Great staff. Im going for my brains licence and the new owners are amazingly organized and clean. New flooring just went in so things are just being put away but I am enjoying my time there and learning alot. Todays team building exercise sold me. I completely had a blast for our last fifteen minutes of laughter together.

Paid $75 for an interview and it was a waste of time. The school price increased and there’s no schedule. Waited over 30 mins to be told hello how can I help you and by a worker up front eating food with her girlfriend.Not professional and everyone just stares and is on there phone.Was told to come to this school for they were cheap and had a good rep. But I see that is not the case at all

I had my hair colored by Asher today and she did an amazing job. Touched up my roots and color corrected my byalage. Wonderful job!

Today was a great day for me I’m a cancer patient and I’ve been losing my hair my sister and I went into Academy of hair design and I proceeded to get my hair shaved by Denise wow she did such a great job!!! Meanwhile I had Ashley and wonderful woman and KK an awesome person holding my hand leaning on my shoulder and I felt so blessed to work they did was amazing!!! Then I got my Eyebrows done by Ashley and Megan and he did such a great job I love my brows!! Thank you guys for doing such a great job I will be back your top notch God bless....Karen

I went from long and depressing to short and spunky!Rahkel (sp?), did an EXCELLENT job at redesigning my look.She was so confident, charasmatic and thorough!I highly recommend coming here. The stylists are regularly supervised by their instructor and will make sure you dont leave looking ate up ;)Thank you to Rahkel and the staff for being so accommodating and understanding with my hair requests! Usually my stylist and I end up going too short but she was very attentive and understanding, asked the whole time if the length would be good before she cut the next layers, and she took great care in her technique. Paid $80 to try and get more information and just got ripped off. Went in after 5 minutes realized I couldn’t meet their schedule requirements. Really should’ve made that information free.

This is a hair salon, skin care and waxing school, long established in Anchorage. All the services are performed by students. Points to know are: services may take awhile longer depending on the students training level, services are priced very reasonably in consideration of student performers, the only earnings the students receive are tips for their service, there is always an instructor on the floor overseeing and assisting the students. The instructor may phsyically assist in the service.In my opinion, the hair cuts Ive received here have been equal to the quick cut chain salons and even many of the professional salons around Anchorage.They took care to sanitize the equipment and areas and observe social distancing, according to the Covid mandates. Services are done by appointment; no walk-ins at this time.

The cost of a simple trim should always be $11 here, BUT what you are getting is students who are attending Academy of Hair Design to become your next top hair stylists this year and beyond. Guys, these are people attending college to make a cut above the rest.I asked for even layers all the way around with my hair stylist, Rowan. She delivered above my expectations and made me feel beautiful!!! I tipped her an additional $20, for several reasons: Theyre attending college. Cost of tuition isnt cheap. The cost of their supplies that they pay for- isnt cheap. A pair of scissors costs these students upwards of $200, for one pair. A hair dryer costs these students upwards of around $80, just for a top notch hair dryer. These people are delivering you something above and beyond, and that costs. This doesnt include price of food for them to eat and to keep the energy up to do what they are doing. Ive done my own hair before, your arms get sore trying to hold up a curling iron, to constantly be moving to trim hair, to do anything with hair that requires styling.So, here is what I am asking you, The Anchorage District reading my review:-Everyone has $20. It doesnt matter if you are poor or rich, its almost always guaranteed you have $20. Here is what you do here: Flood Academy of Hair Design with $20 tips. They deliver on their product. These students need help. There is nothing worse than a starving student who cant afford food because of cost of tuition.-Were going to help these students set the new standard. Theyre doing an amazing job, and it isnt easy living paycheck to paycheck. They need support of the community, big or small businesses, please chip in with an additional tip.There is a professor who checks your hair behind what the student does. She is ensuring You are getting what you asked for and she wants the customers to be satisfied. After getting my hair trimmed, the professor is trying to ensure customer satisfaction guarantee, but it was almost unnecessary with Rowan who did such a wonderful job.For both the professor, and the students, lets flood them with $20 Tips from Anchorage District and help them grow. AHD is amazing. I’ve never been one to trust students with my hair. But the three times I’ve gone in I have gotten exactly what I asked for and when the instructor checks their work they almost never have to fix anything. Also the facial and brow waxing was amazing. They definitely put time and money into training their students correctly. Love love love them!

CHARGED $110 MORE. It was the worst nightmare ever. I went in for coloring, and there was no consultation on the process nor the pricing. By the time I realized, they were bleaching my hair without my consent, and I was charged $110 more without knowing (they said it was after the discount HA). I understand the wrong coloring and hectic environment as it is an academy, however, you cannot start doing things without a consult and expect customers to pay.STUDENTS were great to be fair, but the instructors were not helping them out enough throughout. Rather passing by, kind of hanging out and chit chatting. I have been to one other cosmetics school before and it was a very different experience with supportive instructors.

Ive been coming here for the past year or so. Ive been pleased with the quality of the service Ive received, and no extra charge beyond that of a basic haircut. It is actually a beauty/barber academy and the instructors double check everything prior to the clients leaving. Theyre also very supportive of military veterans and donate free haircuts for those who cant otherwise afford to pay. Ill continue to come here as long as I live in the Anchorage area.

Wow. I started coming here because they have a partnership with the VA offering free haircuts for Veterans participating in a program. I loved the quality of haircut I received and so kept coming back once I was out of that program and pay for the most thorough haircut I have gotten in the year and a half that I lived here. They even offer hot towel, straight razor shaves! Wow! I keep coming back here and continue to leave very satisfied. Every time.

Cody was very knowledible regarding my perm. This includes rods, solutions, time and safety. He was very gentle with my fine thin hair. I appreciate his kindness and patience. The staff was friendly and patient, too. The area was clean and tidy, which is great, too!

Went to take my barber’s course and had a great experience. Learned a lot. My instructors Kelly and KK were great at guiding me towards meeting proper facial shaving skills and success as a barber. Thank you Ashley and staff for opening your doors to me in my career as a barber.Loved the training and fun environment. Fellow classmates were awesome and very friendly too.

Very un-organized, Ive been waiting for an hour for a simple haircut and another customer came in for a haircut and insisted on helping him to a chair and cutting all of us just because theyre close friends and not caring for the other customers and I, patiently waiting for awhile. Very disappointing. I usually bring my son here, but now I second guess myself. Totally not bringing my son to this barber anymore.

For $11 bucks, I got a good haircut and shampoo wash. They do a good job.

I’m not one to let a barber school cut my hair just because the students are basically practicing what they learned in your head. But when I went in to this school yesterday to get a cut I felt like I was in the right place. I’m a barber myself so I walked in taking a chance after I got off my flight. First off they were playing the game -LIFE!!! That’s a good game especially to have a group of students interacting with one another playing. Second I approached by a student who was ready to cut me up I wasn’t ready though but I still sat in his chair hoping that he did not mess me up. We talked and he started to cut my hair into a taper I know this cut like the back of my hand I can do it with my eyes closed. He did his thang and he even washed my hair with shampoo and conditioner 😳 I didn’t see that coming at all for 11$ I was amazed then he rubbed the sponge in my head for about 15mins to make my curls pop... broooo I was very satisfied and my wife liked it. I will be coming back to this school but I have to get the same barber lbvs. Christian you did a good job keep up that studying Ik I made you nervous but you did hella good bro 💯. This a good school

It is a learning center so I didnt expect too much. I was ok with simple hair cut but ENVIRONMENT isnt anything to enjoy. very little greeting at the front and coldish check out. not interested to return.

Haircut and highlights were ok. Took 4 hours to get it done which was very frustrating. Sitting in a chair for a half hour while someone just touches your hair. Then when I go to pay, I was told that the highlights that I asked for which are advertised as 40 dollars are actually color all over... not highlights. I asked for and got highlights, but paid double the advertised price. Im not going back
