Let me preface this review by saying that my son has always hated going to daycare/preschool. Weve relocated to different cities many times over the last few years and hes hated every. single. place. Until Stepping Stone School! He actually loves going every morning and when we pick him up, he tells us about how much fun he had during the day. He adores his teacher, Ms. Maria and she is SO patient with him (hes hyperactive). She really caters to his unique needs. Its such a wonderful feeling knowing that your child is having a pleasant time when youre not around. Now let me tell you why I personally love this school:When we were interviewing for a school, Stepping Stone Shoal Creek stood out because of how professional and friendly they were. The principal Misti Huckabay was very quick to respond with all of our questions over the phone and even follow up questions via email. Because theyre taking all of the precautions they can, she gave us a virtual tour of the school, which I really appreciated. I believe now they are offering tours after hours too! When it comes to COVID safety, theyre top notch. Masks are required by every adult picking up and dropping off. Temp checks are made for children AND their parent/guardians before the children are allowed inside. Hand sanitizer, sanitized pens, and alcohol wipes are provided for the Drop Off/Pick Up log table. The staff also wear masks all day. And if I remember correctly, we were told that they also host older children in a classroom who are doing virtual learning so that they dont have to do it from home! But my child is not yet in kinder, so I cant tell you what that is like.I also really appreciate that the teachers take pictures + videos of the children to share through out the day with you via a secure app that they will give you access to. 99% of the time youll get 2 updates a day!The teachers will also give you a run down of the days activities through the app after you pick up your child. Something very unique is that they will point out what each activity fosters. For example, I have an entry that says [name], [name], [name] worked on architecture, Frontal lobe development and creative expression when they built a house with spaghetti along with a picture of them doing the activity! Some other notable activities include learning Spanish and time spent learning on the computer!Anyway, long story short: Our family loves this school. Im so down about having to leave (were relocating AGAIN).If youre looking for a new school for your child, your search stops here, I can promise you that.

I have taken my daughter to Stepping Stone since she was an infant, a little over a year now. All the teachers have been great. She started off with Ms.Keri and Ms. Jessica, both of which went above an beyond making sure Brooke was happy, playing, and learning all the time. Ms Adriana was awesome in that class as well. They knew her from day one and I always loved seeing them in there at the end of the day. Moving into her current class, Ms Flor is hands down one of the best teachers in the school. My daughter loves her and looks for her as soon as we get in the classroom. Ms Flor does all the little girls hair and sings songs and definitely teaches all the kids patience and understanding. She always knows when my daughter fell asleep, when she woke up, if she ate all her lunch, how long she played for, I feel great knowing Ms Flor is watching my daughter throughout the day. Ms V and Ms Rosie are fantastic, just another reason my daughter goes in smiling and leaves smiling everyday. If it werent for this great bunch of ladies I would pull my hair out stressing about how she is doing while I am at work. Thank you Shoal Creek team!! -Ashlee

After our beloved nanny transitioned to a different profession, we were anxious about sending our 10 month old to his first daycare. Our anxiety lessened after Chelsea gave us a professional, yet warm and informative tour of the facility. We were impressed by the different rooms, outdoor spaces (it has a pool!), cleanliness, posted lesson plans and goals, and were surprised to learn they also served snacks and meals from the onsite kitchen. (No more packing lunch boxes! YES.)Of course, there were tears from our son his first couple of days when we dropped him off. The transition from leaving home and going into a new environment always results in some reactions. The teachers went out of their way to give him comfort and getting pictures from the classroom throughout the day reassured us that he was indeed having a good time and was in good hands. That was what touched us most about our time at Stepping Stone Shoal Creek: knowing that our son was sincerely loved and cared for by his teachers and the administrators. From the sunny greeting from Misti at the front desk, to the welcoming and reassuring arms of Marlene when he first arrived in class— he was always given such warmth and comfort (including from Monica and Delaine when they would step in to help during the day). His teacher Barbara was especially wonderful with him. Our son took to Barbara like she was family and we were equally impressed with her ability to make him feel safe and have fun while learning. When we would pick him up, he would at times not want to leave if he was busy with an activity near Barbara and would blow her good-bye kisses as we left. It melted us to see him so happy. She was fabulous with him. When we needed to move to a different school for family reasons (not at all related to our time at Stepping Stone), there were tears, but this time from from us (and from Marlene and Barbara as they were sad to see him go). It was hard to leave Stepping Stone on Shoal Creek because we truly felt like our son had a great experience and learned so much while having a good time there. The balance between the professionalism and thorough communication provided by the administration with the warmth, patience, and hardworking teachers in the classroom made our time at Stepping Stone a positive and recommended experience.

I love Stepping Stone! My baby boy has been going there since he was 3 months (now 16 months). The staff there are all amazing. Its pretty interesting, as you see how different the teachers are from room to room. The infant room with Ms. Eleanor and Ms. Jordin was great. Ms. Eleanor is super loving and encouraging--she absolutely adored my baby and he adores her just the same. Ms. Jordin is so great at giving her own verbal reports when I would pick him up after work. Although I missed a few of his milestones, the teachers would keep me up to date!My boy has gone through a few classroom transitions, and the staff have been great at accommodating and making sure any issues are addressed. My boys currently in the Puffins classroom and he loves his teacher Ms. Flor. Shes so energetic and fun. He loves the free Opus One music program and I delight in getting to see the pictures and videos of him dancing and playing with his friends. I think that my child has learned compassion and also various skills through the teachers and through observing his classmates. I feel completely at ease with him being at Stepping Stone!
