If you often wonder what is wrong with the hair scene in Austin, and/or why it’s light years behind most other metropolitan areas, wonder no further. This place is an abomination to the barber and cosmetology industry and regularly turns out people who would have been better off watching YouTube tutorials and training themselves. Ridiculous. If you’re a prospective student we urge you to go ANYWHERE else. Seriously. Anywhere. And you have plenty of options.

Called and was told nobody was available to do coloring. Went in and literally every student/instructor were sitting in a room gossiping and not doing anything. Not one person was cutting hair or coloring. It appears they’re getting credit hours for literallly just sitting around. If the owner of the school is wondering why it’s generating little to no revenue they might want to look into this.

I was in Austin for 2 days and I stumbled upon this gem of a place. MaeMae was my stylist. I got an amazing haircut, deep conditioning and blow dry for a fraction of the cost of other salons. The instructors inspect the students often. MaeMae was wonderful and I highly recommend her.

Made an appointment for my husband for the barber part of the school. My husband was very happy with their work. The best part he didnt get charged because he USMC veteran! He gave both Lito &.Cruz a very nice tip! Thank you Academy of Hair Design!!!

I had my hair cut by Florian yesterday and I’m very happy with the job she did. I got a trim, a bit of layering on the bottom, and a face frame for $9. She was very professional and gave me some suggestions as I only had a rough idea of what I wanted. When her instructor came to check her work at the end, she told her her work was beautiful. I was a walk-in and I didn’t have to wait very long.

The salon is comfortable. I came at 6pm with appt booked with Tiara, friend told me shes good. But then, she was double booked to do nails. I planned to wait but the front desk suggest me to change a hairdresser. Before I walk in, saw Tiara was freed up. But Ive been arranged to be handle by Amelia. Shes new, Im her first and turns out a good experience. She was really careful, instructors are around to check and help. Ive got a great haircut for a really affordable price.

One of the best barber and cosmetology schools Ive ever been to. I completed my barber crossover program here and it was one of the best decisions Ive ever made in my life. All of the instructors are amazing and so helpful. If your looking for an affordable haircut, shave, color, wax, style, or facial this is the place to go. If your looking to join an amazing industry of beauty and mens grooming this is also the place for you. They have the highest recommendation in my book.

I started at Ron King Academy in September as a student barber and it has been without a doubt, the best decision I have ever made. I recently got out the army and pursued a career in the hair industry. This school has taught me so much. The staff and the students are amazing! The energy at Ron King Academy is indescribable. Everyone is always in a good mood and if youre not, by the end of the day you will be. Ms. Tracy made my admission a breeze. Mr. Leonard, the barber instructor is phenomenal. He stays motivated and in turn you are motivated. If you are ready to Get All The Bananas! DO NOT hesitate and come tour Ron King Academy!!

Students and faculty are friendly and very attentive to your hair needs/concerns and will discuss with you in detail before doing anything. I’ve been going here about once a month and am always very satisfied with the quality of work. Anticipate spending a couple hours, as with any cosmetology school, because they are students and get faculty approval throughout the process of any cut/color/perm/etc, but this ensures a satisfactory result. Prices are extremely reasonable so tip your student well!

Wonderful and beautiful school that looks more like a high end salon. The education is excellent and the faculty care about each and everyone of the students success not only in their careers, but also in their personal lives. Another bonus is that Ron King is not just a name on the school he takes time out of his schedule to come and teach advanced techniques almost once a week.

Dont go here unless you want to spend 2 hours and go through 3 different people. I went today and the student was definitely new to cutting hair she worked so slow that a hour in just the first cut was done. I left at 1 pm unhappy and realized I was just a head of hair. The cut wasnt completed bangs still almost to my chin. I Dont suggest this place but do suggest Baldwin . If you want just a basic trim you could walk out happy.

Academy of Hair Design did a great job on my teen daughters cut and color! Her hair looks super cute. The staff here is great and the price is the best reason to try it! We love Academy of Hair Design and Bevelle Barber School.

I went to the salon yesterday for my wedding hairstyle and was extremely pleased! Ethan and Chelsea did an awesome job and played a major part in my big day! I will for sure be going back very soon!

I got my hair done here about a week ago with Caliegh and she did such a great job! It was kind of a weird place at first, but thats because I didnt know these kinds of things existed. I definitely suggest giving this a chance, especially for the prices. I honestly didnt expect too much but I wasnt worried because I know hair grows back - but that didnt even matter because I truly am grateful for how good of a job she did.

Id like to start off by saying I am extremely happy to have chosen Academy of Hair Design. My stylist was Joselyn, she was very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable throughout the whole process. Joselyn performed a color correction/lightening on my hair while under the supervision of Ms.Letty (who was also very sweet and knowledgeable). The stylists/stylists in training are very honest and try to get you towards your goals while maintaining the integrity of your hair. Aside from the fact that she did a great job, she also advised me on how I should take care of my new color and how to maintain it. Thank you Joselyn, Ms.Letty, and Ms.Wendy! I will definitely be returning and recommending this establishment to everyone I know!

Long hair beware! I only go to cosmetology schools when I need something simple because my hair is my pride and joy. All I needed was a wash and my hair straightened. Im picky about who I let cut my hair so I only asked her to trim a few (THREE) inches... long story short I walked in with hair down to my butt crack, my hair now barely touches my shoulders. When I was leaving I was very visibly upset and crying. The student didnt even apologize. On top of that, I explained to her I was tender-headed. She was rough while brushing my hair and wasnt the slight bit remorseful when I expressed discomfort. I learned my lesson... Id rather pay triple the price. #BringBackRegency

I cant even begin to descibe how much I LOVE this school. Ron King Academy has changed my life, not only in getting my career path started, but has over all made me a happier person. We have the BEST instructors and staff possible. They genuinely care about our success and are so patient with us, you can just tell they enjoy being here as much as we do! The education we get here is so helpful and way more than just you standard state board drills. We have the opportunity to learn from professions, including Ron King himself. He will be here a couple times a month and teach us techniques that have helped him succeed in the beauty business. I have only been here for 3 months and I already feel like Im exceeding my expections on advanced skills! Because of the techniques and the way our instructors educate us, we are confident once we hit the main floor. Also, the owners of this wonderful school, Christie and Dave, are constently in to make sure we are always in good hands. They care so much about us as a whole and a family, not just the school itself. I cant imagine myself at any other school. This school is a PERFECT fit for anyone who has passion for the beauty industry. Whether thats being a barber or cosmetologist this school will push you to reach your highest potential!

Went in to get a cut and coloring. The student was inexperienced with the clippers: it kept turning off and pulling hair, and she gave me boxy hair edges on the sides. Most of my three hours was spent by her looking for a supervisor. Despite the initial consultation, it was only after the coloring did they say that it would not even be visible.
