Weve been coming here for a few months of the childrens Ju Jitsu classes. Our 5-yr old ABSOLUTELY LOVES it here! After one trial class he decided he was done with Karate. What I love as a father of a child attending class are:1. The Instructors/Coaches are excellent with the children; theyre kind, friendly, professional, and have a great balance between discipline and fun.2. Safe environment. The Coach:Student ratio allows the children to learn new moves, and overwatch to ensure nobody gets injured.3. Variety of class. The class is broken down into three sections: warm-ups, technical learning with hands-on practice, and rolling for three rounds... Sometimes the class finishes early so the kids can play dodge ball and other physical games.

I started my BJJ journey at the FREE womens self defense class on Saturdays. Stephanie, the instructor, eased my anxieties about learning Martial Arts as a woman. She saw my potential and was encouraging so I took the leap and dove into the regular BJJ classes.Every person I have come into contact with since joining Legacy has taught me something valuable whether it be about BJJ, life, or myself.I am humbled by their willingness to teach patience and foster learning without judgement. I cant say that about a lot of things in this world right now.I am healthier than I have ever been and its not just because of the choices I make outside its because Legacy is constantly building me up and encouraging me to try, try, and try again.I am an awkward white belt that gets nervous, fumbles and sometimes just doesnt get it but I have an amazing group of leaders to guide me on this path. The womens class and BJJ has changed me so much in such a small amount of time. I have so much respect and gratitude for this place and the people in it! Come try it out!

When I first started attending Legacy, I was going through the hardest year of my life. I was losing my mother to cancer and struggling to cope with the loss. A friend convinced me to give Muay Thai a try, so I did. I was frustratingly terrible at first (Im a perfectionist). But I kept at it with the help of a great training partner and wonderful coaches. And I became a part of a big family that Id be lost without (they carried me through that year). Ive come a long way in my training and I now attend five days a week. If I miss a day, I feel a little lost. I even found myself missing my Legacy family while I was on vacation! I know, crazy. I dont know how much weight Ive lost, but Ive gone from wearing a 10 to a 4. I feel stronger and more confident than ever. Try it.

Ive been to quite a few Jiu Jitsu gyms over the past years due to being moved from state to state in the military. This is one I will hate leaving and will always stand out as one of the best. Highly recommended. Amazing atmosphere, Jiu JItsu Family, and of course coaching.

The coaches at Legacy let me train for a week this summer while on vacation. The atmosphere is very relaxed and positive; but the instruction is some of the best jiujitsu Ive seen. I highly recommend Legacy for anyone in the Anchorage area.

A friendly and welcoming martial arts school that teaches legitimate Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Wrestling, and Muay Thai. I highly recommend giving the lead instructor a call. He moonlights as a comedian!

I started learning Muay Thai and BJJ in Las Vegas when life happened and brought me to Alaska. I had made some great connections there so I was pretty particular about what I wanted in a gym.I tried out a couple of gyms up here in anchorage and eagle river but none of them worked for me, it’s easy to feel threatened by people’s egos walking into a new gym.Later on I was told about how awesome Legacy Jiu Jitsu is and that I would surely love it!I was hooked! I consider myself a tough student, but the coaches here really connected with me. Grant has such angelic patience teaching me Judo and Jiu Jitsu lol!Niko’s Muay Thai classes are intense and a lot of fun!Jordan, Franky, and Nifo are also some of my favorite coaches! As a woman practicing with many guys, I’ve never once felt uncomfortable. There is also a FREE women’s self Defense And BJJ class on saturdays at 11 at the west location on international! Not to mention how many amazing Champions this gym produces! Yea we are talking olympians, tournaments and UFC champions! The community alone here is powerful! They’ve all become family. I highly recommend Legacy to anyone wanting to get started on their martial arts journey! You won’t feel out of place ❤️
