There will be no stars for the Bethlehem Department of Transportation. This review forced me to pick one star in order to place a posting. Whoever determines who rides the bus, needs to take a better look at the distance that some of the Liberty High School children are expected to walk. My granddaughter lives on 7th ave in Bethlehem. She lives 2.2 miles from the school and is not entitled to ride a school bus because we were told that the criteria is measured in feet from the corner of LHS to the corner of her street. We were told that 10,000 feet was the distance to determine weather or not they ride a bus. The schools records show that corner to corner, the distance measured to my granddaughters house is 9,979 feet. So, for 21 feet, she has to walk to and from school. It is probably 100 feet to the front door of the school to its corner, and again at least another 100 feet from the 7th ave corner to her door. I dont know how the school can justify this. If she stays for an after school activity, she is walking home in the dark. Many children in the Freedom area only live a few blocks from the school and get a school bus. Why are the rules different for two different schools that are both in the same school district? THIS IS PLAIN NO SAFE, AND THIS SHOULD BE REVIEWED AS TO HOW MANY CHILDREN ARE AFFECTED BY THIS!
