Very Amateruish Dojo! I observed an outdoor training session and had the opportunity to watch overweight old people in masks try to keep up with one or two younger people in a very bad attempt at Japanese sword. The worst part is that the instructor in my view wasnt much better than these students.I decided to pass, and found a Japanese Sword study group coincidentally made up of about 10 former students of Shinkendo Boston who all quit that dojo. They meet regularly in a clean space, they train very hard, with strong discipline, using exercises from Shinkendo, Tension Ryu, even HEMA.These guys spar hard and safe, with energy and vigor!BEST THING is they dont charge money!!!

MyView of this dojo is pretty much in line with what you we read all over social media. The instructor simply made a fool of himself and brought shame to the Shinkendo federation by behaving like an idiot, and crossing the line in attempts to control his students lives.Just run some Internet searches for yourself.

In an attempt to leave a balanced review I normally list the pros and cons of my experiences. However in the case of the Boston Shinkendo Shoshinkan dojo there are no pros to offer up.This school is just bad, plain and simple. The instructor is the worst I have ever met , people say he is kind of creepy, I say he did make my skin crawl. The training is poor, geared towards weak minded individuals the instructor can easily control, the students to are old, or fat, the facility itself smells badly. It’s billed as a traditional Japanese dojo but I know of a single Japanese person who would ever attend this place.Check around social media for feedback. This place his not recommended,

I had a terrible martial arts experience at this dojo! Very poor instruction!Run down dojo, bad vibes amongst the students. The instructor was kinda of wimpy and had no real skill. His two students he promoted as instructors were also lacking skills. This is not a traditional Japanese style dojo in any way at all! This is a place for clowns and fat old people.

Not a pleasant environment to train in, the instructor was an oddball, and very controlling of peoples lives outside of the dojo.Totally overstepped his bounds as was completely out of line. That is on top of his lack of skill and poor teaching ability.Forget this place and check out other dojo’s!

This dojo is a very sad excuse for a Japanese martial arts school. The instructor that is commonly known as little Shaffee, he’s a very weird guy and gives off a poor vibe to students and visitors, my experience was weird and I’m glad I did not put a lot of time and effort into this Dojo!!YeeLuvsTheLingam

An excellent family-run dojo for traditional Japanese swordsmanship training. Very open, friendly, and accommodating for all levels. Virtual training options make it an ideal choice.

Ive been a student here for quite some time and Ive had great experiences. I learn a lot about contemporary Japanese Swordsmanship in a dojo setting. Its a family dojo so safety is always emphasized as is discipline.

Every poor dojo, with embarrassing instruction, no traditional art, two silly kids running the place for a wimpy middle aged oddball Sensei.Strongly advise people to do some Google research before joining this place. You will be better off.

This dojo is by far the worst attempt at a traditional Japanese sword school as I have ever witnessed,The students there are old, fat, and or weirdos, the instructor is this wimpy goofball I wouldn’t hire to mow my grass, this place is a joke,

Our assessment of this dojo is that there is drama associated with it, and an unsavory reputation based upon first hand student encounters and testimonials. You decide if this is the type of Japanese sword school for you.
