Im only two days into my online A2 course, but Im already over the moon with my experience.Im moving to Germany for work and signed up for a week of classes. Its been a huge confidence boost to advance my listening comprehension. Today after class I did a little dance, feeling so excited about my German progress. Im extending my course another week or two or three.A few administrative bugs were promptly taken care of and Im psyched about the 20% off discount for online classes in November.

Last 2015, I started my German language journey with one of the best and expensive German schools in Asia. I was pleased with their teaching strategy, the quizzes that they do, and the effort they put into teaching their students. However, since I came to Germany, the standard was not the same. I enrolled in another German language course which was cheaper, but it had a lower quality.Until I stumbled upon GLS on google search..and had a teacher named Johanna.Johanna was definitely a breath of fresh air. Finally, I can say, I found the best here in Germany! Shes the kind of teacher who doesnt just give you a bunch of homework from your book and follows the structure of the book page per page. She makes an effort in creating keynotes/PowerPoint slides for EVERY lesson. Thats when you can prove that she prepares them before the start of the class!Whenever the class starts, she asks everyone how theyre doing. I enjoyed her small talk because it shows she is interested in everyones stories. Not just the normal How are you?, she adds Its nice to see you again, we have not seen each other for a long time!. Her smile shows how teaching is just not a responsibility, but also a PASSION.She uses the teaching tools which GLS offers. She downloads upcoming assignments and uploads them on our community dashboard. When you tell her you cant find the page youre looking for, and she will give you the pdf version of the document and not just a screenshot. Ill say it again.. it takes EFFORT and TIME for what she does.As a teacher before, I know when someone gives her all and passion. And thats what you see in Johanna.The only reason I am giving 4 stars is that shes not my teacher anymore. :( Nevertheless, she deserves this appreciation! Keep on doing what you do Johanna and raise the flag for how everyone should approach their job. Thank you for giving your all!And thank you to GLS for having a teacher like her. More power!

Hi, I did an online course for 4 weeks with GLS. It was my first course online and I must say it was very effective. Teachers have adapted very well to use digital tools in creative ways, and was a lot of fun to have fellow students joining the course from around the world.Additionally, something special about GLS that I have not seen in any other school, they teach directly in German, even if you are in an A1 or A2 course. They do not use a base language as reference. They are able to teach all in German with videos pics and hand gestures. This is amazing because you learn the language as you would when you were a kid. More intuitive and of course proper use instead of comparing 1-2-1 with your native toungue. (BTW - of course teachers can speak English and if it becomes impossible in German, they will be able to explain in English. But tbh there were very little times when this was needed :) )Highly recommend GLS!!

I spent 2 weeks this summer at GLSBerlin and I wish I could have stayed more! The teachers were really good and motivated and all the students were also really motivated to learn german. We spoke german all the time even at the breaks, I could see my improvement after these weeks.The Campus is really good too. Its a pity that the cafeteria was not available due to covid. But everyone was nice and friendly, specially the people at the reception, who welcome you when you arrive new :)There are also afternoon activities every day (currently only 3 times a week due to covid) so its good to keep practising german after class and to meet other students.The apartments at the campus were also perfect. Well equiped and you get cleaning service as well. Its a bit expensive in my opinion but defenitelly the most practical option to stay there.If I come back to Berlin to study german I will defenitelly come back to GLS!

I spent 6 weeks this summer at GLS and I enjoyed my time there. The teachers are very professional and the colleagues I had in class were all interested to learn which helped a lot with my own learning experience.

I had a wonderful week at GLS. I feel so much more confident speaking German, and can understand so much more just out and about.The teachers were excellent, and the small class size meant everyone got a chance to speak.The material was very practical, and I’ve already needed to use all of the topics covered!

I had an absolutely wonderful experience with GLS! The teachers were fantastic- very well trained at language acquisition. They were also very good at engaging the students. I was only able to attend one lecture-but it was very interesting and easy to understand at my elementary level. I only had enough time to do one week, so I am looking forward to going back sometime next year!

Very satisfied! I went in as a complete beginner. The classes took place completely in German, which may be a bit challenging at first but which is always the best way to learn a language. It helped me a lot with listening as well as gave me some confidence in speaking. Class sizes were small (6 people in my case) which allowed plenty of chances to practice speaking. Also, you get to meet students from all over the world. My teachers were Alexander and Johanna - both were super friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend!

Lovely place, great teachers, each class has a limiter number of students which i find wonderful, the teachers are always friendly & ready to answer your every question, the reception team always greeted me with smiles & respect. The cafeteria is nice but if you wanted to have something else you have plenty of restaurants on Kastanienallee street. the leisure time activities that GLS offers are just okay, nothing really special but they’re there if you want. I highly recommend GLS if you’re interested in learning Deutsch, a great school with great staff.

I had a great week and the only downside was I had to head back to the UK to work. Would highly recommend, fantastic teachers! Big shout out to Martin.

I will forever be grateful to the German friend who suggested GLS to me, when I was looking for a German course in Berlin during my stay there one summer.That was eight summers ago - and GLS has since become an indispensable part of every year. I find it unique amongst language schools. What sets it apart for me are the extreme flexibility it offers (start on any Monday of the year; and stay for a week, a year - or anything in between!) - and the calibre of the tuition. It is endlessly surprising to me that this unusual level of flexibility never seems to impact on the quality of the teaching - further testimony to the excellence of some of the GLS academic staff. I am a language-addict - and at GLS I have encountered some of the most outstanding teachers I have ever had the privilege of learning from.Add to that the attractive and tranquil campus; the unique setting of Prenzlauer Berg, and the varied and interesting activity schedule... it’s little wonder that I can’t imagine a year without my annual dose of GLS!

GLS is the real deal! I highly recommend it to anyone thinking of an intensive language course or considering spending a term or even a gap year in Germany. The campus and facilities are impressive and the professors are top notch. They went to great lengths to help me and put in a lot of time and extra effort. The other students were friendly and helpful. I stayed on campus in a comfortable studio apartment but many students had found apartments in the area. GLS offer a very high quality educational experience for a reasonable price. If you want to study the German language in Germany, this is the program for you.

The teachers are great. The learning method is very good -you learn fast and have fun at the same time. The school building is very nice and the neighborhood is the best!

Having just attended another similar course in different part of Germany I can highly recommend GLS. I had best two teachers; Lisa and Andreas. A LOT depends on good teachers. Classes were very well taught, flexible, funny, engaging and the pace was adjusted according to students and not the other way around. I would definitely come back!

Amazing courses at GLS. They are so flexible since theres basically at least a group at every level. So if you feel youd like to go upper or lower to practise more, it is possible. Also, the lessons are very dynamic and practical. Best place to learn German in Berlin!

Great school, teachers and learning methods. I was there attending the Intensive course and it wast heavy at all. Easy to follow, really nice classmates as well. The location is great, the neighbourhood is beautiful, full of restaurants, life and people, theres always something to do! I will repeat for sure :)

I stayed for 2 weeks, learned a lot and enjoyed my time!everything is very well organized, the teachers (Mario & Boris) are really good and motivated.Ive found the afternoon activities to be very interesting as well, I joined a few and enjoyed each of them!all the staff were really nice and helpful, from the people at the desk, through teachers and afternoon activities organizers.the only thing I regret is not taking an over 30 class (Im 34 and felt old in my class, as everyone else were 19..)

I was at GLS for the 4 week intensive course and I must say, VERY IMPRESSED. I had 2 excellent teachers, Andreas and Lisa and they were seriously so stunning and for different reason. Lisa was very kind and patient and Andreas was the opposite, a strict but fair instructor who wants you to excel (I admit, it took me time to adjust to this style but it really did help me). All in all, I would totally recommend. P.s. They have some nice/nifty gadgets like cool smart boards etc. and it totally makes the class more interactive and the classrooms are very nice, clean, organized.

Attended an intensive course to improve my german. There are small study groups which enables personal approach of the teacher. The teachers are patient and really care you understand what is just being taught. The whole school is very nice, modern, clean, good equipped. All the staff is friendly and helpful. Every day they organize some kind of afterschool activity - to make friends, practise the language or get to know Berlin. The school is in a good part of Berlin, you can easily get anywhere with public transport within half an hour. I also used the accommodation by GLS and cannot complain. Definitely can recommend.

I’ve just completed my second week in the Standard program and I’m so grateful. They gave me all the needed support not just during the classes, but in every question I had. I was taught by wonderful teachers with an amazing structure. I certainly intend to come back.

One week of intensive C1 classes + Private classes in PM. High quality of instruction, impressed with facilities and organization. Some of the other (younger) students (im 50) in my class were slightly less motivated, but I expected this. Recommended and I would return.

GLS is a great language school. The staff is friendly and professional. They have excellent instructors with many years of experience and a great pedagogical approach. The facilities are very nice and the small size of the classes is ideal for students of German at any level.

I had a two weeks German standard course.The atmosphere in the class was really ok and all the teachers that I had were captivating and nice. In two weeks I can say that I improved a lot. The extra activities were interesting. I recommend this school!

I had a really enjoyable week at GLS. Although I was in the beginners class I learned a lot. The teachers were good, all the staff were patient and kind, and the restaurant downstairs served good food. The accommodation was fine and the neighbourhood was so cool...just like all of Berlin. What a great city..everyone is so friendly. I wanted to join an older students class, but it wasnt available that week. However, I didnt feel too out of place in the normal class, even though Im 57!!

Professional service, amazing, highly skilled and experienced teachers...Great extracurricular programme... Students from all walks of life. Also quite flexible, you can start any Monday and you can pause your course and take a break for a week, or sell your leftover weeks (this might not apply for the busy summer months) all in all I can only recommend..pricey but well worth

GLS helped me improve my german exponentially. The classes are really fun, and all the teachers I met genuinely enjoy teaching as they want you to learn, and at the same time are always willing to help you with any doubt. The GLS staff is also really open and will help you with anything you need. They really make you feel at home there. In regards with everything else, I met the most amazing people there, from all over the world, with extremely different backgrounds. GLS is truly a place where interesting people meet, and Im sure Ive made life long friends during my time there. I extremely recommend it. Its the best thing one can do to improve ones german skills in the best place possible, but at the same time enjoy the mesmerizing city of Berlin.

I had a fantastic experience during my four weeks at GLS. I arrived knowing no German and was placed in a beginner-level class. Each week, the class had no more than 7 students, so we were able to get plenty of individual help with our pronunciation and language skill.Each day consisted of two different classes (90 minutes each) taught by two different teachers. Getting some variety in teaching styles and priorities was not something I had considered, but I found it very helpful and supportive.The staff, faculty, and facilities were all very nice. The cafeteria in the basement serves great food at a reasonable price, and Prenzlauerberg is a great part of Berlin to explore!

German course in 2017. Shared a room with a friend on the top floor. Accomodation was quite spacious, room included two single beds, a small kitchen area with a fridge, and a large bathroom including a bathtub.Breakfast included was decent. Had all the essentials such as bread and salads.Campus was quite large so you could sometimes lose your way.My only complaint are the drunk students late at night, caused a bit of a disturbance.On the other hand, the teachers (Daniel and Alex if I can remember their names right) were very informative and was able to squeeze the German out of us, as at the time my class was very shy. Kudos to them!Overall a pretty good experience and would come here again.

Attended an evening course for 4 days a week after work as a preparation for the TestDAF. Super satisfied even though that theyre a bit more pricey in comparison to other language schools.Very good teacher!

From the UK and went for a two week course in August - was a little sceptical of the initial placement test but they were right and it was the perfect level. We completed A1.2 and into A2.1, going from barely being able to string a sentence together to comfortably speaking in shops and restaurants. We liked both our teachers and found the homework and classwork challenging but not overbearing. There was a good mix of grammar and pronunication as well.

Great language school with modern teaching methods. I attended a course for people over 30. I stayed for 2 weeks. During our classes as well as in the free time, we talked only in German, no English! Also the course was focused a lot on communication, we discussed different important current topics, such as the climate change, differences between generations, stress, etc. I was also satisfied with the book - (Erkundungen for C1 level) - it was demanding, which is good!Of course, there are always things to improve - for example it is not possible to pay by card in the cafeteria (only cash), there is (in my opinion) too much free time between classes and the afternoon activities (the classes end at 12.30 at the free time activities start at 15.15). I also booked my own accommodation in a hostel, I find the GLS accommodation too expensive.But overall, I was very satisfied and can only recommend this language school!

A green oasis in a beautiful area of the bustling city of Berlin. Innovative teaching methodologies, a comprehensive activity programme and the famous Monday evening stammtisch are all reasons to enrol at GLS. 3rd language school Ive completed but, the only one I would be tempted to go back to.

Overall I was very happy with GLS. I had first signed up for classes at DAS and was extremely disappointed. GLS was far superior on every level. There were about 10-12 students in the class (depending on the week) and it was a wonderful, diverse mix of people and ages from all over the world. The atmosphere was friendly and social and the location and facilities were excellent. I had feared too large a class while first researching classes, but we had more participation in this class than at DAS where there were only 3 of us in the classroom. I also liked the fact that we had two teachers, so that we got the benefit of their different styles and techniques, speaking, etc... of both. Like anywhere, there were teachers who got us talking and using the vocabulary more than others, and I found that everyone student had a different preference. I was personally impressed with Daniel who used a lot of physicality and examples to explain vocabulary and grammar without falling into English.

I did an intensive course for 1 week - 1.5h x 3 per day with breaks, so from 9 am to around 3 pm. After class there are extra activities every day that are free to participate in. I did an art seminar and a movie screening, both were very nice. Overall, definitely good school and recommended. Id do longer / again if i had more time.Some detailed notes:- very good group size, we were 5 people when full- both teachers (Valentin and Martin) were motivated and engaging- i found the book provided to be good as well- in my group most people were 19-20 years old and in Berlin on a learning break, and i think this is standard at GLS. I am close to 30 and live in Berlin, so i would prefer to have people a bit closer to my situation, but this is not schools fault really :) Bear in mind that the younger guys are not always motivated or understand very well why they are there at all, which is extremely annoying for someone taking this time specifically to learn as much as possible.- i felt that distribution into groups was not done very well - we had people with very different level in B2.1 class. I felt that the content was appropriate for my level of knowledge but a few other people would benefit from B1 level more. As a result i often found the class slow and conversation difficult to maintain.I could give 4 stars for the group distribution but i enjoyed the classes a lot nevertheless, so keeping 5 stars :)

The courses are very interactive, teachers ready to help you. The level attribution is quite perfect, and everyone with motivation can makes great improvements.

Very good teaching experience. Even with only a week of lecture in the semi intensive course I really learnt a lot and my level improved a lot as well. Some of the lessons are hard when you are not used to the spoken German language but you get better with time. I wish I had more time to stay there and learn more. Did a 6 week intensive course at GLS - the teachers were great and I learnt so much. Was really impressed with the service and quality throughout my experience.

Very beautiful campus in a great location. The courses are flexible and have rolling admissions meaning you can enter any week and are placed on a course which matches your current level. This happens almost every Monday so it is very adaptible. The course contents are varied and you have two instructors per day, which is also useful as you are listening and practicing with a broader range. All classed are taught fully in German; while this is difficult at first, especially if you are a beginner, it is actually very useful as you are fully immersed in the language. Finally, the school offers a wide variety of cultural activities in the afternoon allowing for further speaking and listening oportunities in German. Overall, would definitely recommned.

Advantages:- Great location;- Well organized Campus;- Professional and very nice Lektors (Native Speakers);- Interesting lessons;- 30+ group- Many choice in activities after classes. Walking or bike trips, trips to others German cities on the Weekend.- amazing result and progress in German language after 2 weeks courseDisadvantages:- Books are not the best. Our Lektors made it for us in more effective and interesting way using the extra exercises.- group 30+ should have more than 8 person, we had 10-12 some days. It’s s difference in a pace of knowledge perception with 30+ and teenagers;- the interactive board doesn’t work well, we lost a lot of time waiting for IT support every day;- every Monday new people came and we lost time introducing ourself again and repenting the material we did, because next gramma topic we’re based on the previous week;- to avoid the chaos people in the group should change once in a moths or minimum once in a two weeks.

I just took the B2 Telc Preperation Course + Exam package, which is GLSs two-week prep course with the official exam on the final day, and Im so glad that I did. The course goes through tons of exercises and example questions in each of the different competencies, and on the penultimate day before the test a mock exam is given in its entirety. This setup helped me see where exactly I was weakest in my competencies (hearing, not speaking, surprisingly) and gave me lots of practice to strengthen everything before the test. We also reviewed and practiced those B2 grammar elements that can really help you shine in the verbal and written sections (Genitiv, Nomen-Verben Verbindungen, etc.).In addition to all the language help, the teacher also provided us with valuable information about how the exam would be run (what we can bring into the room, how the examiners generally act etc.). I think that if I had taken the B2 Telc Exam without the information and practice that this course provided, I would have been so overcome with fear of the unexpected that I would have frozen up entirely. Instead I felt prepared.

It was an excellent trip, very well organized. The campus rooms are very well equipped, large, spacious, and comfortable. The downside is cleaning. During my two weeks on the campus I was only allowed to clean my room once.The breakfast is really good. There is a wide choice and the food is very qualitative.During my stay, I had 2 teachers a day.Otherwise, we were in a small class group (less than 10) and it was very nice.The school is very well located in the city, good transportation is very close.

A sensational find offered by the exchange agency.An exceptionally structured language school that offers three hotels, a restaurant, a cafeteria, library, computer room, a huge courtyard, and incredible classrooms with over-prepared teachers, plus the lobby and reception have staff at your service. disposition all the time.The school also offers free time activities and also breakfast for students.No doubt, I would repeat the dose, because although it was only three weeks, were memorable days and a lifetime experience.

I went to Berlin to take a two-week course at GLS, which couldnt have been better! School with a high level of teaching staff. Classes are intense, no time is wasted. In summer they offer courses for adults over 30 years which facilitates even more the effective use of the classes. It is a complex similar to a university campus with accommodation, restaurant and cafeteria at very affordable prices.It is very well organized. You can start every Monday doing a level test that is really effective to place the students in the correct course according to their level. Even so, the interested person is then consulted if the level is correct. In short, a center focused on the needs of students to get the most out of the time spent.I have also enjoyed the Prezlauer Berg neighborhood, which is a safe neighborhood, excellent for both young people and families and a short walk from Alexander Platz.Its a pity not having had more time because in the short time available the advance has been remarkable!
