Our son has been a part of Crabapple Martial Arts Academy for a few years. We wholeheartedly recommend it - for youngsters and those more experienced. The leadership blends excellent instruction, positive leadership, and character-creating thoughtfulness in creating a warrior mentality in its students who are well schooled in the discipline, and understand that martial arts is a tool that (in some situations) is used to mitigate risk on the path towards life goals. Its also been a positive influence in teaching our son HOW to set goals and achieve them.If youre considering joining, do it. Dont waste your time thinking twice.

I signed my nine year old up for three free virtual trial martial arts classes. I was prompted to do so based off of an advertisement from Facebook. I thought it would be a nice way for my daughter to learn some extra discipline and get some energy out during this pandemic. Her first class is this evening but the excessive and inaccurate email confirmations/ correspondence have been a real headache and a discouragement. Theyve gotten names and dates wrong, and they send way too many messages. If they cant get emails right, Im not too sure how these virtual courses are going to go.I may change the review based off of how the trial period goes but so far their performance isnt looking too good. Not too sure Ill be giving them hundreds of dollars for substandard performance and communications.**Update**My interaction with the instructor during the first class went surprisingly well. However my daughter just wasnt interested in continuing the lessons. Yet and still, as you can discern from the owners response, their correspondences are just rude and unprofessional, and I wouldnt want to give that sort of environment any kind of energy. Thanks for the well wishes Mr.Matt, Im all about uplifting and encouraging one another, even when we dont see eye to eye and have differences. Much success to you and your team, and I mean that in all sincerity.

After signing up for trial virtual classes and a virtual conference with Renshi Matt, I absolutely love the program. All of the instructors were patient, pleasant and engaging. The lessons werent too difficult but it was a good workout. I even participated myself. The best part is, from the very first trial lesson they helped reinforce the very same values I teach my children at home. I definitely reccomend this place.

We love Crabapple Martial Arts Academy! Our son is thriving on so many levels (discipline, responsibility, leadership just to name a few). They have done a phenomenal job during the pandemic to keep everyone engaged and interested during virtual class and safe while in the dojo. They want to see our son succeed and want to partner with you. We highly recommend it!

My son has been attending Crabapple Martial Arts Academy for a little over a year now. We signed him up to address behavioral issues and as an outlet for all of his energy. The staff has been amazing in working with him to help control his impulses, focus, while promoting positive self esteem. When he is there I see a change in his demeanor from crazy kid to focused pupil. On the days he struggles the instructors use positive methods to redirect and praise him when he does well. Most of all my son has fun.

I come here for the boot camp and I love it! I also noticed that people who have kids are attending boot camp while their kids are doing karate. Eventually my daughter will be old enough for the karate classes and I can see this being incredibly convenient for us and a great time saver. I recommend this school for anyone looking to involve their kids in an extra curricular program that emphasizes discipline and respect along with adults who want to get in shape themselves. The teachers are very mindful of individual needs and I really look forward to class! Great school!

2 of my kids are current students here and we cannot speak highly enough about our experience so far. In the 5 months that we have been a part of the Crabapple Martial Arts Academy family we have already seen growth in both kids not only in their physical skills, but also in their confidence and character. We love that this dojo encourages abilities both on and off the mat, in working hard and giving your best effort, to leadership, healthy eating, reading, helping around the house and learning to see the needs of others. Its a great feeling to know that there are other adults that are pushing and encouraging my children to grow in the areas that we as their parents are also instilling at home. It really does take a village, and we are honored to be a part of this one!(picture is from my oldests first opportunity to break a board! It was so meaningful to her that she commemorated it with a drawing!)

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. I was in an emotionally dark place, looking for something to pull me up from where I was, and bam. Crabapple MA opened up right next to work. It was literally a blessing. Since I started almost a year ago, I have grown so much as a person. Our Senseis are some of the most amazing instructors, and truly care about your progress, not only in class but in your daily life. Every student is there to learn and have fun, and we all mesh so well. I look forward to going to class every day that I can. Its tough, but it pushes us to go farther and be confident that we can succeed if we put our mind to it. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants their lives to be changed for the better!!!

Place is great. Staff is super friendly, and extremely focused on how to best help the students. You get very personalized attention - something I found missing in other martial arts schools. Im impressed with Sensei Matts method of teaching the kids. They learn that fun, manners, and respect can go together. My son has a blast and cannot wait to go. He has dramatically improved self-control, focus, and a can do attitude. Not only that but kids actually have to earn (rather than pay $) their belts. Really - my son (9) told me that at his old Dojo he knew he’d just get his belt…..at this Dojo he has to work to get it. Big deal in teaching kids you have to work for things, they just don’t come to you. Oh, BTW he is proud of having to earn it (greatly improved self esteem). Love the place. Highly recommended.

I have been training here for 8 going on 9 months. My family members have noticed a dramatic change in my discipline and confidence. The things I have learned from the Senseis is truly amazing. I complete enjoy going and interacting with everyone there. When I show up early I get to see the kids practice and I have even noticed them becoming better at what they are trying to do and better children all around. This place is wonderful, with great teachers who take the time to address your issues with a technique and strive to help you fix these issues. I have personally recommended friends to this establishment and I completely recommend it for anyone who wants to try something new, better themselves mentally and pyshically, or wants to do something that they thought they couldnt. Truly a great place. I thank them for everything theyve shown me so far and look forward to more challenges

Sensei Matt has been working with me and my kids for several years now. He is truly amazing. He has the ability to reach everyone where they are, physically, mentally, and emotionally, and help us move beyond our status quo to achieve things we never dreamed we could do. He is patient but firm, and will not take “no” or “can’t” for answers. He accepts “I’ll try” and applauds the effort, always continuing to encourage constant forward progress to get his students to the next level. His own cross discipline training adds a depth of knowledge to his instruction that puts things in proper perspective, helping us to see the practical applications of what we’re learning. I highly recommend Sensei Matt White and Crabapple Martial Arts, to anyone wishing to begin, or continue their journey in the martial arts.

If you want to pay your way to get a black belt before your kid turns 10... if you like your kid try everything for 2 months and get a trophy off every single one of them... if you want to wrap your kid in everything you do is the best and no one can say anything else to you bubble, then this place may not be for you.Otherwise, this is a great place! You got great sensei with great skill and great attention to how the students are learning. You are not just learning how to chop a board but the very fundamentals of why youd learn it yet never eager to use it. You improves... nobodys perfect... and sensei iterates with you.Ive brought my kids to other martial art place nearby and some of them Id call them a joke. Here sensei Matt actually keeps an eye on your kid AFTER they walked out of the door and crossing the road; that shows how much he cares for his students not just the tuition fee.

Ive been training here for almost 2 months now in the Adult Jiu-Jitsu program. I was taking Brazilian JJ before, and I must say the lessons here will make one a much more complete fighter. The facility is clean and safe, and the instructors are pros. Its a friendly, respectful environment. Ive also watched them work with the kids before my class starts. Really impressed with the natural teaching ability of Senseis Matt and Randy for the little warriors.

I have tried to expose my son, who has special needs, to many sports but he has always left them feeling poorly about himself because of his inability to keep up with his peers. Sometimes this has also resulted in behavior problems while trying to participate in a sport. Sensei Matt worked with me before my son ever entered the dojo to understand my childs situation and to prepare for my sons first experiences with karate. Sensei Matt will work with my son privately as well as in the group setting depending on my sons current situation. He is consistent with his high expectations for my son and holds him accountable for his actions in a fair and respectful way while also being fun and approachable. My son ends every session with a Sensei hug and clearly loves and appreciates his teacher. That said, my son has been very challenged in the dojo both physically and emotionally...in all the best ways. If I could duplicate this at home 24/7 my son would be in a very good place. I do my best and watch Sensei Matt during his classes and try to take away tips for home. When my son eventually earns promotions he will have so much pride because it will represent his hard work.

Ive been training under Sensei White and Sensei Neese for 2 years, having trained along side them in the past. Ive had the good fortune to watch Sensei White grow from a shodan black belt in karate and jiusitsu into a great teacher who fully embodies what the martial arts are all about. He is a martial SCIENTIST, willing to continually learn and grow his own bushido spirit. He LOVES his kids and teaches them to work hard, helping them build and understand the value of discipline, awareness, control, respect and focus while they are on the mat. He is considerate of each and every student based upon the level of work the put in as well as their own strengths and limitations. A karate or jiujitsu belt earned at Crabapple Martial Arts is just that, EARNED, providing the student with self-confidence in their abilities and their potential. It really does prepare kids (and adults, too!) for real life.

Sensei Matt has been teaching my family for over five years. Both my wife (who has worked very hard to earn her black belt) and my children have benefited immensely from Sensei Matts teaching over the years. This is not a belt mill. In this discipline, you will not be promoted just for attending, you will work and earn your belts. It will be a challenge that will contribute to your or your childs confidence, self-esteem and ability to defend his or herself should the need arise. Sensei Matts ability to incorporate discipline, skill and fun for them is invaluable. For my family, the Martial Arts (and Okinawan Shuri-Ryu in particular) is more than just an activity. It is a way of life, combining physical skills, honor, integrity and loyalty that contribute to the overall growth of the individual. I would recommend Sensei Matt and his school, Crabapple Martial Arts, to any parent or adult that would like to bring more of these qualities to their or their childrens lives.
