Grandview is an amazing school and so much more than we even expected. The academics are outstanding with one of the largest Advanced Placement curriculums in the state. And Grandview students actually take the AP tests because they are so prepared, they want to get the college credit. This year Grandview has 8 National Merit Semi-Finalists en route to becoming National Merit Scholars in the Spring of 2014. At Grandview everyone seems to find their niche. We strongly believe and support that We are all Wolves.

I passionately hate this school and the people in it. The promising academic achievement of many of the students here is a veil to cover the personal misery of day-to-day attendance. Almost all the students are cocky and consider themselves above others in one way or another. The staff does nothing to aid the students who are put down by others. Dont let the leading academic performance fool you, I dreaded every year I went to this school. This school is a disastrous mix of power-abusing security guards, inexperienced teachers, and students who will push a kid to the emotional brink if he/she does not fit in; ask yourself if this is a place you want your kid to suffer on a daily basis. I see my past attendance here as a stain on my life that I cant go back and get rid of. At graduation, I was happier knowing what was behind me rather than knowing what I had achieved. This school is a walk-in prison. Long story short, send your kid to Grandview if you want him/her to have a shot at academic success and come home after school stressed and hating his/her life.

I see lots of reviews saying they love this school, and lots of reviews saying they hate this school. All I can say is, you are in charge of your own happiness, academics, growth, etc. Dont blame the school for something that you are in control of.The teachers here are pretty good overall. I highly recommend to take AP core classes, since thats where most of the good teachers are at. Ive taken both AP and regular core classes, and the regular core classes are a joke. They dont challenge you, and the teachers arent likely to help you all that much since most of them dont care. However, the AP classes really do challenge you, and most of the teachers are more than happy to help you with anything. Seriously, AP classes are the fun classes. Ive never regretted taking a single one of mine (maybe except AP Lit). Dont be afraid of them just because theyre at a college level.Freshman year was rough for me just because the transition from middle school to high school was hard. Heres my advice to you: find something to look forward to everyday. If you love playing in band, then join Grandviews band. If you love soccer, join the soccer team. If you love arguing, join the debate team. Your happiness should not be at the expense of your education. Like I said before, you are in control of it. You cant control what your teachers do, but you can control your attitude about it. Finding something to look forward to everyday will help you have a positive outlook in school. The students here at Grandview are fairly good too. Well, it depends on who you hang out with. If you hang out with good people, then their positive influence will reflect on you. If you hang out with all the pot heads, youre pretty much doomed to fail. Grandview is known as a sports school, but it has other achievements in music, art, business, mathematics, and other areas as well. Find your niche and enjoy your time here.Tl;dr: You are in control of your life, happiness, and academics. Hang out with good people, follow your passion, and always smile. I wish you the best of luck at school.~A graduate

Grand view has the top notch technology available, and plenty of fun and interesting electives including stuff like photography, drawing and painting, nutritions class/ cooking class, even graphic design and more! Now if you want to go to school for the people, you may not like it. Grand view is filled with petty rich kids and in this area drugs are around every corner, these kids are not Innocent. Although I wouldnt say because of it you shouldnt go, its with every high school, grand view is an exceptional school with the best educational opportunities easily available, you just have to be careful about who you hang with. Drugs that are pushed around this school and are very easily obtained, not to mention no one is shy about talking about it in front of others. The school is filled with security that walk around the halls of the school. The teachers are hard to find if you dont know where there office is most of them dont have there own class rooms. In grand view you get an off period they want you to use it to catch up on things and to go see your teachers. I hope this helped anybody that was interested, there are so many opportunities given in this school even if you dont get the best grades they work hard to try and help. My freshman year of 2013 was great and if I could I would love to graduate there. As a student with dialectia at every corner there is help from my counciler and my case worker, my previous schools had messed up the stuff I was getting help with and what I wasnt getting help with, it had been like that for 2 years and no one was fixing it, when I got to grand view my case worker fixed and cleaned everything up for me. If it werent for that I would be getting the wrong help. Overall I had a great experience c: Go wolves!

I got lost on my way back from the restroom and found my way into Narnia somehow-- best 70 years of my life. Go talking lions! On a serious note though, Grandview is an academically excelling school generally speaking, but its only able to do so by sacrificing its students happiness and emotional/mental well being and sense of individuality in order to raise the schools testing scores come time for ACTs and TCAPs. Quite the twisted place if you want my honest opinion- they need to focus less of GPAs and a little more on the well being of their student body, ty.

Our daughter went to Grandview for her freshman year. As parents, we were surprised and disappointed with the lack of response we got from the counseling staff. One of them said she couldnt return our calls because she has trouble getting the voicemail system to work (Ive been using voicemail since 1976!). Testing we paid for revealed our daughter is ADD. We asked the school to do the testing; they refused. We later learned that schools are mandated to do the testing at no cost. We also learned from parents that CCSD will not do the testing, unless forced to by the state. We built our home in CCSD because we heard so many positives about the district. When Regis Jesuit opened the Girls Division, our daughter transferred. We all agree that was the best thing we could have done. The teachers and staff are much more caring AND demanding. Students do not slip through the cracks at Regis. As we learned with our son, a small school education is preferable for most students.Large high schools may be good for the athletic programs, but they cant seem to accommodate the above average and gifted students very well.
