I attended Governor French Academy from 6th grade through graduation. In my opinion it is an amazing school. The amount of knowledge, skill and charisma that I gained by attending Governor French is insurmountable. I also loved it because it always felt like home. So much so that now, 11 years after graduation I commute 40 minutes and across state lines to bring my daughter. She has loved it since day 1.

The headmaster has always been able to make time for me when an issue has occurred. I scheduled a meeting with him at 9am and I was called into his office right at 9am. We were able to discuss everything that was going on in the classroom with my son and the other students. My sons teacher was able to come too and talk about the situation. They have great discipline policies that help our son become a better person.

Governor French Academy is a great school. I would first say Dont judge a book by its cover. Governor French Academy has a different kind of look and feel then public schools, but dont let that deceive you. My children are way ahead of what their friends in the public school system are doing. The teachers are committed, friendly and driven to help your children get the education they deserve. I would suggest trying them out for a day a learn what its all about.

This school is not what it used to be and is a terrible experience for the children. The school is poorly ran and it does not have the opportunities it used to have. The students here are treated poorly even in the younger grades where they’re yelled at for the tiniest of things. Most of the 3-4 programs have been cut due to the amount of debt the school is in. Very few of the teachers are respectful and decent at teaching. Teachers pick favorites often and don’t let the ones they don’t like do anything. Many students will get in trouble for nothing if they’re not favorites. While the favorite students are able to do as they please. Do NOT send your kids here, they will be miserable.

At Governor French Academy your students get a very personalized education. My kids studied a few subjects intensely to learn all they could. It is a different education than you are going to get from any other school. The one on one attention and care from the teachers is more than you are going to get at any public school. It is an exceptional place to send your kids for an education.

At Governor French Academy you know your kids will be pushed to accomplish all they can accomplish. The teachers see the potential in the students and work with them to reach that potential. The teachers also teach respect towards others and self respect. It is an awesome school to send your kids to and you know that they will be prepared for college and beyond.

The Academy is unlike any other place of learning I have ever seen. They have balanced the six needs that we all have in such a way that students thrive, learn, and enjoy. The six needs I speak of are success, self worth, control, inner peace, love, and freedom. When these are all fed equally a student excels at the highest level.

My daughter is in her second year at GFA and she absolutely loves it. The teachers are all fantastic. My daughter is able to work at her own pace. If she needs extra help in any subject she gets it before she can start to fall behind. Likewise if she wants to work faster in any subject she can.

As a parent I am happy to have my son be apart of the family at GFA. He is getting such an amazing education. The students that go there are so smart and receive scholarships that they deserve due to hard work. The older kids teach the younger students, it is awesome to see the interaction that they have and how well the students get along grade level to grade level.

I really like that the students are able to go at their own pace and if they can advance, they are able to. The students are able to get extra attention if they need it because the teachers are always available. My grandkids really like it there and I think it provides them with a good academic challenge.

I have three grandchildren at Governor French Academy. The oldest has been there nine years. The education the children receive is based on each childs ability. They are not all kept in the same book on the same page at all times therefore they have time to actually grasp and understand a concept before they move on to something else. I would highly recommend this school to anyone I know.

I appreciate the fact that creative thinking is highly encouraged. My children have grown so much individually because of the opportunities they have had at Governor French Academy. When it comes time for them to apply for colleges I know the faculty will be there with supportive letters of recommendation and will represent the education and individuality of each child.

Our responsibility as parents includes providing the best educational opportunity that our situation affords. We selected Governor French Academy as this best opportunity. In our opinion, GFA is one of the best schools in the country because their mission is ensuring children are not only prepared for collegiate education, but that they actually complete it. The diverse staff and student population are a better reflection of what the world actually looks like, than other schools in the Belleville area. Student test scores are among the best in the state. Finally, our son loves going to school, everyday (not to mention he is understanding and speaking Chinese, in the first grade)! Its a WIN-WIN situation!!!

GFA gives its students the opportunity to perform academically at the highest levels. Although it is a small school it has a great deal of flexibility and each student abilities are well known to faculty and staff. Its size provides an intimacy that is lost in bigger institutions. My daughter would never been allow to study Economics, Comparative Politics and European History at the public school. She would have never been in one Shakespeares play much less four of Shakespeares play. From drama and science fairs to an excellence mathematics curriculum, GFA fulfills its mission statement.

Governor French Academy, is a gem in our opinion in Belleville Illinois. We have watched our son transition tremendously with hs academic studies. Our son, has completed his last 2 major mandatory projects with lttle assistance from any famliy member. At Governor French Academy students are required to participate in the school science fair from Form III and Up, it is optional at the Form II level. We would recommend for parents to encourage students to participate in Form II, to gain a better understanding of the expectations and how it can impact their grade. For the last 2 years our son, has only needed us to purchase his supplies and drive him to the library for some of his research material. The first year he participated, his grade was not passing because he nor did we read all of the link provided to understand GFA was following the Illinois Science Fair Rules. By the next year, our son beginning preparing during Christmas break and his projects research paper, project and presentation earned him a Bronze category this year at his academic level.GFA, also require the students to research and write a 5 page paper. Our son has excelled every year with his subjects , research, and detailed information. GFA, has not only taught our son to think and to apply his thinking to his life today with the hopes to make a positive difference in the world for himself and others.GFA has also inspired our son to be an athletic competitor, who understand that competition requires discipline plus to value teammates. Our son was so proud to travel with school staff and students to support his GFA Cross-Country teammate, Senior Sarozjani Hunter who was the first athlete from Governor French Academy to compete at the state championship level. Our son has loved running distance since was 4 years old, and it is beautiful to see him continue to enjoy this sport with his peers and coaches. The youngest was one of the first young distance runners for a great local Track Organization, because he was always trying to keep up with older brother who was 10 years older than he when he started running at 4 years old. Now his older brother encourages him while he serves in the United States Air Force.Governor French Academy is a gem in our familys eyes because they not only provide a great educational experience, the educators lead example and believe in encouraging students to embrace their strengths. At GFA, our son learned to think, embrace his leadership attributes, he has learned about how his choices or lack their of can affect his academic environment directly or indirectly. Overall, Governor French Academy is helping us to nurture, encourage motivate our child become an empathetic and respectful yet honest hardworking human being who we hope one day will share his talents and gifts with the world to positive difference. Governor French Academy also teaches our son, the importance of higher education and that the cost is not cheap but through the students labor they can reap great rewards and earn valuable scholarship funds to pay for their higher academic goals in the future.Michael & Alicia Bradley

Sending our son to GFA was the BEST decision my husband and I have ever made! After four short years Conner has done tremendous things...National Youth Leader of the Year as a sophomore, three time INTEL International Science Fair Finalist (currently working on a project that he is hoping will get him to INTEL one last time), winner of dozens of science fair awards, First place winner of Websters programming challenge, many first and second place medals from WYSE, more trophies and ribbons than I can count, and many opportunities to start clubs at GFA. His accomplishments were only made possible because he is in a school that cares about the students future. The teachers are instrumental in guiding, teaching and encouraging every student to do their very best. Thank you GFA for all that you have done for Conner!!! To any parent who is not satisfied with the public school systems, I would highly recommend you visit Governor French. Our only regret is that we didnt know about this school earlier.

The Governor French Academy (GFA) is a wonderful academic institution. The individualized instruction the children received coupled with the wide variety of topics covered, makes for an outstanding environment for young minds. The staff are knowledgable, kind and helpful and are focused on the education of children. We have been pleasantly surprised with how well GFA is run and how well our daughter is learning and growing. The schol is top notch and we would recommend it to anyone in the area as a first class education program for all school aged children.
