About a year ago I had a conversation with a friend about what are the best martial art styles in the MMA world. Then I remembered an article in a magazine about a unique Russian style called Systema. I searched YouTube, watched some videos and then did a local search to see if I find someone who teaches it. This is how I find Technon Tactical. I remember my first days in the old location we had an indoor shooting house and we set different scenarios which was when you arrive late night to a motel to spend the night there, and on the way to your room you encounter some guys at the door and also inside the building. Some of them was acting friendly, some of them was just yelling, or others tried to attack you. It was an awareness drill and also how you react in different situations. I never find a martial art school before that was this realistic and I didnt even mention the drills when you have to react under stress and also learn knife defense, gun disarming, facing multiple attackers and tactics etc. Systema and the Israeli martial art Kapap are principle based and practical, and easy to learn by anyone. I highly recommend the regular training and also the seminars.

I started Systema slightly over a year ago, it took me a while to find a martial art that is not a belt $$$$ eater , (where they do not teach the proper fundamentals to defend yourself). I got to Systema by research, what I found out is that it is an Old Russian style of fighting, it was re-born not to long ago and that my teacher is a 2nd generation . The next question I had is why Systema, I found in my research that the Spetznas (Russian Special Forces) train with it, and I figure if they can do that it should have a very good application for self defense which is my goal in a civilian life; I saw several videos in You Tube, now I am concern as they do not look real, people falling down from a strike that looks harmless and with no power; the only way to clear these doubts was to assist to one or several classes , I arrived with my son they were working with knifes, everyone was doing the same drill, the hour and half passed very to fast, what impressed me is that even though I have never done a self defense class , I was learning from day one something new and practical; I thought it may be a fluke,let us go to a second class, the same happened I learned something else, the drill even though it may have been the same it was more complex; then I decided that this was what I was looking for. There is no easy way out , this is a full contact no gear martial art, the teachers most of them have a very interesting back rounds. In addition they have seminars with Internationally well known specialist, like Martin Wheeler (check him out in you tube and national geographic documentary on hand to hand combat); I found what I was looking for, if you are looking for that real self defense program no bs, come take some classes and make your mind whether it is for you or not.
