I have 2 boys that attend classes with Master Doss, one is in little champions who just moved up and the other is in Teens. I love how the owners are so Involved. Mrs Jamie is very welcoming, helps the parents with all the questions and is always there with a smile. Master Doss teaches them about skills and techniques of The Martial Arts as well as self-discipline, self-defense and self-confidence. It becomes a family event that we all enjoy! I truly recommend Impact Martial Arts!

What an Impact this experience has made. I am a Nana, with a wonderful 10 year old grandson that has ADHD and Dyslexia. I researched many options for athletic/physical activities that he could participate in and fit in. Team sports can be daunting for some kids with challenges, so I educated myself on Martial Arts and ADHD. My first thought was oh my, he will be kicking, punching and showing out everywhere. Even though I read of all the benefits and personal growth, I still thought well, my grandson is different. But I opened my mind, did a lot of reading and decided to give it a shot. When searching for a Dojo I visited several and researched the backgrounds of those operating the Dojo. I quickly learned that there many teaching styles and personalities in this realm. We attended a free class at Impact Martial Arts one evening. We were greeted with kindness, genuine interest in us, and felt very comfortable. My grandson was very excited and joined the others in the Dojo. It didnt take me long to realize that we had found the perfect Martial Arts experience. Master Doss title fits him to a T. Not only is he a Martial Arts Master, but he is a Master of working with his kids. He truly cares about the kids, and incorporates fun into the class. He has high expectations/goals for his students, but he knows how to help them get there without being overly strict or harsh. I have seen so much growth in my grandson and he absolutely loves being there. And one of my biggest fears, that he would be using what he learned inappropriately, has NEVER happened. A couple of months after he started going, I was picking him up from daycare. I said we need to get moving, dont want to be late for Martial Arts. His teacher looked at me and said oh, is he taking Martial Arts classes? I had no idea. I said yes he has been for a couple of months, and the fact that you had no idea is a good thing. This meant that he not was showing off, nor was he was using his new found skills inappropriately, because nobody knew. This meant that he truly had learned the respect, self confidence and awareness that I was hoping for. Master Doss and Ms. Jamie are amazing, golden souls with a passion for working with and helping their kids and families achieve their goals. And I cannot say enough good about the other parents that bring their children, its not clicky (like some parent groups can be). I feel like I won the lottery when I took my grandson through those doors, and it feels like family. If you are seeking a Martial Arts program you must check Impact out. I guarantee that you will not regret it.

Master Doss is amazing with them and I love that he really takes the time to get to know the kids, and their families. If youre thinking about enrolling your child here, dont hesitate any longer because this program is not only great for your kids self esteem but also builds a stronger parent/child relationship. Im loving all the hugs I get from my boys now!

1. Master Doss is great with the smaller kids. No disputing that. He knows how to peacefully get them to stop being rowdy and teach them critical information in martial arts for their ages.2. This rating is for the time I was there, around last fall-winter.I gave a two star rating because at this point in his business, he had little teenagers, no adults, and probably less small kids in his classes, and because of the lessened amount, he would blame his unsuccessfulness on the teens that were there who volunteered at the classes for smaller kids. I was one of the few that stuck by Master Doss until the end. Personally, if it werent for that and another certain incident, I wouldve given it 4 stars, being that getting into tournaments was not an option. The other incident am talking about is when a kid faked an injury, and he refused to call for help. Regardless of the injury being faked, it was clear from that, knowing at the time it was believed it was a true injury, he had little regard for the older kids safety. I know things may have changed since then, but I stand firm in when I say its great in the beginning until somebody gets hurt. He continues to call me despite the very obvious cues I give to not want to be a part of his program. Keep in mind this is nearly a year after I left, and the first time he got in contact again was around a week and a half ago. Please stop calling me Steve. Im 17 and I know how you work. This is manipulative and asking me to take down a review because your business might hurt is not going to happen, the review is the consequence of your actions during the 3 months I attended class.

Our four year old daughter has been going to IMPACT for several months now and loves it! We like the smaller class sizes, and the available evening class times. Since staring at IMPACT martial arts we have definitely seen an overall improvement in our daughters behavior both at home and at school. I highly recommend IMPACT for anyone looking to start their children in martial arts.

Master Doss is a phenomenal martial arts instructor. He is able to guide large groups of children and instill discipline and instruction to them easily. His guided respect for both the art and the parents is an excellent example for the children. Both my 4-year-old boy and 6-year-old girl have been going to him for about a year.

Steve is a phenomenal instructor and someone that I have trusted for over five years. What separates him from other martial arts instructors is his ability to deconstruct the complex in a way that makes it simple for a non-professional to understand and replicate. Steve makes my private lessons not only intense, but fun. We laugh a lot as we work hard! I highly recommend him for private self-defense instruction.

Weve been going to Impact for a few months now. We took a break during covid but were back. Its a safe way for the kids to interact and have fun with other kids. They get that outlet that they typical would have gotten at school. We noticed theyre more focused at home. Theyre also more confident and man do they sleep better. Master Doss is a pleasure and great with the kids. Hes consistent and helps reinforce our teaching of respecting others. If your looking for a physical activity for your kids thats safe, useful and life long, try Impact. You wont be disappointed.

We recently joined Impact and I can already tell that it has made a positive impact in my 4 year old. It is a great outlet for energy while encouraging manners, confidence, focus, fitness and respect. It was one of the only martial arts classes that I could find that is willing to instruct younger children. Master Doss is great with the kids, he has a calm personality but also expects the children to follow instructions and be respectful while still having fun. Which is a #1 in my book! I look foward to many more great experiences at Impact!

As a 20+ year Martial artist. I wish I had not waited so long to step into a proper Karate School. This school is the best I have ever attended. They have a kid program that is so much better than where the kids were before. They get that they are teaching kids, not adults. Used to have to force the kids to go to old school. Now they want to go everyday!

My son is 5 years old and he absolutely loves his karate class with impact martial arts. Mr. Jordan is an amazing instructor. He keeps the kids motivated and teach them discipline and respect while having a blast in a fun class. They offer classes every day for 30 minutes which makes it super convenient for working moms. They also offer you the choice to workout next door at impact strong while your kid is in class. I have tried so many different studios and activities for my son and this place is for sure one of a kind. I highly recommend it.

Joining Impact Martial Arts was a great decision for our family. Our child has learned so much about the sport and about respectful behaviors. The owner and instructors do a wonderful job keeping the kids actively engaged during every class. The learning is structured to be age appropriate (non-contact) and to build a foundation for more advanced movements/actions. This has been a very positive experience for us.

I received my black belt from Steve Doss in 2009. I could not be more grateful for the opportunities and benefits that I have now been given in my everyday life due to the instruction motivation and inspiration by Steve. Not only do I run a local kickboxing gym I also run my own personal training business only because of the skills and concepts I have obtained from Impact Martial Arts. Confidence and Discipline among many other skills and assets are not always self built but are things I have taken away from this wonderful black belt curriculum. Thanks for all that you do Impact Martial Arts!

Honestly, I was apprehensive to take any classes for martial arts and Krav Maga. Im an out of shape, middle aged woman who has disabilities. Not only did I immediately feel welcomed and comfortable in the class, but Master Doss is more than able to teach me techniques that work around my physical limitations. The classes are actually really fun and laid back.Seriously though, I learned several easy self defense techniques within the first 2 classes. Each class, Master Doss teaches us new techniques and/or reviews previous ones.Bonus: Ive lost weight, gained confidence, and I really enjoy learning everything.Classes are in the evening, 7pm to 8pm, so its great for people who work a 9 to 5 job.I love it so much, I now take one of my older kiddos with me, so we can learn together and practice at home. The monthly fee is actually a really great deal. Comes out to about $10 a class. Which is nothing compared to the knowledge and skill that you gain. The Gi and gear are reasonably priced as well :)

Hands down one of the best karate schools in town for kids. After researching and touring a few different schools in South Austin we decided Impact was the best choice. Mr. Doss and Jordan have an excellent manner of training kids and actually get them to retain what they are learning. The school is a good balance of the traditional martial arts and modern self defense techniques. In other words your kids will learn to actually defend themselves and not just learn showy forms, flashy kicks and katas. This was a big point for me as a former martial arts student that has seen the good and bad sides of a few different schools while in the military. We made the tough decision to pull our child from another karate school he had been studying at for over a year but just wasnt growing as a martial artist. Four weeks into classes at Impact Martial Arts and my childs confindence and skill level have advanced significantly in a short time. Amazing what the right guidance, motivation and instruction can do.
