We put our son in PSBJJ when he turned four. He was having problem focusing in Pre-K according to his teachers. We figured he was a four year old boy with a LOT of energy. I was skeptical at first since he was so young and everyone else was so far ahead of him. Pablo is very good for and with him. He is learning to focus and gets the direction he needs. It also helps with endless supply of energy. I have also noticed a big difference in his coordination vs other kids his age. He is five and a half now and a gray belt. I also love the fact that now I can work out while my son is training in the upstairs gym for a nominal extra fee. I would recommend PSBJJ to anyone!

As far as BJJ schools go this is a top tier one. Pablo and his students are intense and focused on positions (points) and submissions. The atmosphere is upbeat, school is inviting with its pristine white mats, weight room upstairs, lots of changing rooms and plenty of space overall.Kids program is on point. The kids are disciplined and diligent in their practice. Coaches maintain this structure and reinforce good respectful habits.This is an ideal space to learn, practice and compete BJJ.

This is my first long-term gym for BJJ, and I couldnt ask for a better group of people to train with. In both the fundamentals and competition class there are students from a wide range of backgrounds. Theyve all been welcoming and happy to share what they know, but they also bring the intensity to every training session, especially when sparring.Professor Pablo is a fantastic coach as well, offering to teach techniques that have been tested, and succeed, at high-level competition. He distills them into a way thats easy to understand and also provides the means to hone them through live rounds during competition class and drills/positional sparring in fundamentals.

I deeply enjoyed dropping in on Pablo Silvas. I had a pleasure of meeting some really great grapplers there and loved the class structure. In my visit there was a sort of first to score, wins exercise that ended with the entire class shouting and cheering on their friends who had yet to concede a point; and the sound was incredible. If I lived in Houston thats where Id want to train. If you have a white gi and are willing to dig deep, Id recommend you stop by.

I can not say enough about the high quality instruction and the reflection of positive leadership qualities demonstrated by instructors and staff. I have two sons in Pablos program and they have grown greatly during their time with him. Practice serves as training as well as developing leadership and confidence within the kids. The times for class are convenient for working parents, and the fact that Saturdays class has older kids, really inspires self-motivation and as well as dedication to growing in the sport. Pablo also shows a kind and nurturing attitude for the younger kids, while still having high expectations. I initially joined Prof. Pablos school because my young son was training there.My sons experience has been terrific. Within a few short months of starting to train when he was four, his confidence skyrocketed, he became more outgoing on the playground and more emotionally resilient in physical situations. I also noticed that his physical strength and coordination were improving faster than it had before. Its also important to note that Prof. Pablo is incredible with the kids, providing a nurturing, caring and safe environment for them to train.Seeing my sons development (and, frankly, having him comment that Daddy, youre getting a little soft in the belly) motivated me to join the school. I had no prior grappling experience and was a little apprehensive about joining. However, beginners are welcomed with open arms at Prof. Pablos school. At no point have I felt or been made to feel out of place or an inconvenience to others, even when practicing a technique for the very first time (which is most of the time, for me). Great Place, awesome environment, and beautiful facility. I would love to offer my experience here as the wife of a student, and it has been great. He gets to work out by doing bjj and I can use the extensive workout equipment on the second floor to get my own. The place is beautifully white and its very clean from the bathrooms to the second floor. My experience here has been second to none and I would recommend this place to anyone who would like to try it.

Its very difficult to add to what has already been said so well by the other students. The facilities are out of this world. The instruction and the carefully calibrated training take you places you never knew existed. As a relatively new student well into his 60s, I find Pablo Silva Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to be very challenging, both mentally and physically. But Pablo and the other students are helpful, without coddling, and there is a palpable sense of camaraderie as everyone struggles with each other and with themselves on the mat. One of Pablos longtime students once advised me to just show up. Based on what I have seen, if you just show up at Pablo Silva Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and put in the effort, you will go along way toward living up to your potential.P.S. Waiting for the evening adults class, I get to see the kids class. I cant think of a better activity for kids of all ages.

Best Jujitsu gym ever! My husband started about 2 years prior and hes in the best shape of his life. I joined a year later and its been the best thing we did for ourselves as individuals and as a couple. Jujitsu is a way of life and its benefits go beyond the physical side. Our son is now in Jujitsu too. There is no fake martial arts here, or fake boostering of ego just for sake. Its hard yet so rewarding. The people you will meet here will be your second family pushing and nurturing you on the same path. And the facility.... clean, state of the art, and hands down the best facility I have seen.All of this is all coming from a normally quiet, somewhat reclusive mother of two trying to find some healthy, physical activities to keep up beautiful husband and kids. We have been attending the school for 8 months now, my 5 year old son quickly fell in love with the sport as his all time favorite. I feel it has allot to do with the energy and love of the practice he runs. Its very quick to note that Pablo is passionate and very professional. He focuses on an orderly class that suits all his students of every age, to the best of their ability. He ensures they understand the techniques at a level, yet he is also takes the time to make the class fun if time exists at the end to squeeze in a fun game. Our 5-yr old boy has been going with Coach Pablo for over one year. We enjoyed the very well organized format and well maintained facilities. The coach and his team have the professional authority that kids will look up to since Day 1. We love the disciplined and teamed environment. Granted we know nothing about the techniques, but we are able to tell the knowledge improvement from our sons day-to-day talking. We also appreciated the coaching around Michaels emotional fluctuations - the coach is aware of his ups and downs and has been able to pick him up from his lowest moments for multiple times. I recently started Jiu Jitsu about 4 months ago, coming off of MCL surgery. I was hesitant at first, however when checking out Pablos he is very open to walk-ins and the students are extremely welcoming. I was very intimidated at first being a white belt with a bum leg, however the vibe I felt was that everyone wanted to elevate each other’s game, rather than being in it for themselves. I needed a gym that would be competitive, supportive, and inspiring. I did not find that. I found a FAMILY that was competitive, supportive, and inspiring – and of course a state of the art facility that would help his team achieve its Jiu Jitsu endeavors. With all this said, Pablo established a renowned team/family that is all hungry for a winning mentality.Not only is Pablo a coach, he is a mentor that you can look to for answers. He often compares Jiu Jitsu circumstances with real life situations and teaches his students how to surpass these dilemmas. Having come from a different martial arts school, we can feel a palpable difference between his prior school and Pablos classes. This gym is more than 5 stars worthy. It is one of the cleanest BJJ gyms I have ever been in. The upstairs has a a fully equipped weight room which is always in top shape as well. The instructor Pablo is a commander on the mats and it shows through the results of his students. I dropped in at the invitation of a friend of mine who trains at Pablo Silva BJJ HQ. The staff is friendly and the people who train there are super focused but also warm and inviting to incoming students and visitors. I would highly recommend this location to anybody looking for the best BJJ training available.

Pablo is an awesome instructor! I travel out of town a lot so I cant make a lot of classes, however when I am able to make it to class, hes very understanding, doesnt chastise me and I learn a lot! Every class I take, I am pushed to my limits by Pablo and Miguel but at the end of the class I feel great!The studio is very clean and the staff is professional and friendly. Ive been training here since it opened and Pablo has helped me improve my game tremendously. Pablo takes the time to explain Jiu Jitsu strategy, tactics, and modern techniques. I came from Ecuador almost a year ago and after settling I started looking for a BJJ academy. BJJ is very competitive in the US but not every academy offers a competitive-level training like Pablos. It’s a privilege to be apart of the PSBJJ team. There are many great BJJ schools in Texas and Houston specifically but the passion and level of professionalism Pablo puts into the team stands out the most. It’s a true and sincere desire to see his students improve on and off the mats everyday. I’m always amazed at how much hard work and dedication he puts into the school. On top of that actively competing and coaching 100’s of students at tournaments all throughout the year. In just a short amount of time since opening his own gym, PSBJJ has produced numerous world champions and elite level athletes.I personally have the option of training at atleast 25 different gyms which are much closer to my house but the further drive time is worth every minute on the mats at Pablo’s to me. In addition to the great leadership, the level of talent from white to black belt is incredible. No matter what day of the week or time you choose to train, the mats are always full. My teammates push me to be better and push further every time I train. It’s a family away from your family.

This review is for the kids program.My 6 year old son has been TRAINING here 3 times a week (for a year) and has loved every moment. I want to emphasize the TRAINING aspect vs. simply playing around with other kids and doing exercises for a class with 10 minutes at the end of real stuff as is the case with most extracurriculars for kids this age. This is not the Rex Kwon Do style studio that I have seen elsewhere that is geared for young kids. There is no background music. There are no songs or rehearsed oaths. Pablo does not wear a motivational speaker headset with mic. This is honest to goodness BJJ training with some games thrown in for good measure.At Pablo Silva BJJ each age/skill level follows a somewhat standard methodology. You can see this in the Saturday classes where a broad range of ages come together and do warm up exercises/drills as a cohesive unit. This helps build rapport in the school and an overall sense of family.Additionally, Pablos name isnt just on the building, he is personally involved with the training of the classes and instruction. We have been blown away by the professionalism, the cleanliness of the facility, and quality of training/care that is taken with each child. I feel safe, my son feels safe.It is a nice change of pace to see the kids challenged at an individual level and feel a true sense of pride and accomplishment when they do well because they truly earned it. This has helped my son with his interpersonal skills, increased his confidence, and helped with body control/motor skills. He is genuinely getting a workout in each class, which is not something I can say for any of the other sports we have tried or are currently doing (i.e. baseball/soccer).In summary, the time we spend here is not wasted. We never discuss skipping a session because we dont feel like going. It is a place we want to be and enjoy going to. As a parent, nothing else has come close to feeling as worth it, especially when you get to see the real sense of pride in your childs face when they know THEY have applied what they have learned and beaten their opponent. Its the epitome of a 1 on 1 sport, and there are up days and down days, but such is life and Ill take that variability over the alternative.

When I first started training jiu-jitsu I knew more or less what I was getting myself into since both of my brothers train.What I love most about training at Pablos is how personalized and intentional the training is. I trained for a couple of months at a different gym prior to moving to Houston. In my first couple of months, I loved using a smash pass, but I never really understood when to use the techniques taught in class. However, the very first time I trained at Pablos I was able to roll with him. He picked up on my game and challenged me to branch away out and try different techniques. It was easy for me to get complacent in my passing, but in order to grow, I had to be willing to try new positions and develop other strengths.After attending several classes at Pablos I understood that our drills were practiced in sequential order to build muscle memory. Once I realized this, I understood why even as white belts my teammates and I were picking up on techniques a lot faster than when I trained at other gyms. Each drill builds into the next one, making the entire process similar to putting a puzzle together. Through training at Pablos, I was able to understand when and how to use certain techniques versus others something I struggled with prior to joining Pablos. Id train for a few months but still couldnt identify what was happening during live training.Beyond the structure of the class and Pablos teaching technique, I love that hes very respectful of his students time and always starts and ends class on time. The facility has an upstairs waiting area, lockers, changing room, gym and sauna. Most impressively, the bathrooms are always cleaned and the gym is very well-maintained.Pablo has done an incredible job building a collaborative learning environment even for the women at his academy. When I find myself getting caught in a particular move or have trouble understanding something I can always talk to Pablo or one of my classmates after class regarding the move without question.When I am able to focus on jiu jitsu and train consistently it feels as though nothing outside of that matters. Its a great escape and parallels so closely to life. With jiu jitsu, like in life, you are going to face challenges and seasons when things arent ideal, but you keep working through the discomfort and with the right support (ie-the right team) you fight through. Theres always a way out, you just have to keep working until you find it..

I cannot say enough about this school, professor Pablo Silva is more than I could ask for 10x over! and the team and rhe comradeship as a whole? Ahhmazing. I joined because I wanted a place I could grow with and reconnect my competitive juices aa well as bring up my fitness & health in the meantime. I am in the best shape I have been since college and I am 47 this year. I was able to learn from the only adult level world champion in town! This eventually catapulted me into my own master’s level successes.Even more, my wife fell in love with Jiu Jitsu the following year after seeing how much fun I have been having the prior year! We’re able to have the best time traveling and competing with the team across the country. Finally, my 4 year old just had his first class today and he’s having a blast. This is a beautiful beginning of a whole family of killers 👌🏼😆.If you want world class training, you have it! If you want no frills training sessions, you got it up to 3 competition classes a week!!! That’s incredible. If you want a family atmosphere and a great learning fun center to get quality basics for your youth, you got it too.Needless to say, this place is more than we ever hoped it to be. If you eventually choose this place partly bc of this recommendation, remember to say hi to me in class, and you can thank me for sending you to the best teachings and not to mention the ONLY state of the art facility of this level in all of Texas. I have been training BJJ for many years now and have become very picky about where I decide to train. My husband trained at PSBJJ for about 6 months before I did, I had major respect for him and his athletes but I was happy where I was. Pablo impressed me so much when he took the time to encouraged me and coach me before a match at a tournament when my coach was not there. He had probably 50+ students of his own at this tournament and still found the time to talk with me one on one too help me focus on my upcoming match. I made the move to to be a part of PSBJJ the next week.There are a million great things to say about Pablo Silva the man. But Im going to talk about the 2 main reasons I am so happy with my decision. All you need to do is Google his name to see the accolades but that doesnt always translate into a good professor. Well lets just start with the fact that he trains World Champions...the proof is in the pudding.But what I love is that although Pablo competes in a smaller weight class he can adapt to body type, injury, strength level and belt level to teach you. You are not just getting one sized education. He teaches technique in class that can be done by all but is very open to questions about what game/techniques are working for you. Stuck on a thought? Just ask him! (OR one of the other several black or brown belts that are always on the mats with us daily. There is no shortage of upper belts to train with)Now lets talk LADIES!!! I have trained at several gyms during my journey and one thing that is typically lacking is women training partners... Rumor has it that you can smell the victory from miles away.....With Pablo, jiu jitsu transforms from being just a hobby, to a way of life. Once you set foot in his newly-remodeled gym (see gorgeous photos here), he already makes you want to be a winner. Apart from being one of the highest-ranking, well-medaled instructors around, he’s an inspiring coach with a big personality. You know, the kind that doesnt throw chairs at opponents.No amount of takedowns can take this man down. He even competes alongside his students (and wins gold left and right), so you know he can definitely walk the talk. What. A. Pro. I joined Pablo Silva BJJ roughly 1 year ago. I came from another jiujitsu academy because I wanted to compete in jiujitsu tournaments like I had previously done years ago. Prior to coming to my first class I researched other academies in Houston by looking at overall team trophies consistency in tournaments throughout Texas. What I found out through that research was PSBJJ was consistently winning or placing in the top 3 of all teams. That told me that not only does the team do well all over but his athletes were winning! I knew this was the place I wanted to be before I even took my first class. I wanted to be in a room full of WINNERS! And not winners just on the mats but winners mentally! PSBJJ is home to 11 World Champions in different belt ranks!!My first class was a Monday night competition class. It was tough! I wasnt use to that level of training and talent in an academy. We trained hard and pushed ourselves! I feel in love during that 1.5 hr long class! A few months later my wife left her prior jiujitsu academy as well and she began training hard with the woman of PSBJJ.Over this past year I have grown in many ways! My jiujitsu has gotten for technical and aggressive! But I also have lost 18 lbs. When I started at PSBJJ I was 208lbs and now I am walking around at 190 lbs!Pablos academy has been more a le to offer me more than just winning tournaments. I have meet some amazing people from all over Houston. Many of who have become great friends! Pablos academy offers more than jiujitsu. It offers community through hard training towards a common goal. Iron sharpens iron.If you are looking to learn jiujitsu as a hobby, as a form of competition, looking to change life goal etc this is an excellent choice!! Ive been training BJJ for almost 5 years now, but only recently started at Pablo Silva BJJ. The gym is beautiful and always spotless (even the bathrooms!), all the students are friendly and welcoming, and Professor Pablo teaches every class. If you are in Houston and serious about competing at IBJJF, then PSBJJ is where you need to be!

The Pablo Silva BJJ Gym is geared towards high level instruction and competitive sport jiujitsu. It is an IBJJF-recognized academy that has numerous black belt students and world champions that train there daily.The instructors are approachable and very knowledgeable. They spend the time introducing brand new students to the sport as well as working with seasoned, experienced students. The student population ranges from 3 years old to 60-ish years old and there are multiple classes throughout the day, six days per week. Classes always finish promptly allowing for a quick return to work or school. Team uniforms are available for purchase.The facilities include a large mat space on the first floor and a second, smaller mat space upstairs. Mats are swept and disinfected after every class. The upstairs also has several dressing rooms and lockers for storing one’s gear. There are separate recently remodeled restrooms with showers. The drinking fountain has a spout for water bottles. There is a full weight gym with cardio equipment and a turf run for sleds and battle rope work.The academy plans for local and US, and international tournaments together and there are various social events (I.e., BBQs, gatherings, dinners) throughout the year.I rate this gym 5 stars and it is my chosen team since moving to Houston, Texas.

Moving to Pablos wasnt only the best BJJ decision Ive made, but also, without exaggeration, one of the best decisions in my life.Im incredibly happy with my teammates, professor, the training itself, and our state of the art facility. Pablo is the type of coach that, if you know hes in your corner you can win any match. He believes in each and every competitor more than we believe in ourselves! He has sacrificed so much and worked incredibly hard to become a multiple time World Champion and has created other World class athletes. I came to Professor Pablo in a very tough stage of my Jiu Jitsu and life really. As things in my old academy were changing and I simply couldnt see myself there if I wanted to evolve I was on the brink of putting Jiu Jitsu on the back seat. After a friend of mine told me that Professor Pablo Silvas Academy was a perfect place for me to pursue my goals and to be around like minded people I visited. The experience was incredible I loved it. Professor Pablo is a champion not only through what he has accomplished in the sport but through the way he carries himself and leads the academy. Everyone sits on an even plate theres no favoritism and Professor Pablo always makes sure we are progressing even if he takes time out of his own training to do so. I drive 120 miles a day in total from my home to the academy and back. I wake up way earlier than most people simply because the experience and high level Jiu Jitsu he delivers is incredible. This all trickles down to the people training under him and the children. The level at the academy is high but the beauty of it is that I am surrounded by regular people and plenty with great lives outside of Jiu Jitsu. Professor Pablo has been able to help people excel at a high rate to make anyone not only be a better competitor but a better person physically and mentally. He talks to the team as one , we are all a family. I have learned years worth of material in the few months I have been with Professor Pablo. Things I take with me off the mat that have helped me become a better athlete, student , and person. Its still unreal to me that I am exposed to this kind of training daily. Theres multiple good academies in Houston but only one great academy and that is Pablo Silva BJJ HQ. I wouldnt drive as much as I do anywhere else.
