I have been dancing with Aparna Aunty for 13 years and through her academy I have learnt so much beyond just the art of Kathak. First and foremost Aparna Aunty has helped me find my passion for dance at only the age of five. I have learnt to love the beauty and grace of Kathak and how to portray this grace on stage. However, I have also learnt discipline at this academy. Though Aparna Aunty makes her dance classes enjoyable, she makes sure to keep her students are disciplined as this is also an important aspect of dance. Lastly, Aparna Aunty has shown me persistence and what 13 years of consistent practice can bring. She is very understanding of her students and is constantly looking for ways to help us. For example, she continues to teach her student even after they go to college, whether that is virtually or during breaks. This dance academy has definitely helped me grow and succeed and I loved every step of the way.

I have been dancing with Mrs. Aparna for most of my life. Aparna Auntie has been my teacher for most of my life. As a dancer, her style and talent are unmatched. I have been learning Kathak from Aparna’s Dance Academy since 2007. This dance form has become a huge component in my life. I could not have found a better teacher than Aparna Auntie to learn Kathak from. Her continuous motivation towards us has increased our dedication and perseverance. Its just been over a month since I joined Aparna Dance Academy. I like that we do serious dance most of the 60 minutes and dont waste a lot of time in chit-chat or small talk. I also like that Aparnaji knows her dance well and pays attention to the details that help you improve. I have been learning from Miss Aparna for 10 years now and this is my 11th year. I am currently a Visharad student, meaning I am in her highest level class. From a young age, I had a profound interest in dance and I was able to express that passion with her. I have seen so much growth in myself as a dancer after learning from her. I look back to my previous performances and am able to see the increased improvement in my form as well as my expressions. Not only that, I also know that my stamina has increased greatly. I remember when the simpler steps would tire me out easily; now, I am able to dance harder, fast-paced steps and keep going.Miss Aparna is a phenomenal teacher who really knows what she is doing. She is very specific when it comes to teaching steps to make sure we look our best when dancing. She is not only very serious when it comes to practicing, but also very warm and loving to her students, which is very encouraging. As a Visharad student, I sometimes have to volunteer in her classes to get the experience of teaching. In all of the times that I have gone to volunteer, I instantly realize how hard it is to teach dance, especially younger kids. Miss Aparna is really good at teaching discipline and keeping her students focused. I really admire how energetic and motivated she is when teaching, which really reflects in her students.Learning Kathak over the years has helped me realize that I want to continue to pursue dance throughout life. I am sad that I will soon graduate from school and leave the academy, but I am really thankful at the same time that I have gotten to learn from such an expert teacher. I joined Aparna’s Dance Academy when I was nine years old. I had never danced before, but Aparna ji started from the basics and now eight years later I have earned the Bhushan Diploma. I am a classically trained Bharatanatyam dancer and was looking to learn a new form. Kathak was always on my mind and luckily I found the right teacher to encourage me and to guide me on the right path. If you are dedicated and have passion to learn this dance form Aparnas academy is the place to go. Aparnaji is a wonderful teacher with great knowledge and respect for this art form. I see lots of other dance academys teach kids with dedication, but this is one place that not only teaches kids but also Adults with the same dedication and passion. I joined Aparnas Dance Academy not knowing what Kathak was at all. Kathak requires sheer discipline and hard work. My 7 year old daughter just completed 3 years with Aparna Dance Academy and I have been very happy with the progress I have seen. Having the right teacher plays a very critical part in learning any art form and I believe my daughter is getting the solid foundation she needs in her early years from Aparnaji. Aparnaji is an excellent dancer and a very dedicated teacher who ensures students stay engaged and motivated, pushes them just enough and makes sure the students practice regularly by making them accountable for it. We as parents look forward to the annual performances by the academy students and seeing the progress our kids have made live on stage. I joined Aparnajis dance class few years back and had absolutely no background in any classical dance form. Her teaching style is commendable. She taught us from basics footwork, music, taal, laya etc.Aparnaji is very technical and will focus on every detail while teaching you.She is very strict and extremely passionate which I love. She is my first dance Guru and I have learned a lot from her. If anyone wanting to have their child or themselves start with Kathak in Atlanta this is the place.I have enjoyed learning from her and she has given me good base and cultivated the passion for dance in me. I have moved now to India but I still miss and will always miss the dance class at Aparnajis.

Three years back ,I was searching for a kathak teacher for my daughter( Meher ) and did a lot of research . I am so glad that I decided to put my daughter in Aparna Dance Academy.Here the classical dance is taught by Ms.Aparna herself and she is an excellent teacher. I would say that she is very caring ,strict and make sure that the kids are responsible to practice their dance and not give lame excuses . All the kids love her and look up to her .Ms Aparna makes sure to call out kids name who have practiced and appreciate it as a result all other kids want to practice at home and get an extra praise from her. The atmosphere is her classes amazing ...she teaches kids at the same time makes sure each and every kid enjoys thus making her classes a fun for kids . My daughter looks forward to each and every class of hers and hates it if she has to miss it i.e if she is sick.Kids look forward to yearly performance and Ms. Aparna takes lot of pains with every kid to make sure they are ready n comfortable.I will conclude by saying that I couldnt have asked any better educator who is as caring and loving than Ms.Aparna.

I have been a student here since 2009, and I more than love and cherish my kathak learning experience with Aparnaji. Dance is divine, and nothing even compares to the level of joy and satisfaction a dancer feels when given the opportunity to learn from a genuinely dedicated and accomplished master. I started searching for a kathak guru years ago and found Aparnajis profile. I used to drive 4 hours on holidays/long weekends and show up for private lessons. A year later I moved closer to Atlanta and was able to join a regular class. Needless to say, I have grown and learned so much from her over the years. I especially love the technical aspect of Jaipur Gharana. There is just nothing like it. If we keep pushing and challenging ourselves, with such a sincere teacher like Aparnaji, the possibilities are endless. Its a beautiful, fulfilling journey.
