I purchased the groupon for my haircut with luxury treatment. Its worth $39 and it includes hair wash, haircut and blow dry. Its very over priced as compared to their regular prices which is $15 for a hair cut and hair wash. While scheduling a appointment, I requested them for a level 2 professional but I ended with level one. The receptionist promised me that she is one of the best hair stylist, though I was ready to pay extra for the level 2 professional. I grew my hair over past 10 months to get a good haircut with 4-5 layers. After 2 hours of haircut, my hair was short and my layers are completely diagonal. I paid $45 (with tip) for my hair cut. I deeply regret for choosing this salon. My family and friends could able to notice the weird haircut for which I paid $45. I have a great smooth hair and any normal salon could do a better job than this.

I purchased a Groupon for a highlight, cut, & thermal style for $39 which is a great deal; however, you get what you pay for. :( My appointment was set for 9:30am, didnt walk out until 2:10pm. With almost 5 hours of service, my hair should have been perfect. I will now have to go to another stylest to get my cut fixed, which by the way was mostly done by the instructor so this is very concerning on what these students are paying for and what kind of education they are actually receiving. I found that the instructors were not proactive with the students; instead reactive. They werent watching and guiding. It was more of....let you work and when you mess it up, we will do our best to fix it. The only reason I am giving two stars is because my student hairdresser was extremely nice, trying very hard and I knew she was nervous. I do not blame her at all but more of the school and instructors.See photo below. I have some hair longer than the other and also my cut flows from right to left in a downward motion. Very sad when my coworker points it out to me as well. I was hoping no one would notice before I got it corrected.

Been going here about a year & I luv it! Always a warm welcome & remembered as a regular customer. Personal treatment. Very willing to please. Supervisor s great! Students are really great about seeking help if needed. Great atmosphere!!! Beautiful salon. I cant say enough about the awesome experience!

Scarlett was the stylist assigned to me and she was amazing! She really listened closely to exactly what I wanted and then planned out every step necessary to achieve those results. I knew that what I was asking for would not be easily attainable, but she saw it through to the end and I LOVE it! Scarlett and Ms. Dee were attentive and a delight to work with. I would recommend Scarlett to anyone either needing a simple haircut or the most difficult style/highlight/color/etc. Scarlett was very professional and enthusiastic. Thanks Scarlett for all you did, you really made my day so much brighter!

I have left 6 messages now over a two week span for admissions. I received two call backs that I missed last week from a different location. I called back the toll free number again as instructed and once again the voicemail. I stated I was calling about more info for Baton Rouge. I asked for Allie whom had finally returned my calls of 4 messages. This is not counting how many times I have called without leaving a message. This week I have called again 3 times. Does the school not need or want students? I am so confused as to why no one answers the phone. I have never had this issue with any school before. For a school that teaches others about customer service for clientele you would think that would be what’s shown. I even tried getting someone on guest services to answer and yet the machine. Also the machine says they close at 5 and this says 5:30? Either way I have called so many times I give up. I also did request info through the website and nothing. Nada.

Okay so, let me preface this by saying I have never been to a hair salon/studio in my life. My coloring experience consisted pretty much entirely of box-dyes that were done on my head by my loving mother, which is a pretty tough standard to beat. On a whim to celebrate the end of my summer internship in Baton Rouge I decided to go all out and get my hair done professionally. I saw a Groupon for Vanguard and the rest was history. Based on their website they do a lot more than just cut, dye, and dry to boot!The very first leg of my journey was with Robert, who handled my appointment setting and questions. A sweeter person managing the phones I have rarely met. Robert you are a gem!! I cannot wait to hear or see your adventures in barbering (is that a word?) when you move on to your own studio. Robert also informed me about how Paul Mitchell got their start and that they are a humanitarian company, which made me feel even better about trusting my hair to their students. Robert set me up for an appointment with Megan, touted as a hair-colorista-pro-to-be.As soon as I walked in the doors (a bit early) I was greeted warmly and taken care of very quickly by the nice lady at the front desk. I got to meet Megan and tell her a little bit about what I wanted to do with my hair. Keep in mind, my hair is thick and there is a lot of it. Its never been bleached, and so what I wanted to do was an uphill battle. At first it seemed like all hope was lost: my hair was fighting the bleach. But one of the great things about Megan is that she works REALLY DARN HARD to make your hair dreams a reality (which in my case, was fiery orange hair). She works so hard in fact, that she did not give up on my hair even though the act of putting it through an ombré alone took almost 3 hours due to the length. Megan brings her personality to her work too, and it shines. SHE GIVES THE BEST SCALP MASSAGE IVE EVER HAD. If I could learn how to wash my own hair as well as she does Id be in cloud 9 every day. Plus, she made that developer DO SOME WORK. Now keep in mind, the more hair you have, the more product will need to be used, and that may incur some additional fees. BUT I WANTED THIS SO MUCH I WAS READY TO PAY THOSE FEES FOR BEAUTIFUL ORANGE HAIR!!!By hour 6 or 7 it was all hands on deck with my hair: blow drying and dye was a two person job. It was so fascinating to hear the technical knowledge and kind skill being shared around me by the professionals to their students. Amanda and Donna, the teachers, both took personal time on my head among many others and just contributed overall to an awesome experience. Miss Donna is incredibly good at brushing hair, among other skills. She taughy me some new techniques for how to safely brush my own hair!I felt (and feel) so beautiful and pampered, it really was a transformative experience. You cant go wrong with this place if you have the time to sit with the stylist: you will also learn a lot about how to care for your hair and meet some great people. I told Megan I would return to Baton Rouge when she graduates, though I am from Dallas. 😀I ended up buying the color repair quinoa spray to take care of my hair and it smells so nice. It helps a lot with the new texture! In my opinion its better to get it directly from the pros than somewhere like Ulta.What a fine group of hair professionals and budding professionals here at Vanguard, I am so grateful for your hard work. THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!! Dont hesitate to go to Vanguard and ask for Megan. 😊

I have called five times in the last week because I’d like to make an appointment for services. I have left three messages and NO ONE has returned my call. I don’t get it. The message sounds like they are still in business. What is going on? How did they receive so many good reviews? How did you get appointments?

Really disappointed... I’ve been coming here for years And was always satisfied. The quality of the education and people they have now is bad compared to what it used to be. I went in the salon with already lightened hair and wanted more highlights. The staff were friendly, but the girl that did my hair ruined it. She covered my entire head in bleach and fried my hair. I cried when I left. I called and requested a refund, but they did nothing. The girl never even consulted an instructor my entire visit. Now my hair is ruined. Never going back again, nor will I recommend.

My Daughter and I have been going here for years and I must admit it is a fantastic place with excellent service. Their products agree amazingly with our hair and looks great in the outcome. The students there provide and give a friendly and happy atmosphere with smiles and loving attitudes, my daughter and I can truly tell they enjoy what they do and take pride in their work. Things are done in an Above Standard and Timely manner. I would recommend Paul Mitchels products and school to any family, friend, or stranger. Thank You Paul Mitchel!

This is my second visit here. I find the oeople very nice and professional. I like the way they listen to what you want and give their input also. The prices are amazing. I brought my daughter with me this time and she was thrilled! I think my experience her is the same if not better as an actual salon. I like the way its laid back. The people really try to make you happy. I really like the products too.

Choosing Vanguard of Baton Rouge was definitely a life changer in a positive way. The great environment and the love of the culture has opened my shell and Im so ready to begin my career. I definitely feel that Im ready because of the amazing staff and learning leaders, also with the help of the awesome students that attend. The love and passion throughout the school is what affected my decision to choose this school and it was a great one. My favorite memory was joining phase two. It was great being apart of the honors program, but what made it even more special was the learning leader Ms. Amanda. She helped with every question and concern that I had, even though I may have asked the same question 20 times. Phase two has so much team work, and it sprouted my love for hair.

I have gained much more than an education from this school. You will not find another program with such an amazing culture, its like a big family. The learning leaders are amazing and are always willing to go above and beyond to see you perform at your very best. I feel like my education was truly valued by the team at Vanguard.

I attended Vanguard Paul Mitchell for a year & 3 months. It was the most beneficial journey I have ever had. The learning leaders are obsessed with helping the future professionals grow & learn . The atmosphere of the school will definitely speak volume as soon as you step one door into it . Vanguard will help you become a better you, not only in hair, but I life. There will be wonderful things happen to you here . You will meet great and loving people at Vanguard who will be more than delighted each and everyday to help assist in your needs . Vanguard will become like family. Best cosmetology school ever !

Not impressed. I brought in a pic of the cut I wanted, but said I would be happy with just one inch off the bottom. Supervisor said she didn’t need to see the pic and told the student to do the round cut. Student took over an hour to cut my hair round, like a bowl. The supervisor never showed up again, not even to grade the cut and style. Although I think the student made an effort to do a good job, I really would have appreciated both of them just admitting that the student did not know how to do what I asked and they were looking for someone to practice the “round cut” on. I’m not usually very picky, but I was disappointed. I will not go back and cannot recommemd this facility. I love Paul Mitchell products and really expected more from a Paul Mitchell school.

I thought I was making a great choice by going here to have my hair colored for the latest techniques. My appointment was yesterday at 9:30 with a level 2 student who was extremely nice thats why I gave the 2 stars. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and asked if that was possible and she replied yes! The instructor came by I showed him the picture and they discussed on what to use on my hair. I told her from the being I dont like having red in my hair and my hair pulls red. My hair had not been colored in 4 years so that was not issue. I wanted the balayage look! Im naturally a medium to dark brown and I wanted to hide the grey hairs. After several hours later and 2 tone downs my hair still does not even look anyway close to the picture., at this point Im so upset and late for an event. My hair is basically two colors, couple inches of my natural color and gray hair and this godawful reddish looking color which they basically stripped my hair and toned it to receive this color. The instructor even said it looks good, Really! At this point Im ready to leave cause Im so upset and I trying not to show it. Now I have to pay someone else to color my hair all one color because Im ashamed of what my hair looks like and I have to spend even more money and time. Just for the record I arrived at a little before 9:30 and I didnt leave till 2:45.

My experience here at Vanguard College of Cosmetology has been great. I have never felt more at home in a school setting. The staff is wonderful and always there to help with anything needed. The teacher , or learning leaders as we call them are amazing. They truly care about what is going on and want to see you succeed in your career. I could not have asked for a better school experience.

I absolutely love this place. I always ask for Savannah. She does an amazing job every time. I change it up ever so often and she comtinu s to amaze. I was Prior Military and was in need of a military cut. They do it better than anywhere else. I stop in every two weeks. The workers, teachers, and students are so kind and very knowledgeable on their products. Highly recommended more than just 5 Stars.

Extremely friendly staff the moment you walk in to instantly make you feel comfortable and assist you in deciding the services you need without being pushy in any way. All products and services are reasonably priced, especially considering the quality of products and the time and care taken by each professional. Each style professional takes time and expresses genuine concern about your requests / needs and really go the extra mile to ensure your satisfaction. Overall a great experience and plan to continue giving them business based on a perfect first visit and an impressive, professional, and well-run operation.

This is a fun place to get your hair done. Every time I have come here Ive had a good time and my hair always came out beautifully. I highly recommend it, especially if you are a college student on a budget! The students and the teachers are very nice and are willing to help you get exactly what you want.

My time at Vanguard was an overall good experience. There were some areas where they could improve of course, such as consistency, and state board education for students. But other than that my instructors were great and I definitely have the confidence to work behind the chair with no guidance! I made lots of great friends that are like a family to me & the atmosphere here is also very positive and outgoing!! Thank you VCCBR😊

I had a great experience here! My stylist, Matt, was very knowledgeable and did a great cut and color for me. His teacher was really nice too, and it was fun learning about how to pick a proper hair color with the student. I will definitely be back!

I love this place!!!! Ashley cut and highlighted my hair. She is so sweet and very thorough. She definitely made me feel comfortable and welcome. She did such an awesome job!!!! I will definitely be going back to see her! I went back the next day to have my hair done for a really big interview and Alyssa styled my hair. She is so spunky n friendly she did such a great job in the little amount time she had. (Which I got the job) and robert..... Robert is so good at what he does. He works closely with the students to assure the customer does in fact get more than what they walked in wanting. He answers every question whether it be from the customer or the student and makes sure everyone understands exactly what they are wanting or needing to know. This place is awesome from the minute you walk in to the minute you walk out! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

About 3 months Hannah Broussard cut my hair. She did a great job and shes a great talker. I came back to get another cut and I was even more impressed than I was the first time. I am moving to Hammond but will definitely make the trip back just to get my hair cut by her again. Very satisfied customer.

I called and left a voicemail and no on returned my call. Then I called and no one answered the phone, so I was a walk-in at 4:00 and the lady at the front desk said her last appointment was at 3:00 and would not take me or my son to just get a trim. I said I thought it closes at 5:30, but she just kept telling me her last appointment was at 3:00 and was not helpful.

Had a great experience. I had a stylist just about two weeks out from graduation. She also had a floor leader who helped and gave a second opinion and encouragement. I got full hi lights, a keratin treatment, and a cut. They were very accommodating to my hairs needs and helped me get exactly where I wanted. Also very clean salon. Took a little longer than other salons but worth it for the money you save!

Being a student at Vanguard has been a very memorable and exciting experience that Im glad I not only pursued but have almost completed. Between the students, staff and clients, I have met people that have not only shown me but helped me to determine that I am on the right path and this is truly my passion. With the education here, I am equipped to go out and become a well trained Hairstylist.

I made the decision to enroll at VCCBR as a part of the September 2015 class, and I have never regretted that decision. I have had so many memorable experiences, and made some long lasting friendships along the way. I made a decision that took me out of my comfort zone, that ended up leading to my favorite memory at school. Joining Phase 2 made me push myself in ways that I never thought were possible. Being a part of Phase 2 has provided me with an unlimited amount of opportunities. I did my first set of highlights while on Phase 2. I was absolutely terrified and was searching for help wherever I could find it. My instructor coached me through sectioning and application, all while my face mimicked a deer caught in headlights. My instructor wouldnt let any other student help me because she knew how empowered I would feel completing the highlights with minimal help. She was 100% right. I got so much confidence from that once service. I used to avoid highlights like the plague and now I can take on the service with confidence.

My experience at this school was beyond amazing. I moved here from North Caroline and started immediately after. They quickly become my family and gave me every educational opportunity there was! Vanguard I really enjoyed being a student here. The experience was so amazing. The learning leaders really answered all of my questions and told me how I can fix whatever the problem was. I would recommend anyone that wants to attend school to Vanguard.

Horrible I started school there and missed 21 hours in course class due to situations in life that needed to be handled I also work at waffle house 9-7 I would get off work rush my kids to school for 8 then had to be to school for 9. Had 98 hours they dropped me. Made me feel as though all the hardworking I put in wasnt worth it. I mean I understand being professional and calling in if your late and all but my uncle owns two shops I just wanted to learn what I needed to learn so I can get certified school is just too strict.! And most of the headaches I didnt need.! I wanted to be away from waffle house by next year but since they dropped me and cancelled my financial aid. I have to wait 6mths to re enroll. Like how they able to make decisions like that about your life as long as financial aid was covered and I was willing to stay longer r pay to make my hours up is what really matters.

2nd time coming to get my hair colored here. I have had wonderful experiences! The lady that worked on me was so sweet and she took a lot of time working to please me! Kristin B was awesome! I would definitely recommend them to friends,family or anyone who wants to have a great experience!

My stylist today is extremely nice and has explained everything with my services today. I love the students at this school and I enjoy coming to get my hair done every 2 months. My stylist was Ashley Roberts she did amazing with my color and style I will be coming back for services in the future.

The staff and students are very polite and positive. They gave my wife a great cut and color. Appointment time was right on time no wait. We will definitely be back for her next treatment as needed.

Being a student at Vanguard was a eye opener and made me the positive woman I am today. After attending Vanguard for 6 months I enrolled in phase 2, the honors program which gives you a more salon reality. There are many clubs to join such as Take Home, Student Council, Design Team, Social Media and many more for you become active in the school. I enjoy being on the clinic floor where I get to use my craft in making magic on every client I come in contact with. I love we have speciality where you can think outside of the box and be yourself. My most memorable moment at vanguard was doing hair for the Neon Fashion show we did for Take Home Team! It was my first time every using a vibrant color in someones hair, and I was proud of the way it came out! Other than that every moment here is amazing!

Took to long. My haircut its too short. Color is good. Too many teachers changing it up. The second teacher hacked my hair off she ruined it. Too many people cutting my hair. Not the cut I wanted. I was there for 3 and 1/2 hours.

My time at vanguard school of cosmetology was full of experiences. Many experiences had to do with leaning the trades of a cosmetologist. Many other experiences were involved around school drama, handling horrendous clientele, and messy girls. I had the time of my life and wouldnt of wanted it any other way. I made friends that will forever imprint my life. You should go here.

The environment is great. Always a clean facility. Students are all so nice and the managers are of great help to the students when needed. Will always come back and recommend to friends and family.

I asked to have bangs in the front and my hair trimmed in the back. When asked if I wanted it straight across, I replied with a distinct NO and explained that she would have to cut too much off if she did that. So now, my hair is no longer below my bra strap, it is cut STRAIGHT ACROSS at my shoulder blades! Why ask, if youre going to do what you want anyway? If you get a cut, make sure you get a second mirror and watch them like a HAWK!!!

This is my second time coming to see Makayla. She is super fun and sweet. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she produced! Very helpful with recommendations and not afraid to get a second opinion (which to me is a good thing because it means that she wants it perfect).

Few students are rude. But all the teachers I have meet are rude especially a male teacher. He was not at all cooperative. When I explained what my mom wanted this male teacher was trying to make fun of me. The receptionist is very nice and she tries to balance out the teachers misbehavior. I like the makeup of the student far better but then he came and messed up my moms look. i have been there twice and I will never make this mistake again. First time it was an okay experience but the last time it was the worse.

Great service! Students are always nice and talkative. Never had a bad experience. The teachers give great advice to the students while the hair cut is going on!

Drove 30 minutes for my appointment. Signed in and was never spoke to. After 20 minutes, I heard someone ask a lady to fill out paperwork if it was her first time so I asked for that as well. I was never addressed by anyone until my stylist came to get me. Her name was Christian and she was very nice. After 45 minutes, a lady named Amanda I formed me that they voyld not cut my hair with my child with me. She was very rude and was one of the employees at the front who had ignored me for the proceeding 40 minutes. So, over an hour of my day is wasted and I still have to get may hair cut and done for work. Amanda embarrassed me and could not have cared less that she wasted my time. I wont be back.

Everyone was so helpful and knowledge. I went for a dramatic change. Cut off 5 inches and went dark. They did an amazing job and helped me decide the best route to go to get to desired results that I wanted. I would reccomend this place to everyone!Not to mention the amazing head massage I got during the washing!

My best experience at Vanguard college of Cosmetology Baton Rouge, La was being apart of this family atmosphere. The first day I step foot on campus I was welcomed with open arms. This is my family and if I had to do it all over again I would most definitely do it.

( For those of you who are probably thinking that I was just a bad student, my averages are all over 90% including my attendance which is 101% 🤗)

I came in for a trim and highlight. This is the second time that Ive been here. The first time I used the services here I had a fabulous experience and came away feeling beautiful and confident-all for just under $50. Im a college student so that was a plus!Unfortunately, this time was not the same. The future stylist assigned to me did not seem enthusiastic or pleased that she had a client. The completed highlight and cut doesnt look bad but Im not in love with it. All together it took 5 hours to complete. I understand that these are students, but this seemed like it took way too long. In my mind, I requested almost the same services as last time and it did not take this along. My future stylist was rough with my head. Im not particularly tender headed but I had a headache from when she teased my hair and tried to brush out the tangles.My final issues involved the charges. On my previous visit, the future stylist explained out how much I would be paying and why, then asked me if it was okay. It is my fault as I could have asked, but no such procedure happened this time. Because of this I was caught by surprise when my cost came out to be $95 for services that I didnt know were happening. Again, this is my fault for not asking but it seems to be too much for a student cut that took 5 hours. I do apologize because I was short with my stylist on the way out, but I was ready to go.

I have learned and grown so much in the past year and a half and I am so grateful for my teachers and friends Ive made.Im especially grateful for my bff, Ashley, for being awesome and for pushing me to continue.My most memorable experiences have been on Phase Two. Phase Two changed my whole school experience. I love Amanda. I love the other girls on the Phase Two side. I love the whole Phase Two experience. Its really taught me a lot.10/10 would go to school here again ;D

Recently finished school here, good experience. Just passed both my written and practical exam thanks to the State Board readiness class, awesome teachers who made sure I had it and was eager to give any extra information I may have needed.

I am very pleased that I chose this school in my career path. Doing so has opened me up to so many opportunities. I was given the chance to take a trip to California, where I was able to go to the JPMS product innovation center and meet John Paul Dejoria and several other amazing people in this industry. I was really given the opportunity of a lifetime at this school. And I continue to learn and make amazing memories everyday, since enrolling here. I would highly recommend this school to anyone.

When I came in I was a mess and worried they would laugh and reject me. But rather than that they treated my hair with care until it was perfect. They didnt charge me extra at all. This school has great students as well great potential.
