National Martial Arts Academy has been my home away from home for 10 years now. They have worked with me and trained me to be the best martial artist that I can be. I just earned my third degree black belt, during the pandemic, and when I started I never thought that would be possible. I am so happy with this school and I would recommend it to anyone looking for classes of any ages. They start as young as 3 and can work with anyone! They have great experience working within the education system, so you know that the information they are giving helps kids grow mentally as well as physically! Amazing place!

I have been a student of the academy for quite a few years and I wouldn’t trade a single minute of it for anything. The teachers are thoughtful, helpful people who help you not only on the floor but with personal issues and support during your training. They are very creative with events, for kids and adults. Finally you can’t help but feel like you are part of a family that will be there for you in more ways then you can imagine. If you consider joining, you will get more bang for your buck then you ever thought possible.

I have been going to the academy for 5 years for their black belt and cardio kick boxing classes. Under the tutelage and insights on how Kung-Fu works, my understanding of the art and the proficiency has given me a confidence to overcome any issues. The kick boxing classes has greatly helped me get into shape and be able to compete with adults half my age.The instructors are very knowledgeable have work with each student. Giving demonstrations, advice, and encouragement as we move through our skills and ranks. They do not just teach combat skills but life coping skills, create confidence in oneself and respect.

Highly recommend. My son has been attending for just over 1 year. I started in the adult class about 2 months ago. This is a great academy and I cant speak enough to the service that they provide. The owner met with us right away and is available during most classes. Owner ensures that everyone feels welcome and interacts with parents during kid classes. Above and beyond all the great curriculum, they provide many kid friendly activities such as parent night out and community shows and parties. EXTREMELY good as communicating with members about upcoming events and additional classes via classes and social media. The training and instructional staff is very good about tailoring the training age appropriately.

As a student of several martial arts and various masters i have never been more impressed at first impressions. I recently separated from the military and master silva understood my injuries and works with me to make sure to adapt the course to my needs. I honestly believe the reviews are people who went into the contract without understanding tuition cost. I look forward to training in this dojo for as long as possible.

We have been taking our son here for only a few months and we already see a great improvement in his motor skills, commitment, coronation, and discipline. As parents we enjoy going in and watching our son because the instructors are so hands on and helpful. If a child isn’t learning something they take the time to teach them until they figure it out. The instructors have a way with the kids that makes them know who they have to listen to and pay attention to. It’s a very clean and well taken care of establishment. The owner of the place is a great man as well. Very sincere and knowledgeable. He takes time out of his day to walk around and shake hands with the parents. We highly recommend this academy to anyone who is interested in karate.

My son has been at the Academy for about a year now and even though my son is the one in the Academy we all love it and all the instructors/Master Silva make us feel at home and like we are family. I love that Master Silver will come around and shake all the parents hands and tell them hello. The instructors are always nice and know exactly how to train all types of children even when some of the children want to mess around the instructors know exactly how to calm them down and have them show respect. I love that they have them do push-ups if they have a lot of energy and arent listening as it teaches the child respect and the push-ups get some of the childs energy out and makes them focus. My son loves it here and doesnt want to try anything else. In the last year my son has showed more self confidence, discipline, and respect and Im so proud of him and the Academy for getting him to where he is today. I would recommend anyone to this Martial Arts Academy, if you are thinking about karate this is definitely the place to come :)

UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES !!! REPORT TO BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU! Echoing voices from other parents on here, these guys are just greedy con artists trying to lure you into commitments that you have no way out. They will try to squeeze every bit of your hard earned money out of you. When my son stops attending the Academy, with proper notice, the Academy continued to charge our bank for months after months subsequent to our sons departure. Confronting the owner, out of no where he brings out this contract saying that we are supposed to be committed in his program for 3 years, and no where does it mention about early termination or even offering prorated rates for students that need to leave the program. Once ink hits paper, youre hooked for $7k to $8k, no matter if you child is sick, relocation, change of interest, or run into any type of emergency. This is completed unfair and unethical from an academy that is trying to teach our kids positive behaviors. We will be submitting claims to the Better Business Bureau and have our voice heard on social medias and news outlet. Way to ruin reputation for ripping off people. I hope people STAY AWAY from this place.

Mr. Maaliki was great with our son.As we were approaching a year we wanted to take a break for summer. Spoke to Mr. Kim in March 2016 about this. We noticed in May we were billed and after a couple weeks of calls with Mr. Kim and Master SIlva back and forth we were supposed to be refunded.Billed again in June, and then told to speak with their billing company as there is nothing else they can do. Contested with CC company and were FINALLY refunded through them. Now its August almost 6 months later and I have received a call from Master Silva and a bill from the billing company this week saying we owe on our account. This is SO FRUSTRATING. I feel they were good while we were there, but as soon as you want to take a break or leave and if there are problems, you are on your own, no matter if you did cancel correctly.

I am posting a review of the National Martial Arts Academy in Aurora Colo.Ever since my daughter began attending this school she has increased her abilities and gained a social understanding which has added an advantage to her every day way of thinking and performing in all areas of her life. She has only been involved for a few months and is already showing an increase in physical strength, ability, and flexibility. She has also developed a more confident and secure way of thinking and a higher level of concentration. Her self esteem has also taken flight and she is all the more well rounded due to the instructors training and advice under Master Silvas plan and protocol. These instructors are very reputable and skilled in Wushu/ Kung Fu martial arts. They are also very good with the students, making them understand and believe in the ways of hard work, dedication, self discipline and reward for accomplishing and reaching goals. As well as instilling values and priming the students character and preparing them for challenges that they may encounter in their daily lives being physical, mental, or social. I am very proud to be a part of this organization with my daughter, and I hold these instructors and Master Silva in very high regard for their dedication, devotion and hard work to the better education of the people of the community as to make it better place to be by nurturing the good in all who attend.-Special thanks to Master Silva, and all alumni, instructors, and staff involved in the existence of this very special school of martial arts.-Sincerely,Scott Hill

National Martial Arts Academy is a great place because it gives you a great exercise that you need for these important reasons. First of all, there are all kinds of bad people out there that might try to hurt us or kidnap us. It is very important we know how to defend ourselves. We also need to learn how to make sure we are getting enough exercise to get stronger. Some people have different ideas or opinions about getting stronger but in my opinion National Arts Academy is the way to go. I would say it is somewhere in the Top Ten places to get some exercise. Last but not least, it is a place you basically use manners, like yes maam, yes sir and other kinds of manners. It is a respectful way to let them know youre listening and not day dreaming. Manners also make sure you are not being rude to others. I also love how we do Kung Fu almost every day of the week. That is why I think the National Martial Arts Academy is a great place to do kung fu.

My now 12-year-old son is in the National Martial Arts Academy Leadership Program.  He has been with the Academy for a little over 6 years now. Over the past year, they have been learning some leadership skills, including how to be responsible for others.  This week, during the NMAA Summer Kung Fu Camp, he truly experienced what being responsible for others means and what self-restraint as a leader means.  He also learned how tiring leadership consisting of constant vigilance can be.  The practical application of the theoretical skills they learned over the year were successfully demonstrated during regular classes and over longer hours throughout this Camp. The performance during Camp came as close to real world working environment as possible.  I am ever grateful to Da Sifu Silva for his personal mentorship of this Leadership Program.  I have witnessed significant character building and growth spurs in my son over the course of this Program. My son got his black belt in August 2017 when he was 10. He was the scrawniest, smallest kid in glasses in his school and scout den. Thanks to NMAA training, he beat everyone at scout camp in Indian Staff Wrestling (all kids bigger than him).In 5th grade, 4 bullies jumped him from behind in school, and thanks to his training at NMAA, he broke free without falling, then, one of the bullies (an entire foot taller than my son) grabbed him by the shirt with 2 hands and started tossing him side to side trying to topple him. He broke free using a move he learned at NMAA, and with open palms jumped back to indicate he does not want a fight (an anti-bullying move he learned during NMAAs recurring anti-bullying seminars), thus successfully diffusing the situation while keeping his dignity and earning the respect of the bullies and bystanding friends alike. My son also beat the push-up and sit-up all time all age record at his K-8 school. He was only in 5th grade. On that day, his self-esteem took a few steps up, irreversibly.Da Sifu Silva has also helped my son with his need to learn advocating for himself, a skill recognized as a shortcoming since my sons 3rd grade. Now he is better at this skill in school, at home, and everywhere else. The entire NMAA staff work as one in providing their students with a well rounded physical, mental, and social training. One summer, the children were required to read books and write reports, which were reviewed and critiqued for feedback.I myself am overweight at 47 years of age, and truly enjoyed the two years I trained at NMAA, until my doctors told me to stop 4 years ago. But when time permits, I plan on ignoring doctors orders, for I miss the NMAA family and training.Arthur S. IshkhansAttorney at Law

I simply love the community and support within the school! There is more to learn here than just Martial Arts. You will also learn about your self, your limits, your strengths, your weaknesses, your abilities, your drive, how to work together and how to work off one another. Kung Fu means skill through hard work. The instructors here will help you achieve and realize that. Discipline is learned. Hard work is applied. In the end, it will strengthen and ready your mind, body and spirit.

Mr malinki is a nice man and excelent instructor that is truly passionate. There are few on his level. There are some other people at that establishment I feel are purely in it for the money and they will do anything to keep you in there grasps. The contract is a little ridiculous. thats my warning. And when you ask to leave the class theyll do everything to try and keep you. So I share similar frustrations as Mrs. Reep. Although many things couldve been done at many points to make our withdraw from classes easier and refund our money appropriately for classes we did not attend due to an extrodinarily complicated family emergency. My newborn baby was suffering from heart failure. Our lives got turned upside down there was no time to go to kung fu class to sit down in an office and withdraw. Emails were sent promises were made and still we were charged. Given the sensitive nature of the topic One would think it would not be too difficult to unenroll your other son as student. After getting frustrated we were treated like we were the problem. This sent my wife into a frenzy and down to his office. Not kind when youre dealing with a family emergency and tender emotions. My son ended up getting a Heart Transplant. We dont have the free time we used to and eventually after the visit from my wife we were refunded one month of many. Minimal efforts were made to correct this, although our contract ended up being torn up. our money was not fully refunded. One month back out of four or five we did not attend but ended up paying for. From what I understand a hold was put on our account by Mr. Shefu through payroll and when the hold expired they charged us anyway. Still not my problem is the way he will treat it. Constantly the excuse was we need proof. When proof was sent no email was responded to. The classic playing two ends against the middle. Mister Shefu is a man of excuses at this point to me. Apparently he has too many emails and too much work to to audit our account appropriately and refund us appropriately. Another thing hell do to pass the buck they say that its not him its the accounting and payroll company that needs the proof. In my opinion a payroll company and its people work for you and do as you say. As they pay you and your company after all no? This is a simple case of playing 2 ends against the middle in order to get ahead or look like you did not make a mistake. When indeed in this case a mistake was made. The teachers and the system of training here works well when you can show up. God for bid you got to get out for some emergency though. And I dont think it should be that tough. Its a place and practice the kids like, and the parents like: kung fu. But unless youre canceling in person It can be a headache. So dont leave town last minute or have any medical emergences. We were in the hospital for or five months. What a miserable experience it was for my wife when she got asked to prove it. How many of you want to prove anything about your sons medical history to a king fu place should not your word be enough. I havent wanted to go back since due to my frustrations with how my money was handled and why I never received a full refund for the months my son did not attend class.
