I asked for honey blonde highlights with my natural hair color as the base....and now my hair is gray. My forehead is also dyed brown because of some runaway dye that she used to dye my base color darker (not at all what I asked for but by the time I realized what she was doing, she was already halfway through)Very disappointed is an understatement. This experience took 5 hours and cost $150. What a waste of time and money.I get its a learning experience for the students, but only come here if youre prepared to have all your expectations turned upside down (in a very bad way). Also yes, this is how she styled it afterwards. The waves werent coming out with the round rush and the blow dryer, so she just paddle brushed it until it was damp and frizzy and really let me leave like that. I was so over the experience by the time I was checking out that I lied and said I loved it and walked out the door holding in tears. Thanks Aveda for an unforgettable experience.

I booked an Shampoo , Blow out , and trim today . When I got to my appointment , the man teacher told me “They were not able to do my hair today because I am natural & of the time “ I explained to the man teacher that I communicated that before I even booked my appointment because I know sometimes it may take a little longer to do natural hair but it shouldn’t take that much longer . My appointment was for 3:45 pm and if the Salon closes at 5:30 . I’m not understanding why would it take longer than that to do a shampoo , blow out , and trim . . If the student/teacher needs to know if clients are natural or not , that should be put in the booking info , when it is sent to them. This is such an inconvenience to me because now I have to call and drive around Baton Rouge & see if anybody can do my hair

I go to Aveda about 4 times a year to get my hair trimmed and flat-ironed mostly. I am relaxed BUT natural women are always there when I go getting a silk press, finger coils, or twists(3b-4c). Recently I went there for a routine trim and blowdry. I had a beautiful lady named Brandi. She did an amazing job and was very personable, asking what is my normal routine, what products I enjoy from Aveda, and keeping me informed of everything she was doing. Brandi trimmed my hair beautifully, and I will be requesting her again.

The 2 people who was working on my hair was amazing, friendly person, just didnt know how to start my hairstyles but when they started they did amazing job n I love my hair! But they are to slow it took 4hrs both time to do my 💇I even tip the lady who was doing my hair $5 she was amazing! And great prices! I will be coming back to try one more time!

As a college student it is hard to find a place that cuts/trims for a reasonable price. However, I highly recommend Aveda!I have learned a few tricks in order to get the best out of my trip. I typically schedule my appointment online, and get a text reminder about it the day before. I always request a master student, and I generally try to go in with the mind set that these are students too, and its just a haircut. If you are looking for a color or true salon experience, I would keep in mind that the process will probably be longer than other places because you have someone who is practicing what theyre learning. My typical cut lasts about an hour. This whole time includes the student consulting with the instructor what it is I would like done with my hair, the instructor approving, and getting me to sign that I agree. Then I get my hair shampooed and conditioned, and then cut, and then typically the blow dryer hits the hair to see the end product. Finally, the instructor comes back to make any final touch ups, if needed (and this has usually only happened for a loose hair, once). Then I am on my way -- well, they show me the products that were used and I love getting the travel sized ones!I hope this helps!

The students are eager to learn and always do a great job. With the help of their instructors, I always get a great cut. When a student is getting ready to graduate, he/she will refer you to another trusted and talented student for the next visit. The cost for a hair is inexpensive in relation to salons in and around Baton Rouge. My son also uses this salon and he has gone from a rstraggly looking kid to a handsome, well-groomed young man (it helps when there are a lot of pretty young ladies!). Great place to get a high-end cut for a bargain price.

I used to use this school to cover my gray hair but whenever they raised their prices I quit. I wish that the powers that be would realize that this is still a SCHOOL and these are just STUDENTS.How ridiculous to charge high end salon prices. I always thought the students were very nice but the management was ALWAYS snotty. I always liked their colors and the products are good but I changed to another school and am very satisfied. I get my hair colored for $20.00, instead of the $32.00 and up they are now charging.

0 stars! I was not pleased with my experience at Aveda at all. I am even upset that I had to pay for my haircut. I went in for just a trim with a student and after we had discussed I wanted one inch off from the bottom and that I was okay with layers on the top, the instructor even came over and signed it off. My hair was originally down to the middle of my back. The whole time I was in the chair the student kept saying how dead my hair was. When she turned me around in the chair when she was finished she told me I know I cut a lot, but it had to be done. My hair is now a little below my shoulders. She completely made her own call and chopped my hair off. I am completely dissatisfied with my hair cut and I am devastated that my hair had been cut so drastically. Never again will I go back for any of their services!

This review is for students.I do not recommend Aveda and suggest you look at John Jay or Paul Mitchell. I am a students mother. Kathy is the director and my daughter completed the courses and graduated but can not take the state board bc Kathy wants a zero balance, even though the school could have worked out a payment plan for my daughter. Bottom line. they are all about money and not the student and their future. As it stands based only daughters earnings she will not begin her profession anytime soon and they could care less. There were also many other problems like my daughters supplies kit stolen and the fact that she was bullied, the whole thing was a bad experience and I do NOT recommend this school to other students or students parents out there searching.

Go anywhere but here if you truely have a passion for beauty , they drained my passion away by being as inconsiderate as imaginable when I fell ill, they lied and said they offered me leave when I BEGGED every person in a position of power in that building for a leave. Now they are trying to withdraw me from school saying they never received any of my documents from me being sick or appointments. Then used me and my situation for a joke , and cautionary tale to scare the other students. I still cannot believe that these people use these tactics to purposely discourage someone who is already dealing with unfortunate circumstances. This school has caused me so much stress I went weeks at a time with headaches, then to be told that I was offered an option to take leave by a woman and direct mrs. Shannon, and did not take it is really disheartening. DO NOT GO TO AVEDA THESE PEOPLE ARE CRIMINALS.

Haircut was great pedicure was horrible! I made an appointment for a 75 minute pedicure. First of all you sit on a bench that is not comfortable and jets did not work in foot tub. I had to ask if he was going to cut my toenails because one was very uneven. The people sitting next to me got each of their wrapped in towels, I had both of my feet wrapped in one. The people next to me got legs rubbed with lotion not me. I had polish all over my feet and had to ask if he could clean my toes up and that was not done. My big toe got messed up when guy was putting on my shoe, he was going to just put paint over messed up toe, I had to ask him to take the polish off and paint again.I will have to go tomorrow and get another pedicure! I wasted my money at Aveda today.

Incredibly rude. My sister and I were going to get a wash and blow out. She went first, so that she could watch the kids for me while I went next. I signed in with her and walked next door to get my kids ice cream. I got back and wanted to wait on her to be finished. I was hoping to use the restroom to wash my hands since they were sticky from ice cream. But the man at the front was incredibly snooty and asked if the children were mine and wouldnt give me a straight answer as to where the restroom was. So I walked out and found a different restroom. To make things worse because my sister waited to be taken back to her appointment, I missed mine (schedule 1 hour later).

Ive used aveda ii Lafayette and always had awesome experiences. First time going to this location and was totally disappointed. Most of the students walked around discussing what they felt they should be tipped, which to me is very unprofessionalI realize you want tips, but you the students needs to realize you are still in school. Youre there to learn the profession. Tips are a bonus, they should not be expected nor should the service you provide be based off of the tip you are expecting. My stylist was more concerned with her lunch break then doing My hair as I wanted. It took me nearly having a tantrum to get them to trim the front to the length I wanted. Hello, Im paying you to cut my hair the way I request, not the way you want. Highlights and a cut took over 4 hours..and I was taken to the chair within 5 mins of signing in. My husbands stylist was more concerned with her tip than she was with his haircut. The prices are excellent, the service not so much. I will make the hour plus drive to return to Lafayette before using this location again. Very disappointed. One student walked right into me, knocked My foot of the foot rail and never even said excuse me. But I have come to expect poor customer service in baton rouge, seems to be a trend here.

Horrible! I walked away with an uneven haircut and thin lines for eyebrows. The student was rude, constantly cutting her eyes at me for some reason and she barely spoke 2 words during the entire service. Plus, the instructor that gave her blessing to the uneven haircut didnt even supervise/mentor the student on the brow wax and didnt bother to check off on this service.Afterwards, I approached a different instructor for assistance with my uneven haircut and she graciously cut my hair again to make it even. A nicer student with a pleasant attitude was kind enough to allow me to use her blow dryer to finish drying my wet hair afterwards. However, neither this kind instructor nor another instructor, that approached us and heard my story too, offered me any type of consolation for my botched haircut, unfinished blow out, or for my botched eyebrow waxing service - I paid full price for horrible service :(

If I could less than 1 star I would. I was offered a free hair color which is awesome. Being a single mother of 5, I never get to pamper myself. Whenever I arrived with my kids, the woman at the desk says I need to find someone to watch my kids because they arent allowed in there. I asked for a manager, explained the situation, she said not her problem its policy, pointed to a sign that said no unsupervised children. A place that sees more woman than anything else, but isnt child friendly is ridiculous. Then the people are so very rude!

Had an appt for 1:30. Hair not even washed by 2:30. So having a doctors appt for 3:00 I said forget the cut I’ll just do the tx. But I’m still charged the same amount because they washed my hair. The students just talk and chat and are super slow. I used to like coming here but won’t be coming back anymore. Now my hair looks horrible headed to doctor and have to find somewhere else to cut my hair which will probably take forever to get in.

My hair experiences are great but the bigger issue is the lack of respect for cultural hair. They dont teach about it anyone other than a black girl has no idea what to do. The base price for service is $20 for a wash and style which only suites white womenbecause they are the only ethnicity to come and get a blow dry without a heat service. This lets me know that Im not being considering in this salon. Corporate needs to start improving their policies Ive been a customer for 7 years whether it be in louisia a or in florida and finding out that this information about how things are priced and what they ate not taught about ethnic hair is very upsetting and to be honest if the change isnt made very loyal customers will leave. The school has too many ethnic students for you guys mot to teach them about their own hair.

The wemon in that place are some kind of rude. oh my gosh i could not belive some of the smart sassy things that were said under their breath like i couldnt hear them saying the things they were snickering about. i must say how rude they were to me and to eachother. Over all it was a nice clean place. However my boyfriend and I asked for specific things to be done to my hair, and by the end of the day when my hair was done it did not match my discription i asked for. i wanted dark brown hair all over with blond highlights near the ends of my hair. they did not even get close to what i wanted. instead they had three different people cutting coloring washing my hair. so i think somewhere betweeen the three girls my color and style was misunderstood. i ended up with brown on top and solid blond on all of my ends. actually mostly blond and just the top brown. so now it looks like have really long roots that needs to be recolored. im not happy with my experiance and will not ever go there again. also the worst psrt of it all was the price they charged me. $115.00 is a little rediclious for a color and trim. and sence ive been seen by a few friends they say that i didnt even get enough of my tips cut off and that it needed to be trimmed again.

I went to Aveda in December because I wanted to get my hair straighten after being natural for a little over one year. Ive been going to Aveda since last summer, and I did like the service, but this particular service was not done well. I noticed that while the lady was straightening my hair, she kept playing on my phone. She also did not straighten my hair all the way to the root, leaving it very kinky and straight on the top. My hair did not last more than 1 and a half weeks. Which was unfortunate because they overcharged me for it ($60). I could have went to a natural hair salon and paid the same price and they wouldve gotten my roots. Anyways, they sent me on my way with a free shampoo and blow out, which Im not going to use now - let me tell you why. I sprayed my hair with water to revert it back to normal and my hair literally smelled like it was burning. It smelled so bad, that people could smell it in the other room. I shampooed the hair and it still smelled burnt. Then I had to go to the store to buy some Shea Moisture shampoo with Apple Cider Vinegar and I was able to get the smell out. But the damage was done - I have several pieces of long straight hair - which clashes tremendously with my short kinky, fine hair. I used to be able to wear my hair out in an afro, and now I cant. I cant even go back to get it fixed, because I feel like the students there are not trained on how to do natural hair. My hair would not look like this if she used a heat protectant and if she didnt turn the heat on high. Im very disappointed in the service and I cannot get this fix because I dont have the money for it.Im still dealing with the effect 2 months later and Aveda did not have the courtesy to refund me OR call me back about this after I left a review on their website. So Im leaving this review here AND a google review. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE NATURAL HAIR!!!!

BEFORE I BEGIN I WANNA SAY SOMETHING REAL QUICK .. IF YOU’VE HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE AT AVEDA GO TO PAUL MITCHELL ITS ABOUT 5 MINUTES AWAY FROM AVEDA AND THE SERVICE IS 110% BETTER . Anyways I called asking to get my hair dyed , i told them my hair is natural and i wanted burgundy. The receptionist said it was going to be $42. She did not question me any further or ask if my hair was black/brown. I come in to check in and they still did not say anything about my hair color. This isn’t my first time coming there, they usually give me a African American person but this time they gave me a caucasian person to do my hair . Anyways , I sit down , show her the color, and tell her what i want . She calls her supervisor , another white person, and she come and feels on my hair and ends up charging me $104 because it needed to be “lifted” meaning bleached so the color i wanted could show . This was not my first time coming there , the last time i came a black woman lifted it and dyed it and it was still $42 plus tax. I’m very disappointed because i wanted to do something different to my hair , i’d just taken a sew in out the day before and it was still fresh so I could have worn it for another 2 weeks. If i would have known that this would’ve happened today i would still have my sew in in. If i could rate this a negative rating i would . Never coming here again .

I had the most worst experience I ever had. I started off getting a semi- color, a deep condition and flat Iron. I was told it wad $82 because i was getting it blow dry and flat iron I then asked if she colud roller set it due to it was raining and that was too much.First the student stated that she did not know how to roll my hair so, the instructor did it for her. She took me from under the dryer and took out the rollers, the back of my hair was not dry. The instructor then blow dried my hair straight and the top was full of curls. So the student then tried to curl it with a flat iron. It was a mess. I was so upset I was ready to go. I went to the desk and was still charged $82, i told her i didnt get my whole head flat iron she stated it cost more to roll your hair than to blow dry and flat iron. It was not my fault that my hair wasnt complely checked before i was taken from under the dryer. This was the worst experience I ever had. I could have had my hair done at a professional Solon for that amount of money. They have lost my business and I will share my experience.
