Wife and I recently completed the US Sailing Bareboat Cruising course at J World. Living aboard a sailboat with Captain Mike Hull - and two others wed just met - for five days on the Chesapeake Bay was easily one of the most memorable experiences of our lives. We learned so much. J World Annapolis has certainly earned the great reputation it has in the sailing community. Likely wont be the last course we take there.

Just wrapped up the basic Keelboat course over the last two weekends. J80s are great boats to learn on and our coaches were both excellent. Different styles, different backgrounds, which highlighted that sailing can get you doing different things: day sailing, cruising, racing, and passage-making. Perfect wind both weekends, light on Saturday and solid on Sunday, the final day we were out in force 5-6 and flew the only spinnaker in the Chesapeake with Michael, yep you read that right, out sub-30 foot J80 flew a spinnaker when the ocean racers and big yachts weren’t. Cannot imagine how we could have learned more in four days. Highly recommend these folks in Annapolis if youre just getting started sailing or ready to take it to the next level.

I was lucky enough to have the best sailing instructor ever. His name is Jahn Tihansky. He instill confidence in a way no other instructor has ever done since. First rate mate.

Just finished a 5 day basic keelboat course. Hard work for sure but very satisfying experience. A lot of classroom and on the water stuff gets covered, and my shoulders are aching this morning! The beauty of getting away from your daily routine and sailing a J80 with no engine or electronics is stunning. Silent running - wonderful. Just the noise of the water passing you - it could easily become a narcotic! The best part of this experience is the team of instructors and support staff. I was seriously impressed by the level of expertise and professionalism demonstrated by every coach I came into contact with at JWorld.I cannot recommend this company highly enough. Far exceeded my expectations.
