I dont understand why there is even a jujitsu school like this. Im am beyond confused. I walked in thinking that this was going to be some dirty and poorly maintained school. I dont get why the mats are always CLEAN. My first class was NOT what I expected. I didnt even get beaten up. What I dont appreciate is Professor Ben taking the time to demonstrate PROPERLY the techniques down to the smallest details. I dont care about learning things the RIGHT way. I was expecting to just be thrown onto the mat and get my butt whooped. It did not happen because all coaches and students are TOO helpful. I dont know about you, but Im not looking for a productive, healthy, and encouraging learning environment. Im leaving this 5 star review because I am just SHOCKED with how this place is not a tough and intimidating atmosphere. Because of this, Im staying here, trapped, because I have too good a time here and will never leave this place. I guess I will never be able to experience a 1 star jujitsu school. Enjoy your 5 star review. Good luck getting me to change my mind to give you a 1 star.

I enrolled my Boys into the kick boxing with Coach Oscar and the Jiu Jitsu with Coaches Royce and Nancy during the summer and couldnt be happier.....well, less costly would make me happier but not at the expense of the quality training and clean establishment :) FYI Kick Boxing is an adult class and as such Teens are allowed ONLY with the Coaches approval. My boys loved the Kick Boxing and cant wait to return, after we take care of some important matters.

Ive been training at this school since it first opened. Professor Ben and Bert, coach Josh, Leo and Ji are the most welcoming kind people youll ever meet! Their patience, kindness, and willingness to help a student is one of a kind! The positive atmosphere of the school reflects a very selfless demeanor that gives definition to the school. Technique, skill, and fluidity are the 3 marks that represent the students and instructors here. Definitley recommend if youre around the San Gabriel Valley/626 area!

This academy is one of the best places to learn the martial art of Jiu-Jitsu. I have been training Jiu-Jitsu for 8 years now and the past 3 years have been here. It is a family friendly environment that caters to all skill levels of kids and adults. The academy is big and clean. Two separate mat spaces to run simultaneous classes. The coaches are very adept and knowledgeable. They keep the kids fully engaged and provide a fun and safe place for them. The academy is owned by a man of high character. He has been learning Jiu-Jitsu for 15 years now and is always looking for more knowledge to teach the students. He has brought in World Champions for seminar because we are all students in Jiu-Jitsu and his thirst to learn from them is insatiable. He is a certified strength and conditioning coach and personal trainer to many high level and professional athletes. He teaches technique that is fit for all levels and his attention to detail is outstanding. The academy also offers kick boxing 4 times a week as well. It is a good workout and worth checking out.Come by. Give it a try. Its an awesome place that my family and I are proud to be a part of and enjoy our time that is spent here.

I’ve been training at SCHL for about 7 months now and I have had nothing but good experiences from the high quality instruction, helpful staff, and accommodating business owner. The community here is very positive and friendly. All my training partners are humble and are primarily concerned with improving their own skills while also bringing the skill levels of other training partners as well. There isn’t anyone with a ego trying to beat up others to prove they are the best.I primarily take the adult jiu jitsu classes here but I also regularly attend the judo class and sometimes will attend the kickboxing class. Jiu Jitsu classes are broken up into 3 skill levels: basics, fundamentals, and advanced. Basics is for the complete beginner and is mostly made up of learning defense, pinning an opponent to gain control, and some basic submissions. There isn’t any sparring in the basics class. Fundamentals assumes you have some knowledge of jiu jitsu and the instructor will dive into some key details to help improve your technique through teaching, positional training, and a little drilling. This class is around teaching sport jiu jitsu. The advanced class will usually comprise of learning 1 or 2 submissions to finish an opponent building off the controls that were learned in the fundamentals class along with live sparring. Judo is great for anyone trying to learn takedown techniques and has a good balance of learning the judo throws, sparring, and setups to land your throws. Kickboxing is great if you want to improve your conditioning but also teaches you footwork, defense, counters, and different attacks for striking. Also a little bit of live sparring occasionally here.Overall, awesome experience and I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn martial arts at a friendly and positive environment!
