Took the Night Photography course and, within the two hour span, I went from feeling hesitant about my skills in that arena to feeling quite confident! Haley was a very motivating and well-informed instructor who took the time to walk us through any issues we were having and offer easy-to-grasp explanations. Also, the night time urban exploration aspect of this class was very fun! Will definitely be taking another one of their classes.

BPWs digital photography in-person course with Maria was phenomenal. It was a great introduction for those who have DSLR or mirrorless cameras that want to learn more about how a camera functions, its history and how to properly use it. Maria offered a lot of information in one class though delivered it in a way that was accessible and easy to digest. The advice given and insight received will go on well beyond the class. Its a very exciting and supportive community to become a part of in Boston.

I attended the Digital Photography I Class on 8/2/20 with Sami. I was nervous going into Boston with everything going on with COVID but they far exceeded my expectations at how clean and professional everything was. We each had our own desks spaced far apart with water, hand sanitizer, and tissues, everyone wore their masks, and if we needed help she wore gloves to handle our camera. I went into the class knowing the information that was going to be taught (I have tried teaching myself via YouTube and the internet) but not completely comfortable. This class took me right over to feeling confident in using my camera. I appreciate the examples, and the way the class was taught (more conversational than sitting through a lecture). Sami took the time to learn my specific interests in photography, and gave me some resources and suggestions. It was a fun, informative class and Im excited to take another class. Thank you.

This was the first photo composition class that I have taken and it was an excellent experience! Tony and Gaby did a great job organizing the walking tour and working with each of us individually to improve our composition skills. I plan on taking their night photography course in the near future. The small group format (there were 3 students and 2 leaders) worked incredibly well in the setting of social distancing.

Took a night photography class last night with Boston Photography Workshops. This is my second class and I am just as thrilled with this one as I was with the first.Everything from beginning to end is well planned and organized. Class started out with basic knowledge of a tripod, moved on to basics for camera settings for night time photography, then to actual shooting in several different locations. Lastly, a wrap up with some additional info and sharing of photos.Chris and his aid (sorry forgot your name) are very professional, friendly and helpful. All through the night, they gave each student individual attention and help.I left with a number of great photos, better knowledge of my camera, and a few light bulb moments about photography.A bit afraid to make this review in fear of loosing a spot at the next workshop, but BPW is such an amazing company and they truly deserve every single one of those five stars.

I have taken two courses through The Boston Photography Workshop in the past 2 months and loved both of them.Their Introduction to Digital Photography is perfect for those who are just setting out on learning about their digital cameras. Chris does a fantastic job walking you through how to use manual mode and how to best take photos. The Composition in the Field course allows you to take those beginner skills and practically apply them while walking around. The classes seem to be kept small (

I’ve always loved looking at photography and really wanted to know how to use my camera. After trying by reading the camera manual and tips online I still felt like it wasn’t clicking (ha!) . Boston Photography Workshops was just what I was looking for. Chris is a great teacher, mixing in analogies that make all the fancy terms easy to understand for a beginner. The small group setting made me feel comfortable asking questions. I highly recommend and am looking forward to taking another workshop.

I took Digital Cameras I a little over a week ago and absolutely loved it. I purchased a canon rebel before a big trip to Iceland. Regrettably, I went on the trip before taking the class and quickly realized that my photography could have been so much better if I only knew how to work the camera. Chris and his assistant were super helpful and made the class easy to understand and full of necessary information. You learned camera basics without it being too overwhelming for a complete beginner like myself. I came out of it with a new love for photography and so much excitement to practice what I had learned. Highly recommend!

I took Digital Cameras 1 here on 4/9/17. Before taking this class, I had tried watching YouTube videos to pick up the basics for my new DSLR, but I was left feeling overwhelmed. Chris introduced the basics of controlling exposure in an extremely accessible way, with hands-on experimentation at each step that really solidified the concepts. Class size was perfect, everyone had the opportunity to ask questions about the material and about their individual cameras settings.

My beautiful Canon DSLR sat neglected for a couple of years - and then when I took it out of the camera bag I quickly realized that I needed a complete refresher. That actually happened a few times before I discovered Boston Photography Workshops. I had even tried getting back up to speed with an online Creative Live course specifically on my camera - but it wasnt enough. So I took a chance and set up a private session with Maria and I am so glad I did! The time we spent together exceeded my expectations and the trepidation I felt about all those buttons is gone. Maria was extremely well prepared, knowledgable and very responsive to my specific questions and needs. She had great visuals to describe all concepts and of course I had lots of hands on actually working with my camera.Long story short - if youve been searching for a jump-start for your photography or if need a refresher youll find it here! Thank you to Boston Photography Workshops and Maria - Im looking forward to future workshops together!

I took the beginning workshop, Digital Cameras I, this past weekend with Chris and it was great! Hes an excellent teacher and does a good job of making everything a complex idea simple to understand. Ive owned a DSLR for years and only understood pieces of what I was doing but now I feel confident in both using and explaining things like shutter speed, aperture, and ISO-sensitivity. If you have any interest in photography at all or learning more about your DSLR I highly recommend this class! Ill definitely be taking the more advanced workshops.

The class was interesting and a perfect balance between classroom instruction and practical application. I plan to take additional classes with BPW, and would highly recommend to others!

I have taken two classes with Boston Photography Workshops. I went with my Nikon D7200 in order to better understand when and how to leverage the capabilities of the camera to get better pictures under various scenarios as well as looking for specific details and angles to improve composition. They did a phenomenal job showing how to manipulate things like ISO/Aperture/Shutter Speed and white balance in the field to get better results. Ive learned tons and already see a huge improvement in the photographs I take. The classes helped tremendously in moving fully into Manual mode. The staff is also very friendly and engaging and knowledgable. I have found a new joy in the hobby and I am certain Ill be going back to take their Lightroom class.I would recommend this studio to any hobbyist looking to hone his/her photography skills.

I have took 4 classes with Boston Photography Workshops already -digital camera 1 & 2, night photography, as well as the field composition class. To be honestly, I feel so lucky to have a photo class studio that is local and affordable. Everybody at the BPW is so nice and friendly, Chris is super patient and knowledgeable too. They have a private FB group too after you joining the class, where you can post your photos and any questions to the group, and everybody will be very willing to help you out. In general, highly recommend BPW to anyone who have a DSLR and would like to bring your photography skill to the next level.
