in law to cross the street safely I can only imagine that my 5 year old was not given a voice. I had a meeting with the principle at which time I got to listen to him explain to me about a lot of policy stuff but never address my concerns directly. I dont actually think he heard any of my concerns and blew it off like I was just a problem parent. My 5 year old was constantly having to put her head on her desk throughout the day when other kids were misbehaving. That is incredibly frustrating for a child who is listening and trying to work hard. I waited to write this post until I moved my daughter to her new school. Today was her first day and what a difference. She was so excited, she was shocked by how nice everyone was to her, she got to make a project without any adult telling her what to make, her class got a party for being good, and most importantly, she was happy. I am so sad that she will miss out on the Spanish component of this school but the benefits definitely outweigh the loss in this case for us. My daughter is one of those really bright, listens to the teacher and does what is asked of her, tries really hard, catches on quickly kind of kids. I can only imagine being at this school with a child that is difficult to begin with. To each your own but this was our experience and I felt strongly enough to share.

This is an amazing school and the teachers and administration are incredible. I highly recommend NMIS to anyone looking for a school with high academic and ethical standards for their child

Presented as a language immersion school. Great concept but seemed to fit kinder age start, not necessarily other grades transferring in. Orientation required prior to applying so be sure to clarify they have space for the grade you need. After calling their office to say we had a 2nd grader and wanted to attend the orientation, we sat through a 2hour presentation to be told at the end that space for 2nd grade was -2. This means no space and two on wait list. They also are expanding to a larger facility which is promising, and accommodating through grade 8, which is great for those already enrolled. No student meals onsite, with a prepaid catering option, and uniforms mandatory. Presented to provide 4x art and music programs compared to APS, Arabic and Spanish languages, aikido for fitness, and art (mixed media which is cool) and violin for music.

My daughters are thriving at NMIS!! The education they are receiving is phenomenal and we have had a great experience with the leadership and administration. They fully support my daughters, who both have 504 plans. They have PE twice a week, Art twice a week, and Violin twice a week. Also, the amount of recess they get is more than APS and the other schools in the area. The teaching staff is outstanding and the IB primary years curriculum is truly better than any other curriculum Ive experienced ( I have been a teacher for ten years). We are thrilled that our daughters are fully immersed in Spanish; they know more Spanish than my husband and I combined after just a year. The education they are receiving at NMIS is better than we could have ever hoped for!

I sent my daughter here for kindergarten, and we just removed her from the school after only 3 months. The principal at this place is a salesman, and is a terrible communicator. He lacks accountability for his highly questionable decision making, and is an awful manager. Not too sure how other parents are so amazed by this institution; maybe we just didnt like the kool aid they were giving out. Caveat Emptor
