Belleville West High School is a great school full of good teachers and kids. You feel at home walking through the doors at Belleville West. My first time walking in as a freshman I was greeted and welcomed by seniors and many upperclassmen. All of my teachers have been helpful with my academics. The extra-curricular activities have been fun as well. Ive been in golf and Speech and Acting team and have felt welcomed in both. This mostly stems from helpful and caring upperclassmen being willing to help freshman. Ive enjoyed my time at West so far and look forward to the next four years.

Our two sons had a great high school experience at Belleville West. They were involved in the honors program , student government and plenty of extracurricular activities. The faculty is amazing. Our oldest son played soccer for three years. Both were active in the the music program: jazz, marching, symphonic band and pep band. They were both involved in the theater department, one in the pit orchestra and the other on stage. Personally, I think our theater department is second to none. They have both continued with their passions, our oldest is now a high school music director in Southern Illinois and our youngest has been very active in theater while in college. Belleville West offers plenty of clubs and organization to choose from with great faculty sponsors. Our youngest son found his niche also with the Speech and Acting team and won a state championship. Overall we couldnt have been happier.

My time in Belleville West helped me develop in multiple ways to continuously progress into a better person and develop in various ways to stand out after graduation. I graduated in 2012 and already had 38 college credit hours that I could transfer though Wests 1818 program through Saint Louis University and various AP programs. This allowed me to enroll in college as a sophomore and let me have a much more relaxed course schedule than other students in similar studies. This helped immensely as I started getting acquainted to college. Also extracurriculars such as Model United Nations, HyNews (high school newspaper), National Honors Society, etc. greatly improved my skills in public speaking, writing, editing, design, and volunteering. These not only made me stand out in college applications, but also improved myself to become a more well-rounded person. The teachers I experienced in honors and AP classes were excellent. They pushed us to excel, but also helped us along the way. These classes and teachers got me into the rhythm of time management which is very valuable after high school graduation that surprisingly many people do not adequately possess. These teachers made me actually interested in the subject matter instead of just doing the work to get good grades on exams.I felt safe here no matter the time of day. I had to get here early and stay until the evening started sometimes due to extracurriculars and had no safety issues. I always felt welcomed and included in West.Belleville West is a great school filled with excellent teachers and programs and extracurriculars deigned to push students to their highest potential and excel later in life.

I graduated from Belleville West high school in 2014 and I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about it. I transferred to West toward the end of my sophomore year and having experienced another school in the area I can say in all honesty WEST IS BEST! Everything from the campus to the teachers to the extra curricular activities is top notch. The teachers all care about each student and their learning experience. They go above and beyond to make sure the students are understanding the curriculum. The campus is beautiful and still feels new. The students were all very welcoming and were all very well behaved in class and on campus and clicks were not a big issue at all. There is a place for everyone to fit in and get involved. I especially praise the theater department there. They put on incredible productions and really help students learn about the art of performing, its much more than youre average school club. Overall going to West remains one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Belleville West was one of the best times during my life so far. They taught the Maroon Way (Respectful, Responsible, and Kind) and it kept that nice friendly reminder that we are here on our path to adulthood. Make sure you enjoy your time there though because you may regret otherwise! So go ahead and take a weird art class or some shop or band and definitely join a club of some sort because high school is not forever and it only gets tougher from there.

Belleville West was one of the best school experiences a student could have. The opportunities for extracurricular activities gave me a full schedule but also prepared me for college and life after college. The theatre program is one of the best in the state in my opinion. We had two amazing directors that pushed us to be professional. My experience in theatre has helped me in my job as a Creative Arts director at a church. I also learned so much from marching band. Our director made us amazing musicians by showing us how fun and rewarding marching band could be. Over all I would say my experience at Belleville West was amazing. The teachers I had loved to teach and loved their job. They wanted us to learn and see the world in a different light. I cant thank them enough for all they taught me. Yes there were things that happened that shouldnt have, but Belleville West helped to shape me into who I am today. With all the opportunities to excel, there is no reason why I wouldnt recommend it.

Belleville West was definitely a place I considered home for 4 years. The teachers were some of the most dedicated and cared immensely about the students progress and well-being. Yes, some of them were tough but I understand now why that was. West is known for not only great education, but for its programs including theater, sports, clubs, etc. There was a club for everything from agriculture to recycling to even Latin dance. Belleville West is an amazing high school full of amazing opportunities. The staff give students personal yet professional one-on-one relationships and provide a stellar education from a variety of teachers. In particular, the AP courses allow students to experience what a real college class entails, and coming from a college undergrad himself, they are more than helpful in adapting to collegiate academia. Also, this extremely diverse high school prides itself on the Maroon Way: RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, and KIND. These three words have stayed with me beyond the principal blaring it over the PA system every morning. These are words to pride ourselves on and hearing them everyday has become a personal satisfaction and gain for me. I have nothing bad to say about this institution, and I am not humble when admitting that this school has changed my life for the better.~Class of 2015

Even though I graduated from Belleville West in 2013, I still feel involved with many of the teachers, coaches, and students there. During my time there my class as a whole was extremely close. We all got along, and still keep in touch to this day. The teachers at West care about your performance in and out of the classroom. They are the kind of people you willingly want to keep in touch with after graduation. Even after graduation, I still received help from the academic advisers that worked there multiple times over several years, and I know I am not the only one they willingly helped out. I believe I can confidently say that the culture at West prepares the students for the next level of collegiate academics and athletics. Without my experiences at West I would not be where I am today. If you do not know Coach Swift, and are currently at West, definitely get to know him. He is a great role model and you can learn a lot about how to succeed in life through hearing about his own experiences. Mr. Johnson, the man, is also a great mentor you should try and get as your English teacher. Also, Mr. Lombardi still to this day is the best Biology teacher I have ever had, and the same goes for Mr. Rogier in Physics.I thoroughly enjoyed my time at West, and reminisce on the times I had there frequently. The days at West last long, the weeks last even longer, but the years truly will fly by. Overall, I am glad to have spent four years at Belleville West and would not trade them for anything.

I really enjoyed my years at Belleville West. Being a part of the theater program was a great opportunity at this school since our productions were taken seriously, and very supported by the school. Learning all the areas of what goes into a theatrical production was interesting and having the resources available that West does to put on high quality shows is incomparable. In addition, the academics of the honors and AP classes were excellent. I truly feel that some of my senior AP classes prepared me extremely well for the type of rigor I would experience in college. I highly recommend that anyone interested in pursuing a college degree try out Wests AP classes for reference.

Obviously, when it comes to a school, peoples criteria for what they consider good will vary. All I can say, though, is that I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Belleville West. As a student who was interested in the arts, I participated in a lot of music and theater during my time there. For me, this was the most enriching part of high school for me. There was a definite commitment to keep these programs alive and thriving. I was a member of Maroon Majic, concert choir, Little Theatre and the Thespian Society. The teachers who dedicated their time to these programs went above and beyond and made it a truly great experience for the students. Our theatre performed 5 shows a year, and I remember hearing from students at other school that they only performed around 2 or 3. To me, that always made West pretty special. In the time since I have left, I have been thrilled to see that West has kept up that commitment to these programs. When I was senior, the speech and acting team was just getting going, and from what I know, it has become a very strong organization on campus and at weekend competitions. My review of this place may be incredibly dated. Its been 10+ years since my time there, but while I may no longer live around, I still have ties to the community. My family still lives in the district, so we still have a vested interested in the school. I think Belleville West is great school. My dad, sister and I had great experiences there.

High school can be a hard time for any student and it can also be rough not seeing your regular (Jr. High) friends in every class. It can be a bit intimidating in such a large school to figure out where you fit in and how you will succeed. While it can be difficult for some it may be very easy for others....which I think we all forget sometimes. While attending West I was fortunate enough to discover the Little Theatre, Choir, Maroon Magic, and Speech Team programs. Through these programs I was able to develop a trusting bond with coaches and teachers....not to mention gaining lifelong friends. For any student struggling to find their place, these programs can help you in finding a soft place to land....they did for me!!I hope that all current students remember what a tough time school can be and I hope that they make sure they are kind and understanding of all of their fellow classmates no matter what the circumstance. Everyone adjusts differently and in a world full of chaos I think that we all deserve a bit of happiness in our day to day life.-Cat Class of 0-6!!!!

Everything Ive learned has been applied to college in one way or another, and now Im actually being paid to go to school due to the opportunities that Belleville West gave to me! These opportunities were Advanced Placement courses, 1818 courses, the National Honors Society, and many other clubs that gave colleges a better idea of who I was as an individual. Also, if it wasnt for the time, effort, and care that the majority of teachers and staff put in to help me not just learn, but also help me strive to do my best (which was getting good grades and being a part of the opportunities I listed), I probably wouldnt be as successful in college as I am now. The faculty and staff are extraordinary and make you feel like you belong in the BW family.During my Freshman year we started a new program called the Million Page Challenge. The purpose of this challenge was to urge students to become better readers because learning doesnt stop in the classroom. Wests Fine Arts/Music department is the best in this area with some of the best instructors you could ever have cross your path. Our Athletic Department recently replaced the football field with a $1.4 million dollar synthetic turf field, making our Athletic facility one of the nicest and advanced in the Metro East. The teachers and staff are willing to help you to succeed at all costs.

I personally have enjoyed my three, almost four years at Belleville West. Its a beautiful campus, the teachers are great, i paricipate it a lot of clubs, and i have made quite a bit of friends. Besides the cafeteria food, i have not been dissapointed about anything or anyone at West. I am a senior so this is my last year here and I can honestly say that I will miss this school and a lot of the teachers.

I am deeply disappointed to get my sons yearbook and his picture is not listed. He chose as a senior to just do the pictures at school as normal vs an expensive photography package. So because he opted out of the costly pictures you leave him out of the senior photos in the yearbook????? I paid for pictures, paid $60 for the yearbook and he isnt even in it and its his last one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I find this unacceptable and very discouraging. Whoever was in charge of the yearbook this school year gets an epic fail in my book!!!!

Wish this school was better, the only good thing about this school is a few of the student advisers and a few of the teachers. (Especially the science teachers). I very much disliked my assistant principal. The students are horrible and hang out in groups in the hallway so it is almost impossible to get to class. Yet they refuse to do anything about things like this. I wish they would focus more on student education instead of buying useless TVs for the Cafeteria and junk that does not help students learn. Send your children to Mascoutah school, so much better and you actually get a quality education.

Belleville West gave me an experience that I will be forever grateful for and treasure. Not only was a prepared for college in terms of how to study, but many of my general education classes that werent covered through my AP and 1818 SLU college credit were a breeze because of being able to remember most of the material years later. I switched colleges after my sophomore year and ended up being required to take a foreign language during my junior and senior year. Initially, I was going to start with basic Spanish, even though I had Spanish all four years at West, but decided to try and test out. Even with not utilizing my Spanish for two going on three years, I still tested at a conversational advance Spanish level, which meant I didnt have to take those classes and still got credit for them! Dr. Hentze is definitely a memorable teacher and an amazing friend. To this day, I still use the skills I have learned in his class, which has helped me receive several job offers and internships. If you put in the effort, the teachers at West deliver. I have gained lifelong experience and friends with the students and teachers at West and I am proud to say I am an alumni of West CLASS OF 2011!!!

As a student attending this school i will say that students here are rude and will be rude in front of teachers and get away with it. I wish they would stop buying TVs and actually focus on education. Another problem i see is that teachers are very rude and put down students, and one of my teachers asked the question who would you vote for i told him and he was mocking me for my pick and for my political views. If it was up to me i would want to be home schooled, or go to a different school. The only people who were nice there were the ladies working at the APs office.
